My husband and I stayed here after our wedding and everything was perfect! From the cleanliness and cuteness of the cottage, to the amazing view of the mountains the next morning. Our only complaint is that we wished we could have stayed longer! Roseanne is so warm and welcoming and we will definitely be back! : )
Bailey's Retreat Cottage was our first experience using AirBNB and it was such a positive experience. The place is exactly as you see in the photos posted. Very homey with all appliances provided for you and even with all the other cottages being rented, it was super quiet! The welcoming basket of pumpkin bread + chips was wonderful considering we were starving from our long drive. The first night, we went to the outlook area and met Roseanne and Bill and they were very nice and let us check out the cabin since it wasn't being rented at the time. Even their friends who were visiting with them were friendly and talked to us about what to see in Charlottesville. Not to mention, the view was stunning! After that initial interaction, we didn't speak to them again and they respected our privacy. The cottage is only a 20 minute drive away from the town of Charlottesville + Monticello, but it didn't seem that far away when we were driving. We would highly recommend this place to our friends and anyone who wants to come to Charlottesvile but doesn't want to stay right in the busy city. We will even come here again if we ever find ourselves visiting Virginia again (& be sure to stay longer than a weekend!)
The cottage was exactly as listed. My friends and I enjoyed our stay at cottage #1.
Roseanne always promptly replied to all inquiries I made before and all inquiries my friends made during our stay.
My friend loved it so much she recommended the place to other friends.
The cottage was beautiful and in such a lovely secluded location, yet still within easy reach of Charlottesville. Keys were easy to find in the lock box on the door. We spent a wonderful night there sitting on the deck watching the sun go down. Everything was provided, the bed is super comfortable, the shower is great - a wonderful bolt hole!
What a great place! This was the perfect type of place for us--a great little escape destination. The location was ideal for us, about 20 minutes from downtown Charlottesville, and about 30 minutes from Shenandoah. We live in a busy town, so wanted something in a quieter locale, but still close to amenities. The views were spectacular from the property--we could see the entire southern section of Shenandoah, and went out to watch the sunset both nights we were there. We did not make use of the big communal outdoor fireplace, but it's just another reason to go back. We enjoyed ambling about the property with our 10 month old son as well--there are a couple of little pond with the spring peepers chirping, and our son went nuts over the black vultures that were often circling over head. The hosts were great--we only met Bill, but he gave us some great tips on what to do locally, and Roseanne was available by text for any additional questions we had. We are considering a second trip with a bunch of our friends and renting all the units! Unit was very comfy and cozy, just had a strong odor of paint fumes, which will obviously decrease with time. Looking forward to our next trip.
Wonderful location, terrific hospitality, kind and responsive hosts. Absolutely worth visiting... this was my second time staying with Roseanne and Bill, and I will be back again and again.
