Extremely private romantic, unique, soulful retreat on 11 pristine acres w/ pool, hot tub & dreamy outside shower that look out to a stunning poppy spotted hillside, trees of fruit, walnut & oak. Renew in nature only 12 minutes from downtown SB
PURE MAGICAL WELL LOVED LAND & YURT off secluded private drive. Extremely serene, quiet setting with peaceful gorgeous energy, green growing things and fine air. This stunning 11 acre property graced with oak, pepper, sycamore and walnut trees is surrounded by private trails, more land and national forest. Santa Barbara is stunning place to be ALL year round.. summer and spring obviously but fall and winter are equally gorgeous and kind weather wise (fall/ winter my personal favorite when the colors are extra deep and vibrant) - this land. is.... a true expression of the beauty of Santa Barbara being within the mountains and minutes from the ocean.
I wish to say before going into the description... how SO very sweet and satisfying it's been for me to share this special land with the amazing people coming through making life memories.. eloping or having their first romantic get away after having children etc.. I think because I truly LOVE, love opening my home and land up to others, it makes for a very different kind of experience energetically. It's been a real honor for me to be hostess!
Though I've been having beautiful guests stay on the land, in the main house, I am new to sharing the YURT!! People have been asking when oh when will it be available??!!! and well.. the time has come! Yay!! If you'd like to read reviews and get a feel for what the experience is like here, please go to the page for the main house to read what people are sharing.. It's called: MAGIC RETREAT HOME ON 11 ACRES
The spacing between the house and yurt is situated on different corners of the property with no visual, sonic proximity! A happy thing!
PLEASE NOTE: If you are interested in staying, I always like to connect by phone before bringing anyone to my home, this amazingly special land to meet, say hello and answer any questions you might have. In order to do this PLEASE BE SURE TO SELECT "VOICE CONNECT" when you make your inquiry for a reservation so I can call you directly. Many thanks!!
Now, back to why this place is UTTER PARADISE!...
The Yurt is a very soulful, sexy, romantic space. Very different from being in a normal house structure. It's like your camping in a way.. hearing the sounds of outside, of the wind.. but then you're in this very luxurious extraordinarily dreamy realm. For those of you who don't know, a yurt is a round structure with wood floors, a round skylight at the top of the dome and very heavy canvas that can withstand any weather... a most interesting architecture. It's very warm and soulful. The hillside where it resides provides beautiful trees and sweetest feel of openness.. a small trail that leads up to a 2 seater lounge swing overlooking the entire mountain range of Santa Barbara begins just outside the door. Amazing surround sound system for your dancing pleasure. Also available DVD player and WI. No internet. This is for those who wish to really recalibrate... though most smart phones (internet) will function from the sweet spots on the property. I myself are on Verizon.. have no issue using phone and internet from my smart phone.
The bathroom and shower are not adjacent to the yurt (this is NOT for everyone! and PERFECT for others!!) It's a short walk away... about 500 feet or so?.. a dreamy stroll down the dirt country road through the small fruit orchard.. a short journey just as stunning by day as by night.
When the sun's gone down, the land is lit up beautiful with lights leading you to where you need to go. Or the stars and moon will do the same!
The outside shower experience is one of the best things about being in this amazing place. A gorgeous private wood structure looking out to the most glorious views of the hillside, trees. You can't imagine how GOOD this is!!
Pool and hot tub (90 percent of the time I estimate) you'll have to yourself. Being in the center of the pool on a hot summer day is one of the most epic of feelings surrounded by all the nature, trees, living things. So luxurious, yet so Earthy and soulful.
Mor about the yurt. As you can see by the pictures, it is very light and open. A complete living room/ bedroom/ eating area all in one. French doors lead out to a private deck. Perfect for stargazing or just laying in the sweet sun. The land surrounding is an extension of the living space.
A private hiking trail (horse trail) begins from your door, a 5-10 minute walk to sweeping views of the whole Santa Barbara coastline. Hear and watch the beautiful birds.. hawks, crows and small singing ones.. howls of distant coyotes by night and the occasional sighting of a bob cat.
