There is no picture or review that will EVER touch the magic of this place! It is quiet, remote, romantic and perfect. Perfect for weekends away with your spouse, perfect for a glamping (that's glamor camping) trip with the family, perfect for getting away for some alone time! Although this place has all the modern conveniences, like electricity and running water, my husband and I LOVE to bring candles and create a romantic/rustic atmosphere... ;) I recommend this beautiful cabin to EVERYONE... If you are looking for a rustic private retreat from city life then you've found what you're looking for. Precious Forest is a wonderful site to have a wedding. It's a long road up the mountain but worth the drive. This is where beauty and adventure meet to create the space for your guests to gather. If you enjoy camping, cabins, cozy wood burning stoves, kind and attentive pets and an escape from city madness, then this is the place for you! My wife and I had a wonderful wedding and vacation in Precious Forest. The cabin is romantic and cozy, the grounds spacious and exactly what we were looking for. We were even able to have my rock band play outside at our reception. Really fun! Ken and Katie are hard working, kind and gracious hosts who made my wife and I and our newly combined families feel very comfortable and welcome. They also provided our catering with an amazing feast which was enjoyed by all. We really appreciate the time we spent there and have many fond memories we will cherish for a lifetime.

  • If you're looking for an off the grid getaway without sacrificing comfort and accessibility, this is the place.

I spent my birthday weekend here with seven of my closest friends. We all had a great time. There was plenty of room for all of in the chalet to cook and hang out – a good thing, since it was cold and rainy. Six slept in the chalet and my girlfriend and I took yurt, which we loved. It was a very relaxing weekend.

Ken (email hidden). He gave us a thorough walkthrough of the place and made sure that if we needed anything he was only a call away. He provided us with sufficient firewood, extra towels and gas for the generator.

We all loved the ruggedness of the place – from the wood cook stove to the outdoor bathroom and showers. The gas fireplace and wood cook stove heated the chalet very (website hidden) on the stove was one of our favorite things about the weekend.

I'd love to visit again when the weather is a little nicer, because there is such a nice area outside to hangout. Saturday cleared up enough for us to get a bonfire going in the big fire pit, which was a lot of fun, but then rain came again and forced back inside.

There were other guests in the two other listings which are set up on the hill behind the chalet. I was little concerned about it at first, but we hardly even noticed anyone else was on the property but us.

    Highly recommended.

  • My partner and I just returned from a wonderful weekend stay in the cabin and it was superb! It was great to disconnect for an entire weekend while enjoying a nice cozy fire. Absolutely amazing.

  • Just got back from my stay at Ken's cabin and had an unforgettable experience living off the grid. Ken was very friendly and accommodating. The cabin experience was very rustic. I especially enjoyed the old stove and gas burning fireplace. Definitely different than my life in the city. There is no electricity and lights are run in the evening by a generator. Driving up the mountain in the snow was also an experience. It was the fresh air, beautiful view, city escape I was looking for, just know what you're getting into. I loved every minute of it. Thank you Ken!

  • Just perfect. Spent 3 nights here over new year with good friends, and it was stunning. Lit a campfire under the stars, made amazing food in the smoker and on the old stove. We were perfectly comfortable, the gas fire and good insulation kept the cabin nice and toasty warm. Hung out with the adorable dog Dip. Had electricity (including internet) from the generator any time we needed it, but most of the time we were happy to just switch off and disconnect. Amazing sunsets and stunning views made it easy to just sit up on the deck for hours and soak it all in.
Ken is an amazing host - checking in every now and again to make sure we had absolutely everything we needed, but otherwise just leaving us to enjoy the tranquility of the property.
    We'll be back for sure.

  • Ken (email hidden): friendly, responsive and flexible. He made us feel very welcome. He's building a bit of a glamping empire with tent cabins and cabins spread across the area. The chalet in the middle of this provides high-end glamping with a wood stove, nice beds, a jacuzzi bathtub and electricity at night. You cannot see it in the pictures but this place has amazing views of the lake. It'(email hidden) to get away from busy city life.

  • Stayed here with 7 buddies--four in the main house, two in the cool yurt thing, and one in the tiny A-frame structure. Definitely worth the small price! Ken was nice enough to throw in the yurt and the A-frame at no charge--no one was renting them at the time we were there. The main house has a really good feel to it, even though it's newly built (by Ken and his dad!). Best part was probably the dog, which comes with the property and is the kindest dog ever. The jacuzzi (!) upstairs was nice to soak in, but the jets didn't work at the time: this is essentially meaningless but it sticks out as the only flaw in an otherwise fantastic stay. Clear Lake itself is a little trashy but has some charm--diners, the local radio station, and the natural (website hidden) to stay here if you're planning on staying at the property most of the time--the drive up/down the hill is REALLY long and steep, and you'd get tired of doing it more than a few times.

  • This place is great. Great combination of cleanliness and ruggedness. The stove is worth the trip, alone. House keeps heat well and it the outdoor shower is great in the morning to wake up with.

  • Ken was an excellent host and maintained great communication. The chalet is even better than it looks online! It's clean, cozy and very romantic. The kitchen has all the tools and utensils you might need and the old iron, wood/propane stove is very fun to cook on. Overall, the experience exceeded my expectations and I can't wait to go back.
