Domenico was the consummate host (and he loves jazz!). But for my husband and I, he went above and beyond. Two days prior to our arrival in Rome, my husband sustained a knee injury that limited his mobility substantially. Domenico and I had already arranged that he pick us up at Termini, so that worked out well. A couple days later, the knee problem got worse, and we decided that crutches were needed. Domenico picked me up and drove me clear across Rome to an orthopedic farmacia to purchase a pair of crutches, and then back to Trastevere. He could not have been nicer about it, and we are forever grateful.
As for the apartment: it's perfect for two people who want to explore this fascinating part of Rome. The food, the nightlife, the shopping. It's all there, without the "big city" feel that Rome has across the river. But it's also so well located, that getting to all the major tourist destinations is not a problem, even on foot. (I walked from the apartment to Vatican City, to Piazza Navona, to the Pantheon and back in about six hours; taking my time, of course, and visiting several artistically interesting sites and churches along the way. Oh, and had a very nice lunch at an off-the-trail restaurant near Piazza Navona. All that said, there is a taxi stand just a block away near Piazza Trilussa.)
Artevere was the perfect coda to our two week trip in Italy, and when we return to Rome, we will definitely book it (website hidden): Bonus, being directly above La Renella!
PPS: That shower is amazing!
The listing was accurate as described. Domenico was a very kind, accommodating host. The apartment was comfortable for a night, though located on a very popular, noisy street!
I was traveling with my parents throughout different places within europe, and, even if the places where we stayed were very good, this was the best. It was very well located, within a beautiful neighbourhood, and very safe by nights. The flat was exactly how it is in the pictures. Domenico was waiting for us when we arrived, and he explained us everything about the neighbourhood and a tips to improve our staying in Rome. Moreover the city is wonderful. Definitely I would like to come back soon to the same place.
Che dire di Domenico?
L'accoglienza garbata e attenta dopo un viaggio. E quel "Ikea free", all'ingresso...
As arranged, we arrived in Rome at 9:00pm on a cold wet night. I telephoned the host and told him of my E.T.A at the apartment. Domenico said that he was not far from where we were and he would meet us at the apartment. We arrived about 15 minutes later in a taxi to find that we had been ripped off by the taxi driver who took us round and around Rome in the dark and charged us 16 euros for what should have been a 3-kilometer ride. It was a pity Domenico didn't offer to pick us up seeing he was very near to where we were. The apartment was clean and tidy but sadly the advertisement said sleeps four but only one double bed was made up. There was no tea or coffee to welcome the guests so Domenico apologised and went away and came back about 1 1/2 hours later with more sheets and some "Green Tea" for us. There was a mouldy smell in the bathroom and there was no soap for the shower. This might sound nit-picking, but these are basic requirements. The television was not user friendly, OK maybe if I was a tekko but I like to think that I am computer savie and pretty proficient with modern electrical appliances but I had difficulties getting this TV to work. Another unsatisfactory experience with Airbnb and what will be our last.
Excelente ubicación!! Domenico es muy amable, todo siempre muy limpio y muy espacioso! Nos encanto
We absolutely loved staying at Domenico's apartment. Not only it's located in a superb area but it's also extremely artsy and cool. Grazie mille!
