New Studio in H St/NoMa Rowhouse

House - Entire home/apt · 4th Street Northeast, Washington, DC 20002, United States

Our new charming basement studio in a DC rowhouse is 2 blocks from Metro (NoMa station on Red Line) near the hip H Street restaurant/bar corridor. Comfortable walk to the US Capitol, museums and more. Includes full kitchen, TV/internet & parking.

The Space

Our classic Capitol Hill rowhome was built in 1923, and still has original brickwork and trim throughout. The basement apartment, however, is brand new with all new high-end ceramic floors, granite countertops and window sills, and a sleek modern kitchen. It comfortably sleeps two adults.

We're only two blocks from the NoMa-Gallaudet station of the Red Line of the Metro, only one stop from Union Station (or just an eight block walk). There is a Capitol Bikeshare rental station two blocks away as well, and Starbucks, Harris Teeter supermarket, and more just one block further. It's also only a few blocks to Union Market (a high end food market) or the dozens of bars/restaurants of H Street NE.

Guest Access

The apartment is accessed from the rear alley and is controlled by a keypad entry system so no keys are required. The parking pad is adjacent to the entrance. We will provide you with a password for WiFi, and the TV has cable and a DVD player. There is no smoking or pets allowed.

Interaction with Guests

Our family lives in an entirely separate unit upstairs. We have two small children, and while there is significant high quality soundproofing insulation, you may hear tiny feet at times! We are always nearby and available to give directions & suggestions, but otherwise we'll respect your privacy. With the keypad access to the apartment, you can arrive anytime without needing a key from us as well.

The Neighborhood

We love living in the NoMa/H Street/Capitol Hill North neighborhood because we have friendly neighbors, lots of great free community events, and easy transportation options.

It's a great neighborhood for walking & biking. Two large supermarkets are within just a few blocks, and dozens of restaurants are nearby on H Street and elsewhere close by.

Union Market is a fantastic indoor market with high-end local seafood, dairy, bread, coffee, and more - both ingredients to go and plenty of options to eat there.

Getting around

Our apartment is extremely close to numerous forms of public transportation, and an off-street parking space is also included.

The NoMa-Gallaudet Metro is 2 blocks away, which is on the Red Line which is the most frequent line in the system and goes to Union Station and throughout the heart of downtown.

For driving, I-395 is less than a mile away, and New York Ave (US-50) is 1/2 mile away, so it's very easy to get to/from any local airports or to the beltway (495) and parts beyond.

There are numerous bus lines one block away, primarily the 90-series buses which run often to Adams Morgan, U Street, Eastern Market and Barracks Row.

Union Station is about six blocks away. From here, you can take Amtrak, commuter rail (VRE & MARC), Greyhound, Bolt Bus, Megabus, and more. This is also one of DC's largest indoor malls.

Our neighborhood is mostly flat and very bike-able. The Metropolitan Branch Trail (MBT), one of the best off-road bike lanes in DC, is two blocks away, and there are numerous bike lanes nearby. There is a Capitol Bikeshare station two blocks away, and longer-term bike rentals are available at Union Station. My wife & I actually both commute daily by bike.

Other Things to Note

There are no steps required to access the apartment, but a wheelchair cannot navigate inside the bathroom. If you have any special requests to make your stay better, please let us know!

  • This was an amazing find for our trip to DC! It was only 2 blocks from the Metro station at NoMa and there was even a parking spot under their deck so we could leave the car and not battle parking and traffic in DC! The apartment was very comfortable and clean with a full kitchen and washing machine/dryer combo! It got a little noisy at times because you could hear the family walking around upstairs, however it didn't bother us at all because we were up and moving around at the same time they were! Night time was quiet and comfortable! Great location and great hosts!!! The keypad made entry and arrival super easy as well!! Thank you!!!!

  • I had a lovely 2 week stay (Mar 9-22, 2014)! The hosts were very kind, thoughtful and hospitable. The basement studio apartment had all the amenities one could want and was very close to the metro line. It was a quiet and comfortable stay with complete privacy. I would definitely stay here again!