The yurt in short is just an epic place to dwell recalibrate, renew in both nature and luxury.
Now, there is no kitchen in the yurt. SO... being that I am pretty much an extraordinary cook specializing in bringing forth the incredible local organic year round produce.... I had the thought to offer to guests (by request and additional cost) a meal or two which could be brought up to the yurt or eaten down at the main house where we can hang out while I cook for you! I hate to say it because there are some pretty fantastic restaurants in town.. but I would be VERY surprised if you found food as good as mine. Something about home cooking by someone who worships food and the highest quality ingredients.. equal parts healthy and gourmet. OR, I certainly can point you in the right direction if eating out is what you prefer!
BUT either way!! EGGS! Here on the land, I have 14 wonderful hens who lay daily in the non cold months of the year. Happy to provide hard boiled or take fresh ones home with you!
Ahh... what else? The sun is supreme here, the air quality medicinal and the weather has a habit of being a perfectly kind 73 degrees and sunny. Hang out by day or by moon with the countless places to dwell.
The incredible thing about this place is that it's a mere 2 miles to shopping malls, Whole Foods and restaurants (5 minutes) and 10 minutes to downtown Santa Barbara. We're also just 30 minutes from Santa Ynez, Los Olivos, Solvang (wine country). The land is unique because it feels like you're very remote and off the grid out in nature (which you are) but then it's just minutes to get anywhere in Santa Barbara. Very find rare to find such a spot with so much surrounding private serene land!
The setting is ideal for two adults or one solo soul looking to retreat.
Again.. to say... how I so love having people here.. part of the unfolding story of this special dwelling. I've marveled and appreciated so much how everyone has treated this place with honor, respect.. all of us taking good care with it so it's here for everyone's enjoyment. Makes me glad!!!
I am usually present on the land in my "own neck of the woods" in my barn (so I'm around if needed by text) or it may be that you have the 11 acres to yourself or share with 2 other guests in the main house (also a stunning space.. very different from the yurt).
Usually I will greet you briefly, warmly so I can answer any questions and then because there's so much space, there is rarely any overlap. So it's a very private experience.
I am fairly new to this site and to having guests here, so there aren't a ton, ton of reviews though I think you get the feel for the testimonials that are present. Also, the photographs... I have to say, DO NOT GIVE JUSTICE to this home and land. You'll know what I mean when you get here. And then there's that element photos cannot capture anyway.. the stillness, the very open, natural setting but with a feeling of complete safety. It's a very special zone in which to unravel the nervous system, revise and renew. Hope to share it with you!
P.s. OTHER OFFERINGS:
I have chickens who are fed very well laying all organic epic EGGS! When they are laying (not so much in the winter months. chickens will take a break when it's "cold")... I will be showering you with them for your breakfast making pleasure (hard boiled or you can take some home!). I also provide organic whole bean coffee and tea.
Also of course the best natural shampoo, conditioner and soap!
Pool, hot tub area (extremely private area/ on rare occasion shared with house guests/ usually no overlap), giant trampoline, swings and land. Outside shower/ bathroom is a common space to my barn.. but most likely we will not be overlapping.
Interaction with Guests
I love being available via text and in person if needed. I take total pleasure in making guests feel welcomed and cared for.
TerraMoon Amore is off a private drive off highway 154 which is 2 miles from the 101 and 12 minutes from downtown Santa Barbara, 5 minutes from uptown (whole foods etc..) and 35 minutes from Solvang, Los Olivos, Santa Ynez wine country! Adjacent to the property are other large parcels and national forest. We're on 11 natural acres surrounded by open land. Again only 12 minutes from downtown Santa Barbara and 5 minutes from uptown.) It's amazing how off the grid you feel here, like your far out in nature on retreat, yet so close to town as well as some of the most stunning hiking trails Santa Barbara has to offer.
Car is best!
Other Things to Note
Be prepared to be lusciously renewed and reorganized!
This is a retreat offering.. a place to unravel, renew, reorganize. Though community is a lovely thing, this is not the time or place to invite guests or have parties sorry to say. Perfect for people who wish to enjoy the nature Santa Barbara has to offer as well as taking advantage of the cosmopolitan attractions of the city.
