About this listing

Private little guest suite (bedroom and bathroom) that is like having a small apartment for independent guests to come & go as they like. Situated in a very quiet, COUNTRY neighborhood that has scenic views and dark skies, we are 3+ miles from the Moab City center. Comfortable bed, beautiful and private redwood deck and outside patio with room for 2 people to have a very comfortable and relaxing stay in Moab. If you enjoy nature, you will really like it here. Did I mention that we are RURAL?

The space

Though this is listed as a private room, it is like having your own little apartment - the suite has its own entrance and deck and you won't be entering our home to get to and from your space. It is a clean & light-filled, very quiet and private guest room with private bath - separate entrance from secluded east facing deck - with views.

The bed is a Kingsdown pillow-top queen (made up with high thread count cotton sheets) that is VERY comfortable, wifi, cable HD TV with a zillion channels, small fridge, electric kettle and coffee maker - with plenty of parking.

Great hosts attend to your needs (or leave you alone, if that is what you desire). Very close to the beautiful 18 hole Moab golf course and a large park w/disc golfing and numerous riding/hiking/jeeping nearby trails. The guest suite has a refrigerated a/c that is more than adequate for the square footage.

Beautiful views of the rim and the mountains. Located 3+ miles from the center of Moab, along a year around creek with more shade trees than you can count and horses grazing in the pasture nearby.

No smoking in or near the house and no pets, please.

As said above, there is a dorm fridge, a coffee pot, an electric kettle and a very few cups, bowls, glasses and utensils in the room for guests' use - for say, a continental breakfast. HOWEVER, this is not a kitchenette. If you are looking for a place in which you can make meals, this is not it - we don't provide a radar-range nor a toaster oven.

Guest access

Their bedroom and private bathroom, their private east facing deck with patio and a large part of our 3 acre yard and the private area where they will be parking. We've recently installed 20 solar panels, so our guests get to know that their daytime power is being generated by sunshine - we go on the grid at night.

Interaction with guests

We usually greet guests when they arrive and give them a 10 or 15 minute run through of information about the room and the area, etc. Once in awhile we "bump" into the guests around the yard a time or two and we are always available to the guests by phone and text or if they knock on the door of our part of the house.

Other things to note

The guest suite has facilities for our guests to make a continental breakfast; we do not supply breakfast - just coffee, tea, milk and sugar.

This place was very quiet. It is a little ways from town but not that far, the host was wonderful. Terry greeted us when we arrived and let us know he was there if we needed anything. The room was small but that was okay we were only there to sleep. The bed was extremely comfortable. The room was set up with everything we needed. I would stay there again.

Mary's place was the quiet and peaceful place that I wanted on my first solo adventure. Her family was very kind and I look forward to staying with them again.

Very comfortable and quiet room. Listing exactly as advertised. Mary is great at communicating with guests prior to their arrival. Definitely read up on how to get there. So happy I stayed here and wish I could have stayed longer.

Mary's place was cozy, quiet and comfortable with all the essentials you would expect from a good airbnb place. It is close to Arches National Park and downtown Moab and is a perfect place to rest, shower and recharge while you are in the area.

Mary's private room was a very good choice while my wife and I traveled through Moab. The host was friendly and allowed us privacy. Mary's place is described as a private room but really it's more like staying a hip little motel. We found her reference booklet informing and helpful. And in late May the lack of A/C was absolutely NOT a problem. We will likely stay with Mary next time we are in Moab.

Mary User ProfileMary is a superhost.

It's difficult for me to live without clean/fresh air, big blue skies, daily hikes around the rocks, freshly picked vegetables and high thread count bedsheets! If I can travel anywhere it is Italy; but I am beginning to realize that I enjoy a hiking trip into the canyons around Moab nearly as much - it is so much simpler and just as awe inspiring. Fewer crowds, too. For my favorite meal, I head to Eddie McStiff's for the salmon cobb salad, and for music, I listen to Pink Martini (my friends say I am a groupie, having been to eight of their concerts).
We'll take care of you here - as you like. Just enough attention, or very little - it's up to you. We know the area well and can give you plenty of tips about great places to visit while here in this outdoor wonderland. Mostly, we want to make sure you enjoy your stay in Moab, our family's home for six decades.
