Illa Wasi Center near Machu Picchu

Villa - Entire home/apt · Urubamba, Cuzco, Peru

A magically unique space tucked into the Urubamba mountains of the Sacred Valley. Perfect for retreats, weddings, parties & creative projects. 30 minutes from Machu Pichu, 1hr from Cusco, Illa Wasi is all yours to create an experience of a lifetime.

The Space

Welcome to Illa Wasi Retreat Center - a sacred property for creative and healing use.

When not reserved for retreats and workshops with renowned teachers of the healing arts, conscious dance, world music, tantra, shamanism and yoga, you can hire the whole center for YOU!

Maybe you have a wedding, a family reunion or a creative project to work on with your team? We welcome you. This space is made for CREATING.

This is a very beautiful and unique property in the Sacred Valley of Cuzco, Peru. Situated conveniently close to Machu Pichu, Pisac, Cuzco and all Sacred Valley ruins.

The round houses are traditional Incan Tombos. The design, along with the sacred rock waterfall, pool and mystical creatures adorned in murals throughout the homes, came to the owner in dreams over the span of 10 years.

It is believed that in the new awakened era, all will live in round homes and in community. You can do this now, feel how it is to live surrounded by sacred mountains and hearing the mountain water cascade and flow through the property.

The Tombos

Each house has two bathrooms with hot water, one on the ground floor with a shower and one on the first floor with a jacuzzi. A fully equipped kitchen with stone brick oven / fireplace.
The stone walls are covered in unique murals painted by a local artist.
The houses come with bunk beds, single beds or double size beds.

The location is completely safe yet remote. We are in the mountains with farm land around and some animals such as cows and alpacas nearby.
In the rainy season (Nov-March), there is a possibility of bugs such as water beetles and moths. Please take this into account and expect a mix of rustic living with luxuries such as our relaxing jacuzzi baths.
There's a lot of privacy at Illa Wasi.
Enjoy the waterfall and 360 degree view of the mountains.
Watch the alpacas graze and guard the land.
Play with the puppy.
Kids love the place.
Walk through the farm, pick some apples.

Location

5 minutes from the Plaza de Armas of Urubamba and around 10 minutes from the bus terminal. Walk down the hill to town (15 minutes) or call a taxi.
Via bus you can go anywhere in the Sacred Valley - Only 1 hour to Cuzco, 1 hour to Pisac, 30 minutes to Ollantaytambo where you take the train to Machu Picchu.

Camping space available. Available nightly, weekly and monthly.

Contact us for more information. There is a lot to share as each house is unique and the property is one of a kind.

We recommend checking in during daylight as coming in the dark may make it hard to find for the first time.

Guest Access

When you reserve the center it is all yours. The outdoor area and two houses which sleep up to 12 people. You can pitch tents and use the outdoor space for events.

Interaction with Guests

There is always someone on site on the property so we are available when you need us.

The Neighborhood

We are tucked into the most sacred spot of the Urubamba mountains. With 360 degree views with ruins just steps away ... it's one of a kind.
5 min by moto taxi or a 15 minute walk from the property, you will find yourself in the Plaza de Armas or town square. There you can find restaurants, banks and transportation to the bus station where you can catch a bus to Cuzco, Pisac, Ollantaytambo, the hot springs and other places in the Sacred Valley.

Getting around

Moto taxis will take you into the center in a few minutes. Taxis and buses to Cuzco, Pisac and all Sacred Valley towns under an hour away.

We are 30 minutes away from Ollantaytambo which is where you to take the train to Aguas Calientes for your Machu Picchu trip. This makes us a perfect spot before and after your Machu Picchu journey.

Other Things to Note

Please note that this rental is for the entire space which houses up to 12 people in shared space within two tombos, with plenty of camping space available in the beautiful gardens.

  • We didn't get to meet Eleonora, but Tony was an great host. Urubamba was probably our favorite part of our trip to Peru, mostly because of this amazing retreat.

This place may be hard to find at first, but it really isn't far from town. We walked to town every day, and it took maybe 15 minutes. You can take a mototaxi back up to the house for about 2 soles.

It looks exactly like the pictures - very cute. Since it's out of town just a bit, it's surrounded by farms and trees and it's very quiet. We saw beautiful birds every day that we were there, which I was really excited about.

There is a hot plate and little oven, and all the very basics you need to cook meals (including a coffee pot!), but no refrigerator. That wasn't a big deal for us, though.

There isn't wifi, which we didn't have a problem with because it was nice to be unplugged for a bit. And when we had some transportation issues, Tony let us check e-mail on the computer in his cabin.

The place was very clean, the bed was comfortable, and there was a hot shower which worked sporadically - that's more because Peru has water issues than that there's something wrong with this place. You will encounter this pretty much everywhere. Any problems we had with the water or anything were resolved very quickly by Tony.

Also, there's a fireplace! You should definitely stay here, it was really magical. That's the only way to describe it.

Thanks so much for the review Ashley. I heard wonderful things about you both from Tony. Unfortunately I was in Lima when you were here and am glad to be home. You are welcome back anytime!

Thank you Anibal! Great to have you.

  • This was me and my boyfriends first AB&B and he is now a believer! Eleonir's place was amazing! The location was in a cute little town 1 1/2 hrs away from Cusco. The place is just like the picture shows very beautiful and a huge space. It doesn't have Internet, I believe they are still in the process of getting it and there isn't a fridge but Toni was very generous to let us use his. But honestly that isn't even a problem, we didn't even really needed to use his. It's very easy to get around and being city folks we definitely appreciated the serenity of the place.

If you need advice on how to get there just email them or talk to Toni, they are very helpful. I can't thank Toni enough for his incredible hospitality. Made our trip that much better!

Thanks again! Yes I would definitely recommend this place..The bathtub alone was a great reason for my BF, being able to soak in it after trekking Machu Picchu was amazing!

  • Lodge wasn't ready to receive guests when we booked. No beds (empty house) when we arrived so we were forced to leave and look for another place.
Received a refund minus the airbnb fee.
