Accoglienza perfetta. L'appartamento è come nelle foto postate, inoltre l'host è estremamente gentile e veloce nel rispondere alle mail.
L'appartamento è proprio accanto a Central Park e comodo per la metro. Lo consiglio vivamente!
We had a rather shaky start as unfortunately Ademar had got the day wrong and so the flat had not been cleaned before we arrived. However the owner was extremely apologetic, everything got sorted out and we went on to have a great stay.
It's a great base for visiting the city and yet it's off the touristy beaten track, and is a regular neighbourhood, not too posh, not too rough, which we really (email hidden)e fact that Central Park is on the doorstep was a wonderful discovery. We even saw wildlife in the form of a racoon in the street down near the park one evening.
We discovered some great pizzas at the local takeaway, and really liked the cosy authentic Japanese restaurant in the parallel street.
The apartment is as described -compact but really well equipped, with really useful stuff like dishwasher,washer/dryer and even home from home extras like a printer and an ipod dock. We didn't find being on the 4th floor a problem, as we needed the exercise after all the New York cuisine we absolutely had to try out, and it also meant it was much quieter than expected and we felt very undisturbed considering how many other people must live around.
Daniel was an awesome host. Being native New Yorker, I can definitely say Daniels apartment and his hospitality is definitely comforting to see in New York. The apartment itself has all the amenities I possibly would have paid more for in a hotel. The location is great! Beside Central Park and only a couple blocks away from 2 subway stations that take you directly into midtown and lower Manhattan. If you're looking to spend sometime out in New York and have a family or are accompanied by friends, consider Daniels hospitality. Although I personally did not get to meet him, accessing the apartment and reaching Daniel for any questions or concerns was no problem at all... Definitely reaching out to him on my next visit home. Thanks Daniel.
This is a great value. Anything in Manhattan (at least, that we could afford!) is going to be small by non-city-dweller standards, and our party of five definitely took up all the available space. But of course one doesn't usually come to NYC only to hang out in the apartment! The fully-functional kitchen was great for fixing breakfasts and snacks, but one could cook all one's meals there if desired (though we also go to NYC to eat in great restaurants...).
As others have noted, the proximity to Central Park and to the subway (esp. the B/C train at 110th, about a 3 min walk) makes this an ideal location for those doing a lot in Manhattan. We had originally planned to stay in Brooklyn, but since a lot of our time is spent in midtown and the museums on the upper east and west sides, this was a much better deal.
We are a mixed American-German family and noted that a lot of the apartment's elements are very European -- from the very efficient use of space to the foreign-language tracks on the available DVDs! Also, the apartment has a wheeled grocery carrier that is standard in European apartments but rare here -- very handy for our one major shopping trip (excellent grocery stores nearby, as noted by others). We also noted that a lot of the reviews are from Europeans who, I'm sure, find the apartment just right for their needs. Some Americans may take note of (1) the five flights of stairs; (2) the shortage of floor space, particularly when the living room couch is folded out to made a bed; (3) the lack of hooks for hanging clothes on the backs of doors and extra towels on the kitchen and bathroom walls; and (4) the windows that don't always close and lock perfectly. None of this bothered us but it might catch some by surprise.
Daniel/Giancarlo was a great host and was very communicative (though he prefers texts to e-mail and so didn't see one of our early e-mails to him -- this may be an airbnb forwarding issue, however). We were able to fix a small problem with the shower with a visit to a local plumbing store that is about 2 minutes' walk away (!) and he is paying for that, even though he wouldn't have had to do so. We appreciated that good will from a host who lives some distance away.
We would definitely stay here again.
We spent a great week at New-York even if it was freezing and snowing ... Daniel's apartment is really really nice : well furnished, well located, nice kitchen ... everything with a good taste ... We were 5 and it was OK. We hopefully go back in the City and if the apartment is available, sure we come back, even with the 5 stairs ! Thanks for all
I love to learn, listen to music, travel, and read. My favorite places to visit are Yellowstone Park, the Northwest U.S., New York, Italy (and the rest of Europe), and any other place I have never been to before. I enjoy meeting new people that are adventorous, fun, and most importantly kind. I'm more than happy to answer any questions you have about or for me. Enjoy life.
