Feel comfortable with your own private space, not a room in someone else's home!

The Space

Enjoy staying in a private room with a double bed in Buffalo's lively and historic Elmwood Village!

Guest Access

The historic rooming house contains many private rooms occupied primarily by individual, long term tenants. The rooms share multiple bathrooms and a large kitchen space. You are welcome to use the kitchen, but please be neat! Secure lockers in the kitchen are available for the storage of dry foods. The kitchen contains two large, shared refrigerators where you are able to keep perishables. Because the bathroom is shared, we ask that you are courteous, keep it clean and leave personal items in your room. Coin operated washer and dryer in the basement are available for guest use.

Common areas and hallways are professionally cleaned on a regular basis. First floor lounge contains a tv with cable, vhs & dvd players. The lounge is available for private gathering if reserved with enough notice.

Interaction with Guests

I want to do my best to make your stay in Buffalo great and are ready to provide any suggestions or advice to help you enjoy your stay! I do not live on site, but live nearby and am a phone call away if you have any questions or concerns! I also have attentive building managers for additional help on site.

I work during the day, so a check in after six pm is ideal, but can make arrangements for an earlier check if given a couple days notice!

The Neighborhood

We are located within walking distance of a wide variety of restaurants and coffee shops. Buffalo has a great reputation for its art and architecture community, so while you're here take a look at the Albright Knox or Burchfield Penny Gallery and take one of Buffalo's many architectural tours.

The Elmwood village contains hundreds of locally owned shops and boutiques. If these don't suit your style, we are located just 15 minutes away from the area's largest shopping center, Walden Galleria Mall.

Niagara Falls (30 minutes away) and Toronto ( about an hour away) also make great excursions during your stay in Buffalo.

We are located near many of the area's colleges, including Buffalo State, University of Buffalo, D'Youville & Canisius! And hospitals, particularly, Women & Children's, Buffalo General, Roswell and Sister's.

Getting around

There is plenty of alternate street parking is available. If you come without a vehicle, there are bus stops within walking distance!

  • My experience with Emily was great. She represents the property but is not an on-site host. As far as making reservations and answering communications, she is on top of it. Regarding the place, my room was very spacious, the bed was comfy, and the house was clean. It's a pretty, old house with everything you need and fairly priced. What surprised me was that it's a bit like camping because you have to take everything with you in and out of the bathroom, including TP (which you will be given a roll at check in.) The ceiling in the kitchen is low so if you are tall, plan on eating out or bending down. It's also quite a quiet environment and feels like you are the only one there. If you want lively or social, not your best match if you're there to study, it's great. I was stayed there while doing a summer program at Buffalo State College and it was a bit more of a walk than I would have chosen but there are easy buses available. Elmwood Ave is close by and that is a plus. All in all, kinda quirky but fair for the price.

  • This was my second stay at this same location, this time with my wife as well. The room is spacious, it's perfect for working from there, quiet for sleeping and clean. While the bathroom is shared, I never had to wait to use it, and it too is kept clean. During the coldest weather in decades, the building and room where still warm. All together, the building and room are charming, comfortable, clean, wonderfully located for walking around Elmwood Village, and a great deal for anybody staying in Buffalo. My wife initially had reservations about having a shared bathroom, but once there, she fully approved of the arrangement. Don't let this deter you. Finally, Emily is a great host and happy to offer up neighborhood suggestions. I highly recommend both the room/building and Emily.

  • Had a wonderful stay at buffalo! Emily was a wonderful host. Emily was very easy going about our late arrival. She was friendly and answered all our questions. Emily was even going to let us stay an extra night when we had problems with our bus, the bus problems ended up getting fixed and she was ok with that too! During our stay we took a bus up to niagara falls - easy enough taxi to greyhound bus 10-15 dollars and return trip was 14.40 dollars. We really enjoyed the big clean room which was lovely and warm. The shower was nice and hot and there was a handy kitchen downstairs. Thanks very much

  • Wonderful (email hidden)ly and Historic Elmwood Village.
Emily was a great host- Victor and the other gentlemen very nice as wellwho run the property.Very hospitable and right there to greet me! I have stayed here twice now and would def. stay again. I loved the room- so spacious- view of the trees and Richmond avenue with the beautiful victorians.
The entire place was very clean and nicely appointed. My room was quiet- there are a number of other people staying here - they were all very kind and my room never heard a peep out of anyone. The bathrooms are updated and clean as well.
you even get your own toilet paper! ha
The location was excellent- just a few blocks from elmwood- a great street from Buffalo state and albricht Knox all the way down to chippewa street there are bars, jazz, karaoke, great restaurants, antiques, retro and grocery stores, greek restaurants. shopping.
And the house is situated 2 blocks from The Left Bank, and essex pub- excellent food - darts and pool table- old style like NYC Old town bar and Grill. Then a few more blocks and you are a 5 points BAkery - a popular bakery with gluten free baked goods and great coffee. Owners are always there and very Friendly. Thank you Emily - your a terrific host!

  • Emily,
Yours was the first boarding house we stayed in, and we were a bit skeptical --- but it was just great! We loved the house, the room, and the location -- it fit perfectly into that beautiful neighborhood feel. Wonderful restaurants nearby, so close to everything. You were responsive, flexible and so easy to work with, thank you. We'll be back!
