SOCO ItZ bitZ Bungalow

House - Entire home/apt · S 1st St, Austin, TX 78704, United States

The Space

This adorable 650 square foot bungalow sits behind my hair salon on South 1st Street in the very popular and trendy SOCO and SOFI area of Austin...in the most desirable/hip zip code, 78704! It has been lovingly remodeled and prepared to host even the most finicky guest to the casual guest with close proximity to downtown Austin less than a 1.5 mile walk away! Nestled between Zilker Park/Barton Springs Pool, South Lamar, and South Congress, you'll find yourself in the middle of all the local attractions. In addition, there is a park (Gillis Park) located directly across the street for those of you with children, animals, and/or enjoy a walk nearby. South 1st and South Congress street are famous for their selection of incredible vintage stores so don't forgot to visit some of the best infamous and local South Austin shops like Flashback, Schatzelein, Turntable Records, Resistencia Bookstore, etc ...just a couple of blocks down from the Bungalow! There are countless cute, local bakeries and coffee shops within blocks, as well.

The bungalow details:

There is a comfy white cotton slip cover sofa for seating. Walk in closet provides plenty of room to hang clothes, and many shelves for storing belongings. The bathroom has a stand up shower, Bath and Body antibacterial hand soap, lotion, and shower gel. We also provide Moroccan Oil shampoo and conditioner! Shower cap, hairdryer, and comfy towels also provided (we recommend you bring beach towels for off site use). The kitchen has a brand new 4 burner gas stove, new microwave, new full size refrigerator, coffee maker, ceramic teapot, kettle, pots/pans, toaster, and blender. If you are bringing your bike(s), please feel free to leave them inside your house :) There is also a pergola/patio which is to the left of the front salon building and a bistro table/chairs on the front porch of the salon overlooking the scene on South 1st Street you're welcome to enjoy at night, as well!

PARKING:
There is on site parking for one guest vehicle only. We ask for you to park in the nearest spot to the back Bungalow (about 10 feet from the door - super close and convenient!) We do issue you one parking permit to be put in your vehicle dashboard overnight. If you have more than one vehicle, you are welcome to use the neighborhood free street parking one block away on Herndon Lane/South 1st Street :)

  • Oh my! I can't say enough positive things about Sovay's Cottage. Check in was a breeze, communication excellent and the cottage itself was so cute and absolutely spotless. It was like checking into a boutique hotel. Sovay provided so many extras to make my stay easier - coffee, cream, soap, shampoo, moisturizer, extra toothbrush and toothpaste and even sunscreen. I was so pleased with everything. She even provided an extensive list of things to do and see as well as make your travel easier. I loved it. I can't wait to go back and I hope to be able to stay here again.

Thanks, Jennice!!! You're very welcome back anytime you like :) Some of the stylists had mentioned they met you, too, and said you were so sweet! Hope to see you again.

  • What a great place! My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights and had the most wonderful time. Walking distance to shops and food on South Congress, short walk to HEB for anything else, and delicious taco stand right next door. We will definitely be back! P.S.- she has the most amazing hair dryer available too (for my fellow long hair girls) :)

  • Sovay's apartment was in a great location and had all the required amenities including a hot shower, well stocked kitchen and comfortable bed. We tried many of the recommended restaurants and cafes and all were tasty. Despite being situated on a relatively busy road I felt safe and it wasn't too noisy. We also got by fine without a car as there were buses and we walked a lot. Sovay was extremely quick at responding to questions and was a very considerate host.

We would definitely stay at the bungalow again, should we return to Austin.

    Thanks Sovay!

  • I loved the bungalow! The location is really great! The style and furnishings are super cool, and Sovay and Stephen are amazing! Very easy communication: Sovay gave me tons of info and help with the area. Any issues that came up, and she was very prompt to handle it! Highly recommended!

Hey Tom! You were an incredible guest. It was such a pleasure to host you for a month prior to your move here. Hope you enjoy this fabulous city :)

  • We had such a great time at this house. Small but clean and has everything you would need for a nice stay. I really liked that there was private parking because I am moving X-country with everything I own in the car with me--wasn't a problem at all.
    Overall a great experience.

Thanks for being such a lovely guest, Tessa! You're welcome back anytime you're in Austin and hope the rest of your road trip was seamless and fun :)

  • Great stay in a charming house in one of the coolest neighborhoods in Austin. We should have stayed here longer rather than hopping around!

    Hey there!!

I remember you saying a mutual friend left a great review on the SOCO Bungalow which prompted you to give it a try...so glad you did. You're welcome back anytime :)

  • Sovay's place is adorable, very clean and spacious for two people. Love all of the amenities in the bathroom, hotels don't leave this many goodies. However, we happened to be in Austin during an unprecedented cold snap and her space heater did not really warm up the place so we only stayed one night. Sovay was very understanding and promised to get a bigger space heater for the future. I would definitely return. Jean

Hi, Jean! Thanks for all your kind comments and, yep, we got the bigger heater :) Hope we see you again the next time you're in Austin!!

  • Great location, although at times it can be a bit noisy with the traffic. Sovay offers many household essentials and toiletries, which was really nice. Plenty of closet space for bags and a full size fridge.

    Response from Sovay:

Thanks for being a wonderful guest and I'm glad you had a nice stay. The SOCO Bungalow is located right in the middle of it all and, as a result, you can hear some of those city noises. We do provide a white noise machine on the bedside table for your convenience for an awesome sleep in the city for our lighter sleepers...just in case :)

  • This was the perfect place during our stay in Austin! We wanted to be close to downtown but not in the direct hustle and bustle which was great as everything was a 10 min ride away or less. The bungalow was extremely clean and had all the amenities we needed during our short weekend and we felt so comfortable. Sovay provides everything you might have forgotten in the packing process so no need to worry when you arrive. I would definitely recommend!

Thanks so much for staying with us. We appreciate the opportunity to host you and I'm glad the SOCO Bungalow was the perfect fit. Please consider us again for your next visit to Austin :)

  • What can I say that hasn't already been said?! Good communication, quick response to issues (only a couple, easily resolved), very clean, relatively close-in but away from the madding crowds. Thanks Sovay and Steven!
