If you're a food-lover, this is the perfect area for you. It houses both the cheap eats and the only 2 star Michelin restaurant in Norway, Maaemo. We'll be more than happy to give you our insights!
For instant booking we have a minimum stay of 2 nights and a 3 days notice. However, if you need only 1 night or if you're in a hurry to book, just ask and we can probably work it out!
Our apartment is a two-bedroom on 1st floor in a small apartment building. The building is a typical Oslo-building from the 1890's. The listing is for 1 private room with double bed. Occasionally we also list the whole apartment
Guests have access to bathroom (shower, washer, heated floor), fully equipped kitchen (dishwasher, juicer, coffee grinder, freezer, microwave and more), living room and balcony. Including wifi, towels, bedsheets, hair dryer, umbrella, travel adapter, picnic equipment, If you'd like to go camping in the nearby forest, you can borrow camping equipment (sleeping bags, back packs, tent etc) and we'll be happy to point you to great spots.
Interaction with Guests
We, Anne and Eirik, live here, so bathroom/kitchen/livingroom/balcony is shared. We also have 2 cats, Habitus and Trøffel!
The building is located in a rather quiet street very close to the city centre. We are in walking distance to most attractions including the Opera and the Edvard Munch museum and a lot of bars and restaurants. Several grocery stores and cheap veggie-shops. Lots of green spaces nearby, including Oslo botanical garden. Why not go for a picnic?
Easy walking distance to city centre, subway, several bus and tram routes. 30 min walk to the island ferries. The nearest subway is 4 mins away. You won't really need it for exploring the city center, but it gives you an easy access to Oslo's surrounding forests. After 7 mins from our place the subway goes above ground and in 30 mins it will take you up 469 meters above sea level and into the forest.
Other Things to Note
We provide basic breakfast (cereals, milk, jam, coffee, tea).
We love our flat and our cats, so please be nice to them. Smoking only on the balcony. This is a rather quiet building, so no parties or additional guests.
We decided spontaniously to stay in Oslo for a sightseeing day. Anne and her houseband hosted us for this night and we really enjoyed it at their place. The appartment is located close to everything and the hosts were very helpfull and nice. They also have two beautiful and playfull cats which made our stay even better.
We were in transit through Oslo and needed accomodation for 1 night only. The room was perfect for our needs and both Anne en Eirik very friendly in welcoming us. They had thought of each little detail. The location is very close to both the city center , public transport (metro) and the Botanical Garden with the Munch museum.
Anne Laura and her husband were gracious and generous hosts. We had a lovely time staying with them and would highly recommend them to any other travelers. Takk.
We were just passing through Oslo for a night. We had a very comfortable night’s sleep in Anne Laura’s home. They had thought of every detail – you could even listen to Swan Lake whilst brushing your teeth (there was a CD player in the bathroom).
Our passage was very smooth: Laura agreed to meet us at the station and provided lots of useful local information. Stay just to admire Anne Laura’s impressive collection of shoes. It’s a shame we couldn’t stay longer.
Perfect accommodations. Even better than the photos show. Our hosts had everything ready for us to have another fabulous stay. Thank you again for your great hospitality! We really had a nice time and you will see us on a future visit.
Awesome experience! Anne and Erik met us at the train station which was wonderful. They helped us get acquainted with transportation options around Oslo, various restaurants, markets and cultural sights. Their apartment was perfect. It's in a great location and it's very clean. Looked just like the photos show. Good Internet service which was nice. Their cats are adorable and do not shed so we enjoyed playing with them. We look forward to future visits at this gem of a stay. Don't hesitate, just book it! I know you will enjoy time spent here to be as memorable as we did. Thank you!
I'm a cultural anthropologist, I work in humanitarian aid, and I love cats, perfume, ballet and traveling. I'm also quite passionate about food. Luckily I married another cultural anthropologist, Eirik, who works magic in the kitchen.
Even though I love traveling, Oslo is still one of my favourite places to be. It's small enough for most things to be in walking distance, the cultural scene is extensive and the many, many restaurants offer a variety of kitchens from all over the world.
I mostly work nights, so I'm usually quite flexible during daytime. Unless I'm at work I'll be happy to meet you at the central bus/train station.
