This new guest studio apartment in our DC rowhouse is 2 blocks from Metro (NoMa station on Red Line) near the hip H Street restaurant/bar corridor & easy walk to the Capitol & monuments. Includes kitchen, coffee, tv/internet, washer/dryer & more.
Our classic Capitol Hill rowhome was built in 1923, and still has original brickwork and trim throughout. The basement apartment, however, is brand new with all new high-end ceramic floors, granite countertops and window sills, and a sleek modern kitchen. It comfortably sleeps two adults.
We don't live in this apartment. It's completely dedicated for guests and so we don't have any clothing or other personal items anywhere. The closet & refrigerator are completely available and clear (except for an iron, spare linens, bottled water & condiments).
We're only two blocks from the NoMa-Gallaudet station of the Red Line of the Metro, only one stop from Union Station (or just an eight block walk). There is a Capitol Bikeshare rental station two blocks away as well, and Starbucks, Harris Teeter supermarket, and more just one block further. It's also only a few blocks to Union Market (a high end food market) or the dozens of bars/restaurants of H Street NE.
The apartment is accessed from the rear alley and is controlled by a keypad entry system so no keys are required and check-in is very flexible. We will provide you with a password for WiFi, and the TV has cable and a DVD player. There is no smoking or pets allowed.
Interaction with Guests
Our family lives in an entirely separate unit upstairs. We have two small children, and while there is significant high quality soundproofing insulation, you may hear tiny feet at times! We are always nearby and available to give directions & suggestions, but otherwise we'll respect your privacy. With the keypad access to the apartment, you can arrive anytime without needing a key from us as well.
We love living in the NoMa/H Street/Capitol Hill North neighborhood because we have friendly neighbors, lots of great free community events, and easy transportation options.
It's a great neighborhood for walking & biking. Two large supermarkets are within just a few blocks, and dozens of restaurants are nearby on H Street and elsewhere close by.
Union Market is a fantastic indoor market with high-end local seafood, dairy, bread, coffee, and more - both ingredients to go and plenty of options to eat there.
Our apartment is extremely close to numerous forms of public transportation for travel within DC and along the East Coast.
The NoMa-Gallaudet Metro is 2 blocks away, which is on the Red Line which is the most frequent line in the system and goes to Union Station and throughout the heart of downtown.
There are also numerous bus lines nearby, including the 90-series buses which run often to Adams Morgan, U Street, Eastern Market and Barracks Row.
Union Station is about six blocks away. From there, you can take Amtrak, commuter rail (VRE & MARC), Greyhound, Bolt Bus, Megabus, and more to go up to Philadelphia, New York, and other cities. This is also one of DC's largest indoor malls.
Our neighborhood is mostly flat and very bike-able. The Metropolitan Branch Trail (MBT), one of the best off-road bike lanes in DC, is two blocks away, and there are numerous bike lanes nearby. There is a Capitol Bikeshare station two blocks away, and longer-term bike rentals are available at Union Station. My wife & I actually both commute daily by bike.
Other Things to Note
There are no steps required to access the apartment, but a wheelchair cannot navigate inside the bathroom. If you have any special requests to make your stay better, please let us know!
No smoking or pets are allowed.
Tony's home was beautiful and very clean. He let us in way ahead of the check in time which was so nice of him as we were arriving early. Everything you could need was in this suite. Great location as we were able to walk to everything we wanted to do and see. Best airbnb experience I have had so far. Would definitely stay here again! He offered assistance right away for if we needed anything or information on dc. The guide book that Tony has made for the suite is also very useful. Love that he had a code lock so we didn't have to arrange times to meet to exchange keys. Thanks again Tony!
This studio is exactly what you see! Cozy, clean, with very modern updates. We enjoyed our stay here. Key pad entry made check in a breeze! Super close to Noma metro and easy walk to Union Station. H Street was very close as well. There was some noise in the morning (~7:45) due to people walking, but no noise at night (and they provided ear plugs)-- not a big deal if you're an early riser! Would definitely recommend!
Tony made the apartment extremely welcoming to me and my boyfriend, whom were visiting DC for our first time together. He left tips and guides for us, included a parking pass, and was very responsive to questions that we had prior to our trip. The apartment was incredibly clean and well kept. For a few days, this was definitely all we needed. After long days of walking around DC, it was nice to have a quiet place to return to. The surrounding neighborhood is in a bit of a renovation. We live in a similar area in Ohio, so it was really interesting to see some of the houses and streets around Tony's place. We weren't far from the metro at all, about 2 blocks. Union station was only a few more blocks from that. The alley that you access apartment from was not loud or busy, so we always felt safe coming home at the end of the day. If you enjoy running - I was able to go on a long run one morning to all the monuments. National Mall was only a few miles away! We will definitely keep Tony's place in our minds to refer friends who are visiting the area. It was a great place to stay!
Tony was an incredibly foresightful host. The studio is clean, well-stocked, and so conveniently located. It felt like home as soon as we got there - very private, cozy, and well-laid out. Would definitely stay again and I highly recommend it.
This place is so well located, I couldn't believe it. Even after very long days, I always had the energy for the 2 measly blocks this place was from the Metro, and the 3 blocks it was from Indian food. Tony made my stay so convenient; from having the key be a pass code so I could come and go without worrying about a key, to providing everything I could ever need (coffee, water, snack bars, even ear plugs!) They even had pasta there in case something happened that made me unable to get food. Now let's talk about how stylish it is. The design is so cute and cool and just right. From a ledge by the bed perfect for charging your phone and leaving your watch/glasses, to a kitchen that I wish I had. They left a folder for me explaining everything with much appreciated chocolate. I would absolutely stay here again. This place set the bar very high.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Tony's apartment. The listing was just as described, easy to access and Tony was incredibly responsive and helpful. The apartment's proximity to NoMa station, a grocery store and other amenities (Starbucks is a short walk as is CVS and Union Station) makes it especially convenient. Wifi access was reliable, the kitchen was fully stocked and the washer/drier made my two week stay much easier. The bed was really comfortable too! Tony even lent me their guest parking pass for a few days, which (if you know DC at all) is worth its weight in gold. I would highly recommend staying at this apartment and hope to do so again in the coming months.
Extremely clean, modern apartment. Very well equipped. Loved the hassle free check in process. I found Tony to be an excellent host. One of the best Airbnb experiences. Will gladly stay again.
We love living in the NoMa/Near Northeast neighborhood of Washington, DC! My wife and I have two young children. While there is high quality soundproofing between our home and our basement rental, it can't stop all of the noise of playing with trains, blocks, and our other fun activities!
We've designed our basement apartment to accommodate friends and family on extended stays in DC, and are happy to make it available on Airbnb as well whenever we can. This is a very friendly neighborhood, with free and welcoming events, markets and concerts within a few blocks on most weekends.