  • Tony had been in contact prior to my check in date multiple times answering questions and giving me information, he's a really friendly person which put me at ease due to traveling alone. The apartment is exactly as advertised, such a fantastic size for either a single or a couple and very clean (and cozy, the day I arrived was quite cold and I walked in with the heater already on for me). Tony and his wife have an information folder full of maps of nearest conveniences, the train system, how to rent one of the shared bikes and good places to eat waiting for you on arrival. The family is lovely and more than willing to help, I'm really hoping the next time I go to DC this apartment is free!

  • Tony was an excellent host. The beautiful and comfortable studio was perfect in every way. I will definitely book his studio should I return to DC. Thank you so much for your hospitality and kindness.

  • Tony's apartment was wonderful! It was super clean, quiet, easy to access and very comfortable, The apartment had everything we needed and more. The location of the apartment makes getting around DC really easy. It's a 5 minute walk to the metro and not much further to a bus stop. Tony is very easy to work with and is happy to answer questions. He also responds to email super fast. This was our first Airbnb experience and it exceeded our expectations. We would definitely stay with Tony again and highly recommend his apartment while you're visiting Washington DC.

  • If you are looking for a place to stay in Washington this is it!
The apartment is easy to access and close to Union station and NoMa metro. We hired bicycles from Capital Bikeshrare during our stay so getting around is easy. If you need to self-cater the apartment is very well equipped and there are two large supermarkets nearby.

The apartment is clean and warm. The clothes washer/dryer is very handy. They have a good supply go everything you could need and a very detailed guide to Washington and staying in the apartment. Everything is like it appears in the photos.

Tony is a great host. We had no trouble with our booking and he had everything ready when we arrived. We hadn't checked the news and he warned us that the weather was about to get really bad. We had to change our travel plans but thankfully Tony could help us to stay the extra night.

We would certainly stay here again!

  • My boyfriend and I loved staying in Tony's studio apartment. The place is absolutely adorable, very clean and conveniently located--within walking distance to H Street and Union Station. Tony was a wonderful host to communicate with, and overall we had an excellent experience staying here.

  • I spent a little over a week at Tony's Studio in NoMa and had an absolutely wonderful experience. The accommodations were new, clean, and so inviting. The apartment has everything, and more, that you need to have a fantastic stay in DC.

Tony is such a wonderful host. He was so helpful while I was booking my reservation, and messaged me a few times to make sure I was doing alright and had everything I needed. He has seriously thought of everything, and staying in the apartment was like a little slice of heaven. The welcome packet that was provided was so helpful, and had lots of information about the neighborhood, public transportation, and great places to eat near the apartment.

Thank you so much for your hospitality. Staying here really made my transition moving to DC so wonderful.

  • I got in late to D.C. after a long train ride, and could not have found the place in better condition and more welcoming. Tony and Norah have a great setup, I would say far better than a hotel any day. The apartment is super easy to get to, and impeccably maintained. I found an array of coffee and teas waiting for me. Tony is johnny-on-the-spot with communications - I never had a problem getting in contact with him. Cannot recommend this place enough. I used to live in D.C. and I know now any time I come back for work or pleasure, I will stay here. Truly a gem in the NoMa neighborhood.

  • The apartment was very nice and very comfortable. Tony was a great host--we were able to drop off our luggage before our check-in time and he checked in with us to make sure we knew about the record-breaking cold DC was experiencing and that we were appropriately prepared. He was also an invaluable resource for getting around DC. We had a great experience here and would definitely stay here again!

We love living in the NoMa/Near Northeast neighborhood of Washington, DC! My wife and I have two young children. While there is high quality soundproofing between our home and our basement rental, it can't stop all of the noise of playing with trains, blocks, and our other fun activities! We've designed our basement apartment to accommodate friends and family on extended stays in DC, and are happy to make it available on Airbnb as well whenever we can. This is a very friendly neighborhood, with free and welcoming events, markets and concerts within a few blocks on most weekends.
