Private little guest suite that is like having a small apt.; for guests to come & go as they like. Situated in a very quiet, COUNTRY neighborhood that has scenic views. Comfortable bed & just enough room for 2 people to have a great stay in Moab.
There it is - the kitchen in the bedroom: fridge, coffee and hot pot. French doors to deck on East side, wonderful morning light.
Though this is listed as a private room, it is like having your own little apartment - the suite has its own entrance and deck and you won't be entering our home to get to and from your space. It is a clean & light-filled, very quiet and private guest room with private bath - separate entrance from secluded east facing deck - with views.
The bed is a Kingsdown pillow-top queen (made up with high thread count cotton sheets) that is VERY comfortable, wifi, cable HD TV with a zillion channels, small fridge, electric kettle and coffee maker - with plenty of parking.
Great hosts attend to your needs (or leave you alone, if that is what you desire). Very close to the beautiful 18 hole Moab golf course and a large park w/disk golfing and numerous riding/hiking/jeeping nearby trails.
Beautiful views of the rim and the mountains. Located 4 miles from the center of Moab, along a year around creek with more shade trees than you can count and horses grazing in the pasture nearby.
No smoking in or near the house and no pets, please.
During the high seasons of the year, we collect a surcharge of $15 when guests stay just one night - unless there is just one night available between other guests.
As said above, there is a dorm fridge, a coffee pot, an electric kettle and a very few cups, bowls, glasses and utensils in the room for guests' use - for say, a continental breakfast. HOWEVER, this is not a kitchenette. If you are looking for a place in which you can make meals, this is not it.
Their bedroom and private bathroom, their private east facing deck with patio and a large part of our 3 acre yard and the private area where they will be parking.
Interaction with Guests
We usually greet guests when they arrive and give them a 10 or 15 minute run through of information about the room and the area, etc. Once in awhile we "bump" into the guests around the yard a time or two and we are always available to the guests by phone and text and if they knock on the door of our part of the house.
Quiet, private and scenic rural area. There is a really beautiful City park nearby that is seldom used, just beyond it is an 18 hole disk golf course and there are plenty of quiet areas to walk/hike/bike all around here. We are about 3 miles from the center of town; the nearest restaurant is about a mile away.
The only public transport in Moab is a taxi service and bike shuttles; you need a car to get around - unless you have a bike and the ability to ride up the hill from town to here (several hundred feet elevation gain).
Other Things to Note
The guest suite has facilities for our guests to make a continental breakfast; we do not supply breakfast - just coffee, tea, milk and sugar.
Please no smoking indoors or near the house - and no pets. You'll need to leave your bike outdoors - we have safe, covered storage and a place to wash your toys. We have a small fridge, drip coffee pot, electric hot pot and a few bowls, glasses, cups and utensils in the room; HOWEVER this is not a kitchenette - not a place to make meals. Those who stay with us eat out for most of their meals and occasionally have a continental breakfast in the room or on the private outdoor deck near their entrance to the room.
My experience at Mary's place was perfect and exactly as advertised from the description. Mary was very quick and responsive before I arrived, happy to talk through my trip (even after I arrived later than expected) and offered great recommendations that made my trip run smoothly.
The room was nice, very comfortable bed with lots of reading material about Popular places to visit and the National Parks close by. It's private entrance made staying there feel as if I had my own place as well. Next time I visit Moab I will definitely be staying here again!
This has been my best Airbnb experience to date. Mary and Terry's unit was private, comfortable and pretty much stocked with everything I needed to make my stay a comfortable one - including coffee and tea, books, a TV, fast wi-fi, hot shower, and a gorgeously comfortable bed.
The room is clean and extremely welcoming and contains all the little things to make life easier - milk in the fridge, sugar packets, dinner tray for eating in, luggage stand for your suitcase, spare trash bags, soap and shampoo in the bathroom, bowls, cutlery and even scissors for opening the coffee packets. If I found myself needing something - the room pretty much had it.
Their house is located a mere 20 minutes from Arches National Park - which was good for my many trips back and forth for my photography excursions. The neighborhood itself is extremely quiet and peaceful and I felt very safe driving in and out at all weird hours of the night to go on my shoots. There is a private guest parking space as well, which was extremely convenient.
Terry was also kind enough to show me some of the nearby hiking trails to explore. Both he and Mary are extremely friendly and checked in with me occasionally to ensure I was ok.
When I come back to Moab I will most certainly be using their space again. Highly recommended.
Wir fanden eine wunderbare Gastgeberin in Mary und eine komfortable und excelente Unterkunft, die genau so war wie wir es uns wünschen. Mit allem Komfort, ein großer Garten, Terasse und Privatsphäre. Abseits vom Trubel in Moab vollkommen ruhig. Wir kommen wieder wenn wir in Moab sind.
I had a very nice comfortable stay. Mary and her husband met me in front of their place and helped carry in my luggage. I would stay again when I come to Moab.
Mary and Terry are warm and welcoming hosts. They gave us tons of local insider info about Moab and Arches. Their property is so peaceful and the accommodations are clean and super cozy. We wished we could have stayed longer!!
Mary was very warm and welcoming. She spent several minutes with me reviewing the room and area details. The darling room was very comfortable, well thought out, quiet, and very relaxing. This place was exactly what I needed and expected from the description. I will definitely stay here again in the future as I enjoyed the landscape , out of town location, and country feel. I felt very safe and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Thanks for being such a great host Mary and for the perfect restaurant and hiking tips.
We had a marvelous time staying at Mary's little oasis in the desert. The room actually looked nicer than the photos, and was well-decorated and very comfortable. The bed was terrific, and there was a large array of reading materials and videos (including some classics filmed nearby.) Although the suite is in a house occupied by others, we experienced complete privacy thanks to to separate entrance. There is a designated parking area off of the road with a path leading to the private porch with views of snow-capped mountains. Mary greeted us on arrival and made sure we were well-oriented to the suite. She provided some helpful info on the national parks and local eateries. We could not have been more pleased with our experience, and we will hope to stay at Mary's again when we return to Moab.
It's difficult for me to live without clean/fresh air, big blue skies, daily hikes around the rocks, freshly picked vegetables and high thread count bedsheets! If I can travel anywhere it is Italy; but I am beginning to realize that I enjoy a hiking trip into the canyons around Moab nearly as much - it is so much simpler and just as awe inspiring. Fewer crowds, too. For my favorite meal, I head to Eddie McStiff's for the salmon cobb salad, and for music, I listen to Pink Martini (my friends say I am a groupie, having been to eight of their concerts).
We'll take care of you here - as you like. Just enough attention, or very little - it's up to you. We know the area well and can give you plenty of tips about great places to visit while here in this outdoor wonderland. Mostly, we want to make sure you enjoy your stay in Moab, our family's home for six decades.