Below some information about the space and land here. By agreeing to be a guest at my home through airbnb, you are agreeing to not hold me in any way liable/responsible for accidents, injury etc.. You are a visitor of this magic, sweet home and land and are agreeing to be here at your own risk!
Really pleased to get to share in this remarkable place with you and appreciate you taking great care with it. Mutual respect and gratitude is the energy of this exchange and makes for a beautiful experience all around. Hope being here is as inspiring to you as it is to me and my family.
YURT & BATH-HOUSE INFO FOR YOU!
Ah, feel free to open all the windows and doors. One of the most beautiful things about this place is using the outside as an extension of your living space. Stretch out and feel welcome!
CHECK IN/ CHECK OUT:
You may arrive as early as 2:00pm and checkout is by 11:00am. Please let me know when you will be arriving so I can greet you and show you around!
There are no keys to the yurt or bathhouse. If there is something truly valuable to you, please bring along when you go out. For myself, I don't lock my home. Feels very safe here, but do what feels right to you!
Ah clean!! Please respectfully leave the space as you found it. Cleaning fee goes towards taking care of surfaces, your sheets/towels, shower... basic stuff like that. Anything beyond normal use, $20/ hour is applied. Thank you so much for helping to make the home beautiful for you and others to share!
SPACES FOR YOUR THINGS and PRIVATE AREAS:
Some closet and drawer spaces are provided for your things. Private areas including cabinets and such will labeled 'private' OR will have a BROWN STRING attached to make it easier for you to know where to go and not to.
IMPORTANT FIRE THINGS:
1. NO SMOKING!!
Even outside NO smoking! We have to be EXTREMELY careful as Santa Barbara is coastal desert and extremely prone to fire especially at the yurt as it is surrounded by dry grass and brush. Thank you!
2. WOOD BURNING STOVE:
Unless we are in the rainy season and there is rain... the wood burning stove is not permitted for use!!
3. NO CANDLE or OIL LAMP BURNING!
I do have lots of beautiful ambient lights.. so feel free to get your environment beautiful that way. Thank you!!
All the ambient lighting is on one switch! Just flick it on and... well.. very romantic! You can also dim it as much or little as you like as there is a slider which allows you to choose how ambient. You can also design your own lighting by turning individual lights on and off by their individual switches or plugs.
Plans are underway for a deck railing designed from tree branches (i.e. GORGEOUS!). So although the deck is solid and safe in itself, until a railing is up, I am asking people to not use it for safety assurance! Many thanks.
STEREO and DVD player:
Turn DVD/CD player turn on, eject.. disk in.. close, press play.
Amp must be turned on (unit on the right) select DVD player for DVD and CDs alike. Volume knob is there on the right. Please turn off both units when not in use.
To use your Ipod or phone use the hanging cable to plug in. Select AUX on the amp to listen!
To play WI and watch DVD movies: turn TV on and press the very left button until you get a view of your movie or WI.
EGGS, OH YES!
Delicious and organic. I can send you off with some fresh eggs to take home with you if you'd like! (Sad warning: Chickens do not lay eggs year round. They rest themselves in the fall/winer.)
Provided to use while you are here for hot tub, bath house or night hiking adventures!
SHOWER BATH - HOUSE
The bath house is a beautiful 1-2 minute walk from the Yurt, situated near the pool/hot tub area, in the fruit tree orchard. It is a clean, private common space (not shared with house guests). This may be one of the best parts of being on the land here.. showering day or night under stars or looking out to the gorgeous expanse all around. Beautifully recalibrating!
NUMBER 1, NUMBER 2
You may.. uh number 1 outside BUT to ALWAYS always respect the land by disposing of your tissue in the trash in the yurt. NO NO NO number 2 buried or otherwise outside. ONLY use the plumbing which is the bath house toilet by outside shower for this). Thank you!!
LIGHTING YOUR WAY
There is a light switch on the deck of the bath house to the left of the door to the toilet. This switch turns on lighting for the deck as well as the orchard path leading to the road and yurt.
