The space

Welcome to our guesthouse, nestled among 200 year old cottonwood trees overlooking acres of pasture with roaming miniature donkeys, llamas, ostrich, emu and our horses!

This is an exquisite setting on a family ranch formerly run with cattle and bison. Our family has been here for over 300 years, farming, ranching and tending the land.

We are a retired professional couple and are offering our guesthouse for those seeking solitude, privacy and quiet enjoyment. Write. Read. Reflect! This is the place to do so!

The casita is a one bedroom, one bath with a balcony to enjoy the valley and mountain views while sipping your tea in the morning. We sit on about 20 acres and a private driveway, but the "jewel of Taos County- Arroyo Seco" is just a 10 minute walk down the road with 2 restaurants, and Taos Cow Ice Cream (voted in the top 10 in the nation!). There is also a grocery store, bar and a local dive to enjoy famous New Mexican chili!

If you prefer to walk in the opposite direction, you can walk up to trails that offer the best of wild and natural in Taos County. Walk along the creek to the craggy cliffs, or up to the waterfalls that veil the caves behind them. Or sit among the cottonwoods and enjoy a spectacular sunset!

Come and enjoy! Newly listed and now available! La Casita del Salto

Guest access

We have a couple of mountain bikes (nothing special) if you would like to take them out.

Interaction with guests

We usually play tennis in the morning and enjoy our evenings on the deck in the evening. We would love to meet you and hear your story!

Other things to note

We have an ATV and motorcycle available for rental, depending on the season.

The perfect getaway. Quite, beautiful scenery and perfectly located for hiking and mountain adventures or hitting the local shops. My family and I had an amazing time enjoying the serenity of Kris and David’s casita. Kris and David are gracious host and were available for plenty of recommendations and suggestions on experiencing the local flavor. We will be back!

This was our second stay at La Cassita! We love the convenient location right between Taos (the city) and Taos Ski Valley!! The porch is very relaxing for absorbing the view or reading a great book or catching up in emails/work, if you must. The little village of Arroyo Secco is just minutes down the road with several eateries, a small market & some fun & artsy shopping! Be sure to say "HI!" To Michael @ ACEQ, an incredible restaurant with a very impressive beer & wine selection .

The place is super clean with cozy atmosphere. In particular I want to highlight the scenic view from the house, just amazing. Having Sol food market nearby made our stay feel home far away from home. Will definitely be back next time we are in Taos

La casita was incredible. Kris and David made us feel right at home. La casita is beautiful and very cozy. We cannot think of a better place to stay in Taos.

The setting is extraordinarily beautiful. A trail head for a mountain stream trail head is half-mile away while a pleasant walk to Arroyo Seco for morning coffee is a tree lined mile away. The casita itself was quiet, serene and nicely appointed. The host's attention to small details and amenities made plans my stay comfortable and pleasant. I'm looking forward to another visit.

The casita is off set from Arroyo Seco and fulfills its promises of expansive views and seclusion. The property is on a very large plot of land, and the only other company we had were te several farm animals. The hosts were very hospitable and stayed up to welcome us and give us a brief tour. This place is great. Absolutely no complaints.
