Located in a safe historic neighborhood, close to the San Leandro BART, 580, OAK airport, and ten minutes from downtown. Not what you'd expect from Oakland! A truly unique sanctuary complete with a creek, Redwoods, a friendly dog, and experienced vaccinated Superhosts! Couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers love my place because of the the outdoors spaces, the neighborhood, and the thoughtful accommodations.

Guests w/dogs must check in early for an intro.

Beautiful and safe neighborhood close to parks, Starbucks, Rite Aid, and an exceptional market. Hiking trails are accessed through the neighborhood and we are a short drive to Lake Chabot park and golf course. Great area to go jogging, biking, or kayaking at the lake. Uber and Lyft service the area.

A formally trained chef, Melissa spent 15 years in some of the top kitchens in the country before her love of wine won out. She transitioned to the wine industry in 2004 where she began utilizing her skills as an instructor, a writer, and a consultant. Melissa holds a degree and certifications from the Culinary Institute of America, the Court of Master Sommeliers, and the Sake Education Council and continues her education both stateside and abroad with a bucket list of wine regions to visit including New Zealand, Valle de Guadalupe, and Provence. Melissa developed the first app for wine pronunciation, the Enotria Guide, and is the founder of Enotrias, elite sommelier services, providing in home and corporate wine, spirits, and sake seminars, and private cellar management. Though never far from a fantastic bottle of wine, Melissa is an avid gardener, and enjoys taking her two large rescue dogs on adventures in and around the Bay Area with her husband Monte. Traveling to enjoy serenity, education, and culture are Melissa's top priorities to immerse herself in.

During your stay

My husband and I and our dog are in the home but we will make every attempt to keep to ourselves. If I am working from home I will likely pour you a glass of something amazing. Normally we work late shifts at restaurants so likely won't be seen the majority of the time.

A simple breakfast made of primarily organic ingredients is available if requested upon booking, with fresh ground coffee will be set out on the dining room table around 9am. Fresh fruit and vegetables from our garden will also be set out and used when available.

I am heavily ingrained in the food and wine scene and am happy to make recommendations for places to go and things to do in order for you to make the most of your stay.