Simply turn the LEFT KNOB ONLY (not right knob) for the perfect temperature. To change the hotness or coldness, you do so from the bathroom (water heater is above toilet).. turn left knob (above toilet) for desired shower temperature. It is very sensitive.. so a small turn will go a very long way to hotter or colder depending on what you want!
I will provide filtered drinking water in the yurt. Faucet outside if needed for any other water needs
On occasion, there may be 1-2 cute little frogs living in the outside bathroom area. Feel free to gently place them outside your working zone if you'd like.
Please use luxurious large colored pool towels for the pool, house towels for bathing in the house. Provided for your use in the cabinet to the left of the bed.
If you need to remove your trash etc... before your stay is over, you may drive it up to where the big dumpster is on our private road situated with the huge piles of dirt and rocks a bit before you get to the highway.. past the bridge and up the hill.
I set up a little coffee station for you in case you are one of the many who consume this mighty drink. Also a selection of teas with electric kettle.
Just by your smart phone in the sweet spots (I am on verizon, which works quite well). No internet (for laptop) up at the yurt = relaxing to the nervous system. Ahhhhh!
POISON OAK WARNING!
If you decide to frolic through the fields or up the horse trail (really beautiful and highly recommend, the trail), be on the look out for POISON OAK. It has 3 leaves, sometimes shiny and red... can be a small or grand sized bush. If you get it, you will be sorry! So don’t touch any plant that you aren’t sure about. Need to be particularly careful around the yurt area. Please stay on clear paths and don't brush up on plants if you can. Wear shoes and remove when you enter the yurt for yours and others' safety. The plant poison is an oil, so if you get it on you, it will transfer to any surface you touch (like shoes to floor etc..) Happy to show you what it looks like and where to look out for it!
There are private magic trails for running or hiking around that begin from the front door of the house or by the yurt! Within minutes you will find yourself looking out at all of Santa Barbara and the coast. Really beautiful. The trail follows the line of the fence by the pool. You can hook onto it before you get to the pool fence. Showing you is best!
Take the trail... keep straight (pass pool fence), cross small bridge, go up a short time through the magic Eucalyptus tree forest and then soon you will be on trails looking over the whole coast line and Santa Barbara. Please BEWARE of POISON OAK that darts into the path particularly around the Eucalyptus trees. Don't touch anything you are not sure about and remain in the center of the path and all will be well. Also, please observe neighbor "no trespassing" signs. Thank you!
POOL/ HOT TUB-
This area is a common space for all on the land.. which is no more than 6-8 people at any given time. Typically you will have to yourself as everyone seems to magically take turns.
Please rinse off before entering the hot tub. If you are in need of a good washing, do that first before the hot tub or pool so we can keep the waters lovely for each other.
1. Always close and lock and have hot tub cover evenly covered.
2. Open from the panel side. You can flip the whole thing open once inside easier thus keeping the framework in place.
3. Be sure jets are OFF when leaving the hot tub.
It’s a strange shape, so when you jump, jump far or you may get scratched! Doesn’t feel good.
GARDENER/ HELPING HANDS:
You may encounter the sweet people that help maintain the land. I will always try to give you a heads up on any workers we have here.
Quiet in the valley 9pm. Feel free to watch movies all night long. That sound doesn't carry much.
If you need to reach me, please do so by cell phone or TEXT: (phone number hidden). I will likely be staying in my barn during your visit here, so available to help you out if needed BUT only by phone and not by door. Thank you!
The Yurt was truly an unforgettable experience. We were looking to escape the chaos of the city and recharge amongst nature, and this was absolutely the perfect way to do exactly that. Jennifer has created a restorative space with the right balance of comfort and style and integration of Mother Nature. The outdoor shower was definitely a highlight, what more could you want than showering with sunshine and rainbows? Highly recommend the yurt, it was even closer to downtown SB than we anticipated. Will definitely return! Thank you for allowing us into your land and space Jennifer!
The Yurt is welcoming, nice and serene, the space and ambiance amazing! Surrounded by nature, peace and calmness.
