Lindsay was a fantastic host. I arrived very very early in the morning but she organised for a taxi to pick me up from the airport and arranged for me to stay in a different apartment to that I originally requested for the rest of that morning/day while I got settled and waited for the original room to become habitable.
She helped me with some of my Spanish, and showed me maps and gave me directions around town. When I was suffering from the cold she recommended that I go down to coroico, and then called the taxi for me, gave me information about the area, and even let me to leave some of my things at her apartment for the weekend while I was away.
The apartment is in San Pedro, and is easy walking distance from the tourist district and the markets but also far enough away that it is not overrun by the same sort of bustle, although the streets are still very busy. It seemed safe and easy to navigate, and was very near a range of beautiful streets through Sopocachi and San Pedro.
The house was spacious and clean, the bed warm and comfortable, and the shower had hot water (at Bolivian water pressure, but could be made very hot!) The Wi-Fi was considerably better than a lot I have used. There was a washing machine which we were allowed to use for our laundry, and the kitchen had saucepans and other basic utensils. All in all it was a very livable and comfortable place with an exceptionally helpful and friendly host, and I would love to stay there again when I am next in La Paz.
