  • I'd recommend this studio to anyone. Me and my boyfriend stayed for 3 nights in july and found the flat cosy and clean. It has patina but in a very charming way. We never met Kurt but he answered our questions quickly through the airbnb app.
The location is great and parking was easiliy available.
    We really enjoyed our stay.

  • The studio is located in a great neighborhood. The park across the street is beautiful with tennis courts, basketball courts, picnic table and an area to lay out. I loved being able to walk to Whole Foods every day for breakfast and groceries.

The check in was easy. I never saw Kurt (Brooke was the original host but it changed after I booked the studio) but the check in was easy. The studio has a comfortable bed. It didn't look like it had been professionally cleaned as the mirror and counter in the bathrooms were a bit dirty. However, I was allowed to check in early so maybe there was some rushing to turn the place over from the previous guest to me. There wasn't a top sheet on the bed so I had to dig one out of the closet but it seemed clean so I was okay with it. I never had any issues so I didn't have to contact Kurt. I checked out and texted him but never heard back-hopefully it was all okay.

Overall it was a lovely experience because of the location of the studio and the ease of checking in and out.

  • First I will start off with the good and continue to the bad about this listing. Great location and nice size for two people. Now for the bad. Horrible communication with the main host Brooke. We booked the listing with a female named Brooke. A couple of weeks before traveling I checked my listing to look up the address and the profile had suddenly changed to male named Kurt. I was confused and sent Brooke a message. Kurt replied saying Brooke was out of town and he would be the host. Shouldn't the host send a message informing the client about this instead of learning about the change through the website? When we arrived at the location, the hallway that lead to the room smelled of urine and homeless person. When we entered the room, it smelled just like the hallway. There was a note from the host stating everything had been cleaned and bleached, which was a lie. The sheets and blankets on the bed where filthy. There where stains and crumbs all over. The restroom was even worse! The toilet had shit and piss crust all over the toilet seat. The sink was dusty and had hair. The shower had film of dirt. We had to go out and buy sheets because there was no way we were sleeping in the sheets provided. When we removed the sheets, the mattress had several stains even though there was a note stating the mattress was new. We also had to buy cleaning supplies and clean the entire restroom. When showering, the shower head and tub nozzle ran at the same time and the water did not drain fast enough, so you were showering in about 3 inches of water. Did I mention how grimy the shower curtains were. We showered with the curtain open so we wouldn't touch the disgusting curtains. I wasn't about to buy curtains too. We were also provides two old dirty towels that were damn and smelled. The carpet was dirty and needed to be vacuumed. So nothing was clean in this place. The location could probably bring back the Black Plague. DO NOT stay in this place unless you enjoy filth and don't mind contracting some disease.

  • My mum and I stayed at Brooke's studio for five nights in May. The location was perfect for us, as we didn't hire a car and used public transport or walked mostly.
Closest metro station was at the Walk of Fame about 20 minutes walk from the flat and from there it was just one stop to Universal Studios and a direct line to Downtown/Union Station. Just around the corner from the flat were bus lines to Santa Monica/Venice/Beverly Hills and Downtown.
Brooke was responsive, very sympathetic and easy to communicate with, although we did not meet her in person as she was working out of town. The arrival and departure was smooth.
I appreciated that there was a hairdryer, fast wifi and cooling after sun lotion (that little detail saved my life as I got a bit sunburned surfing in Santa Monica, thx Brooke!) provided in the studio.
To be honest, there were only two things that did not work quite well.
First was that we needed to store our luggage for the last day after check out as our flight home was after 9pm and we wanted to do more sightseeing. We made this clear while booking the studio and it was no problem with Brooke, she also made a back up plan to store the luggage with her neighbor in case she had other guests on that day. Unfortunately, all plans failed as the neighbor was out of town too and we ended up spending our last day at the airport. Well, bad luck I guess.
The second thing was, my mum being pretty strict on cleanliness. The studio was advertised to be completely dust free and in fact it really wasn't dust free. Some of the stains in the flat were said to be part of the vintage pattern of the studio, but there were definitely some in the bathroom that were just new and could have been cleaned before our arrival. Not enough time for thorough cleaning maybe. For me it was not such an issue as we used the flat only to sleep over and I've seen much worse, but my mum was pretty disappointed about it as the studio did not convey her idea of dust free aka super clean and she demanded I put her comment in here.
Overall, I would recommend the studio to anyone who does not want to rent a car and wants to spend just a few days out sightseeing LA as it is a good starting point to all the main attractions.

  • Excellent location between central LA and Santa Monica; near a lot of great bars & restaurants. Convenient street parking and a roomy old-school adobe style apartment with well-equipped kitchen. Bed is very comfortable but on the soft side if that's a concern for back issues. Wifi was reliable and arrival/departure was a breeze.