A soft breeze in the afternoon, hot tub by moonlight...
It was the PERFECT place to reconnect and decompress, the vibe and experience was MAGICAL!
Our host, Jennifer was wonderful, welcoming and warm.
This is a super unique property and experience ~ we would totally come back. Thanks for a great weekend Jennifer.
Wow, where do I start?? Gorgeous property and an incredible experience to stay in Jennifer's yurt under the stars and in nature's paradise. We arrived and were pleasantly welcomed by Jennifer who showed us around and gave us the lay of the land. We spent the rest of the weekend enjoying the no wifi, quiet, natural environment while escaping city life and nurturing back to a healthy mind, body, and soul. What a place to do just that.
Great communication, accommodations, and energy. Jennifer was happy to help with anything we needed and was so attentive as a host, while giving all the privacy we wanted.
When she speaks of her cooking... just say YES and plan a meal with her. We were lucky enough to have our last night's dinner planned, cooked, and delivered to the yurt by Jennifer and her sweet daughter who made the desserts herself. The next morning we also took advantage of Jennifer's offering to make us breakfast with fresh eggs from her hen and fresh greens juice. Also amazing.
One of my most memorable air b and b experiences to date. So blessed for a chance to connect with people and nature in such a beautiful and thoughtful way.
HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend for anyone who wants to leave the wifi and cell phones behind, eat great food, be in nature, and get back to the good stuff that makes being a human so magical.
Go and enjoy. Trust the reviews. They are all spot on.
Jennifer was welcoming. Came to the yurt gave us a quick run through of how everything worked. Gave great recommendations for hikes, restaurants, beaches, yoga classes. Facilitated hot tub time with house guests to be sure we all had our own agreed upon time to relax. The pool was not swimmable, many tadpoles and not sure what else as I couldn't see to the bottom of the pool, but as stated in the description by Jennifer herself it is going to be renovated soon. We came on a very warm weekend and the yurt was hot during the day, but was perfect at night. It is very close to downtown Santa Barbara, but far enough away so you feel secluded except for the distant sound of cars on the freeway which weren't bothersome. My boyfriend and I had a great weekend. Thanks, Jennifer!
All of Jennifer's descriptive writing about the land and yurt is overflowing with love and excitement for good reason -- it's all true! What a special place! We sought a chill & beautiful spot away from the buzz of the city and were rewarded with this private, gorgeous landscape and way cool yurt. We brought our food and wine, hiked up into the hills at sunset to a view of the ocean, used the hot tub at night, hung out on the deck under a super starry sky, relaxed in the cozy atmosphere of the yurt, enjoyed the sunny morning and the quiet breezy day on the property. A little hidden oasis of California, we are so glad we found it!
ps - be sure to bring your food and drinks so you don't have to go into town for a day or two :)
Wow, what a gem of a place! My sister and I stayed in the yurt for two nights and both consider it our favorite getaway to date. The yurt is unique, cozy, and beautiful. The deck is a perfect place to star gaze and connect. While the property feels like you are far away from city-life, it was only a quick car ride to town for brunch. After brunch we took a nap/read in the yurt with a perfect cross breeze flowing over the bed. The trails from the property take you to stunning views of the ocean. We brought a small picnic and stayed to watch the sunset. Truly amazing. The yurt and main house are much closer to the barn than I thought but Jennifer is so warm and welcoming it wasn't an issue. We felt honored to be on the land she shares with her family. She left us citrus and a bouquet of wild flowers in the outhouse, so sweet! I highly recommend this place for anyone wanting to rejuvenate, refresh, and rest.
Jennifer was such a kind host, making sure we found the yurt okay when we arrived later in the evening. She offered recommendations and seemed truly interested in making sure we enjoyed our stay. The location is beautiful, scenic and a wonderful place to unwind and relax. Beautiful hiking is located right behind the yurt, we had the best views and only ran into a couple of trail riders on their horses. The location is great because it feels very private but also able to get to any location in Santa Barbara very easily. My boyfriend and I loved staying here!
