Spacious, airy upstairs bedroom overlooking the rice fields of Penestanan. En Suite bathroom where even the shower has a view of the palm trees. Your own private balcony off the bedroom.
Early morning sunrise over Mt Agung ......Year round breezes.
Penestanan is set up on a ridge 20 minutes walk from the bustle of Ubud township and has long been known as the artists village. The main road to Ubud is 300 metres away, via a pathway and steps - 20 minutes walk to Ubud or 4 minutes in a taxi from the bottom of the steps.
We are on a quiet walking path surrounded by ricefields and local and expat community life.. Nearby is an organic cafe, local warungs (casual eateries), western restaurants, art galleries, a yoga studio and local supermarket.
It is a SAFE area for women travelling alone.
If you are a person travelling alone, let me know and I will arrange a special rate. I know what its like to pay for double accommodation when there's only one of you
The house itself is set in a lush private tropical garden with a pool and large outdoor living space.
Guest accommodation is a large upstairs bedroom with a 4 poster queen size bed with mosquito net and an ensuite bathroom where even the shower overlooks the palm trees. There are tea/coffee making facilities in the room and drinking water is complimentary.
Your room opens onto a large private balcony with table and chairs and a daybed for you to laze away the hours, meditate or catch up on your emails.
I live downstairs with my two Bali cats , one sociable and responsive to visitors and one timid and hardly seen when other people are here.
Airport pickup and drop off can be arranged and I have contacts with massage and beauty therapists and a renowned Balinese healer/shaman and can help you arrange shopping or sightseeing with my local drivers.
This is an idyllic corner of paradise for serious rest and relaxation and a wonderful base to explore the island.
I had a wonderful stay at Ruth's cute bungalow. Her friendly, helpful personaltiy and local knowledge was invaluable and added greatly to the quality of my stay. The area is very beautiful and is close to cafe's, the supermarket, small spa's and is a nice easy walk into Ubud. My favourite things to do at Ruth's place was to lay on the day bed and watch the squirrels jumping from tree to tree and cooling off in the lovely tropical pool. Having breakfast made for me each morning was a real treat. Thank you Ruth
I stayed with Ruth for one week, and could not have asked for a better place to stay. Ruth's home is located in a beautiful quiet pocket, surrounded by nature, and in walking distance to some great restaurants, a yoga studio, and massage therapists. The room is beautifully decorated, and Ruth cooks the most wonderful breakfasts, which can be enjoyed whilst taking in the view from the balcony. Ruth is a lovely host, who is warm, considerate, and very helpful with any queries. I really enjoyed getting to know Ruth whilst staying with her. Ruth makes you feel extremely welcome and relaxed in her home!! Her driver Nick is also wonderfully helpful, and between the two of them you will feel well looked after and informed. I would not hesitate in recommending Ruth's home as a destination to stay whilst in Bali.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Ruth's. It really is above the trees - which means you have glorious views, a constant breeze coming in, and the sense of being in a tropical forest cocoon. Just lovely!
I really liked the bedroom which had wood floors and lots of nice wood and rattan furnishings and pretty throws and rugs everywhere. It all felt really light and airy and was a great place to sleep with a cross breeze and all those chirping animals in the rice fields around.
Ruth herself is a truly lovely person. I went out for dinner with her one evening and she is marvellous company and so thoughtful. Breakfasts brought up to the balcony are delicious too! Banana pancakes and fresh fruit and coffee.
If you want to be away from traffic noise but a few minutes walk from great cafes (try the Elephant and Warung Alami) and yoga places - you can't do better than Ruth's.
Ruth's house above the palm trees is a perfect place to stay when visiting Ubud.
The location is great to explore Ubud, the artist village and the nearby Richfields and other nature. The room is nicely decorated and has a very nice and comfy bed. Don't go here if you are afraid of any animal sounds because you will fall asleep (email hidden)ly animal concert. We loved it! The views from the veranda are amazing as well is the veranda itselfruth will provide you with plenty of nice places which are all located within walking distance.
Ruth herself is an amazingly helpful and sweet host and prepares delicious breakfast. After three weeks of traveling in Indonesia this place is a top three!
I really enjoyed my time at Ruth`s place, she is a warmhearted lovely host, sharing her local knowledge and valuable (email hidden)e room is spacious, light and airy and being on the first floor gives you a view of the surrounding area, especially from the daybed on the lovely terrace! Her place in tranquil Penestanan is ideally situated among rice fields and private houses, with various good local and organic cafes, a yoga studio and a supermarket nearby and not too far from busy Ubud (20 min walk). A very nice and authentic place to stay - highly recommended!
Ideally situated high on a plateau among private homes and rice fields, Above the Palm Trees is far from the madding crowds of Ubud (but not too far too walk or $5 in a taxi) in Penestanan, a really laid back village with an excellent selection of great cafes. A couple of these are just minutes away, as is a yoga studio with daily classes. The way to Ruth's place is via a paved winding path that even motorbikes can't access, so no traffic noise at night. Instead you hear the sounds of birds and frogs and insects. The accommodation is very pleasant and clean and spacious, and you can be quite independent or enjoy a chat with Ruth who will happily share her local knowledge. A very nice place to stay, an authentic non-tourist Bali experience.
Ruth is really a very kind lady who make you feel at ease staying with her. She shared her experiences and good recommendations on the eateries around her place.
Her no-frills room is clean and airy, so you do not have to worry sleeping without air-con. We had mountain view while having breakfast served on the balcony and a beautiful sunset view while bathing in the attached shower in evening. At times, we had the accompaniment of her lovely cats on the balcony.
Her place is located near Jl. Campuhan near Intuitive Flow Yoga Center (not Jl. Raya as shown in Airbnb map). Like many places in Ubud, a torchlight or hand-phone light was necessary to help us walk back at night. The cafes within walking distance serve good, healthy and value-for money food. Love natural soap-bars? You can get them very cheaply at the Bintang supermarket near her place too instead of more expensive ones in Ubud.
Will certainly recommend to people who want to have closer experience of Bali.
I had a lovely stay at "Above the Palmtrees". Ruth is a lovely host and the room is nice, the balcony has a beautiful view and the bathroom was spotless.
I can really recommend to stay there and discover Ubud from that beautiful area, where you are so close on one hand to everything, a short walk and you are on the main road, but tucked away from busy Ubud, no traffic noises to disturb your stay.
I had a wonderful experience in Bali thanks to my accommodations at Above The Palm Trees!
It is a wonderful place to stay...very comfortable and beautiful !
I will recommend this great stay to anyone who wants a great experience of Bali.
My host at this home was fabulous! Ruth was very helpful, had great recommendations to improve my stay and was very willing to find answers to my many questions. This host increased my ability to be at ease in a new environment and allowed me to have a very memorable time in this lovely setting.
I will be looking forward to my next visit !
