Very convenient location - easy to access from Metro. Room was rather small and better suited for one person, or a couple with not too much luggage.
Hector provided a map of the city and offered suggestions on where to go.
the location is perfect, close to metro and really near to the beach. bathroom was clean (except full waste bin), room not really, but the queen size bed was ok. i had booked two nights but decided, not to stay for the second night, because i did not really want to sleep another night in this room without a view, which was also a bit too warm.
Staying with Hector was an enjoyable experience, and it's a great place to stay for a few of days. Hector is a jolly, gentle man and almost makes you feel like you're staying with your Dad. His son is very quiet and polite.
There are a lot of contradicting comments on here so I'll try to clear some of them up: The room is indeed "small," but a relative size for Spanish buildings of its age. If you're looking for a room you can hang out in for the day, then this might not be the place for you, but the room and the bathroom were VERY clean. The bunk beds and mattresses looked brand new. The apartment is air conditioned but it doesn't reach the bedrooms that well. However, there are fans in the rooms, so it's cool at night.
The location is great (exactly 15 minutes from the beach at a comfortable pace - we timed it). And very central to everything else worth seeing in Barcelona. Hector even gave us instructions for public transit.
Hector’s English isn’t fantastic, but it's enough to guide you to tapas places, bars, sights, and must-sees (his English was also better than our Spanish, so we were grateful).
We would definitely stay here again.
Pretty easy going experience, Hector helped me when I asked for. Everything was clean and organized. The place is really well located, out from the buzz and close to the best spots.
Hector is a very friendly and welcoming host. We stayed at the picasso room for 2 nights, since our other reservation in Barcelona was canceled. Hector agreed to host us on very short notice, which was nice of him! The room and the bathroom are clean and the flat is situated very central in Barcelona but not in a touristic area which is perfect. Moreover, there are supermarkets and a metro stop as well as a train station around and you can walk to the beach in 10 minutes. Unfortunately it was very hot when we went there so the ventilator didn't really help the heat in the room. I would recommend staying there.
This is a super clean, super convenient room. At about the cost of a hostel and with a nice bathroom it's a no-brainer. No air-con, but with high ceilings and a good fan it's not an issue. Hector is a really nice, easy going guy and his kid is way cute. Communication was rapid and the place is easy to find. Really close to the beach which I loved, and only 100m from a major metro stop. There's a great nightclub/bar district nearby too - rock bars and major nightclubs that are far less touristy and a rip off than near La Rambla.
Thank you Hector - I will be back!!!!
Lovely place, I spent 12 days in hector's flat. I like the respect they accord visitors. While I do not speak spanish this was not a problem whatsoever to Hector, i enjoyed my stay.
Welcoming is always very important at the beginning of a holidays. Hector immediately welcomed us and gave us different options which made our two days in Barcelona a pleasant trip.
His family is lovely. His kid is adorable.
We spent a nice time in Hector's place.
I enjoyed my time at Hector´s place. He was a friendly and gracious host. The home is close to the beach and also the university. The home was always kept nice and tidy. One nice benefit of staying in a home, is the fact that Hector and his family greeted me warmly every time that I came in the door. The breakfast is simple, but hector has a nice coffee machine and brews a good brew.
