Here are some suggestions and requests that should make your stay as comfortable as possible: You will notice that the location is the best between being close to the city and being in a quiet residential neighborhood. The CTA Brownline Paulina Station is just minutes away, the No. 11 Bus even closer. Whole Foods Market is the preferred upscale source for nourishments and the best fruits and vegetables for the discriminating taste. Jewel Foods is about 4 blocks south between Paulina and Ashland. There are several bars and restaurants in walking distance, feel free to inquire about recommendations.
You will find our beds comfortable, with hotel grade mattresses and 100% cotton linens, there are additional blankets and covers available for the asking. Please try to take care of the furniture and rugs and artwork, this is not a low-grade motel, the surroundings are appointed like a private home., as indeed, it is my home. There are no oak floors and oriental rugs at Motel 6.
NON-SMOKING, no dogs or cats please.
Also, our company manufactures 3in1Dead Sea skin care products, you will find some free samples for your use or take them with you. If you are interested in purchasing some, let us know.
This is a non smoking unit and no pets are allowed.
There are a few things that need special attention, one is, the awkward position of the bathroom light switch, you will figure out which one works the heat and exhaust and which one is for the lights. The other one, is a missing knob on the stove, if you need all 4 burners, just move one knob to where you need it. Please be careful on the kitchen and bathroom floor, these are porcelain tiles and can be very slippery when wet. We do request that you turn off the AC or heat when you are not in the apartment, it cools down and heats up in minutes, and we do not want to jack up the prices because of excessive use of gas and electricity, and we would like to contribute to conserving energy. Please do NOT move the furniture, the heat and AC vents are on the floor behind the furniture, and in the kitchen near the stove. The phone system works for incoming and local calls only, if you need to make long distance calls, please use you cell phone.
We enjoyed our stay on the main floor of the house with 2 beds and the basement suite with another bed. Andy, who watches the house for Conrad, was available by text message as soon as we touched down at the airport. The main floor and basement suite are both comfortable and clean, the location is great near the Paulina L stop.
We didn't really have much contact with the host, Conrad. We had more contact with his agent Andy, who was very nice and responsive to our needs. The apartment was a good space for the five of us. The location was the best thing about the place. Lakeview is a great neighborhood and we were right near public transportation.
We met with Andy who is not the host but he checks you in - he was easy to organize and allowed us to check in early. He also was easy to contact and very responsive on any questions we had over text. All in all the place was good, we had a group of 6 people and it met our needs. The place is a bit scruffy but the bedrooms and living area are good and it is very close to transport and restaurants in the Roscoe Village neighborhood.
Great experience! We went for a girls weekend/college reunion and had a wonderful time. The main floor has two queen beds and a nice big couch in the seating area, and the basement studio apartment has a queen and a fold out couch. We had 7 girls so we all bunked up and one person slept on the upstairs couch. Location was excellent, close to shops, restaurants, and the metro/L train. There was some confusion 1-2 weeks ahead of time with the host regarding whether we had actually made the reservation, but it all worked out and he was great.
Conrad's apartment was a dream. It was larger than expected and very clean and comfortable. It's nestled in a beautiful and very safe neighborhood with many places to walk to and easy access to the el.
Conrad himself was very easy to coordinate checking in and out with. He lives upstairs but leaves you to your own devices and respects your privacy. We did not see him much at all, except when we ran out of something during our stay - a quick call to Conrad and he came right down with more! The moments that we did share with him showed us that he knew a lot about the neighborhood and that he was full of helpful recommendations on where to visit, where to eat.
I would absolutely stay here again.
Unfortunately we had way too many issues with Conrad. I will list the issues that we had but in regards to Conrad's attitute throughout the entire time I can only say that he was unapologetic and even hostile. Basically a bully.
1) We rented a 2 bedroom place + downstairs studio (for 7 people).
The studio was overbooked so 3 people had to find accommodation somewhere else at our own expense, thus the cost for the 4 people who stayed went up. So negative savings for anyone, us who stayed had to pay more per person and the ones who left had to pay for a hotel. Overbooking happened as Conrad uses mora than one website to promote his properties.
2) Keys to enter the apartment itself never worked, we gave him notice since the first night that we were unable to access the apartment, Conrad told me more than 2 possible explanations of why this was happening though towards the end of our trip he tried to blame it on us.
3) Second night in the place, we walked in throughthe back door (since keys never worked) and there was a lady (who was not part of our party, she was staying upstairs from us) using our bathroom. Needless to say that the whole experience was extremely scary as we didn't know at first who was there in our apartment to the point that we were ready to call 911, for all we knew it could have been a thief or something worse. Conrad was unapologetic the next day we talked about that and said that those things happen everywhere. By the way, he also told us that overbooking happens with hotels and airlines so basically we were just unlucky.
4) He offered to refund me $115 for the inconvenience of not having the studio available for us WHILE he was charging $265 to the people who actually were able to keep the studio, as they booked the studio through a different website at a higher price, so he found an opportunity to arbitrage us. Unfortunately for him, I don't let people pushing me around, so I gave him a piece of my mind and he refunded me $150 at the end. The issue was never the money, it was his abuse.
Perhaps we were just unlucky with Conrad, maybe he was having a bad weekend.
Havings said that though, the apartment itself is great, the location is also great and the city is amazing. If you could rent the place and never have to deal with Conrad or overbooking issues I bet you would have a blast, otherwise be ready to stand up for yourself.
