About this listing
If you're a food-lover, this is the perfect area for you. It houses both the cheap eats and the only 2 star Michelin restaurant in Norway, Maaemo. We'll be more than happy to give you our insights!
For instant booking we have a minimum stay of 2 nights and a 3 days notice. However, if you need only 1 night or if you're in a hurry to book, just ask and we can probably work it out!
Our apartment is a two-bedroom on 1st floor in a small apartment building. The building is a typical Oslo-building from the 1890's. The listing is for 1 private room with double bed. Occasionally we also list the whole apartment
Guests have access to bathroom (shower, washer, heated floor), fully equipped kitchen (dishwasher, juicer, coffee grinder, freezer, microwave and more), living room and balcony. Including wifi, towels, bedsheets, hair dryer, umbrella, travel adapter, picnic equipment, If you'd like to go camping in the nearby forest, you can borrow camping equipment (sleeping bags, back packs, tent etc) and we'll be happy to point you to great spots.
Interaction with Guests
We, Anne and Eirik, live here, so bathroom/kitchen/livingroom/balcony is shared. We also have 2 cats, Habitus and Trøffel!
The building is located in a rather quiet street very close to the city centre. We are in walking distance to most attractions including the Opera and the Edvard Munch museum and a lot of bars and restaurants. Several grocery stores and cheap veggie-shops. Lots of green spaces nearby, including Oslo botanical garden. Why not go for a picnic?
Easy walking distance to city centre, subway, several bus and tram routes. 30 min walk to the island ferries. The nearest subway is 4 mins away. You won't really need it for exploring the city center, but it gives you an easy access to Oslo's surrounding forests. After 7 mins from our place the subway goes above ground and in 30 mins it will take you up 469 meters above sea level and into the forest.
Other Things to Note
We provide basic breakfast (cereals, milk, jam, coffee, tea).
We love our flat and our cats, so please be nice to them. Smoking only on the balcony. This is a rather quiet building, so no parties or additional guests.
Great accommodation, the room was very neat and clean. Anne provided towels, wifi, and maps/pamphlets of things to do in Oslo. Great location as well, easy walk to the train station, restaurants, botanical gardens, etc. Thanks Anne!
Nice and clean room in a charming apartment. The hosts are very kind and walked with us from the train station to the apartment. The apartment is also in walking distance from the city centre.
It can take a while in the evening before it is quiet in the street, but it didn't really bother us much. Also, you should not be afraid from cats jumping on the bed if you leave the door open ;-)
Anne Laura and her husband were very kind to us. They pointed out sightseeing spots on a map, let us do a load of laundry, and allowed us full access to their kitchen. They are ideally located about 10 minutes away from the Central Station. The neighborhood is very diverse and I am not sure I would want to walk alone after dark, but I felt very safe in their apartment. Oh, and if you like cats, you'll love theirs--so friendly!
We had a pleasant 2 night stay with Anne and Erik. They were courteous hosts and well-organised. The flat is well located within walking distance to all the major sights in Oslo.
Hej Erik og Anne.
Vi havde en dejlig overnatning i jeres flotte og smukke hjem. Tak for jeres gode modtagelse og venlighed.
Hilsen Helle og Jan
This was the most wonderful place to stay!! We were greeted at the train station, our room was lovely, they were very very kind and accommodating. I would love to stay here again
About the Host, Anne Laura
I'm a cultural anthropologist, I work in humanitarian aid, and I love cats, perfume, ballet and traveling. I'm also quite passionate about food. Luckily I married another cultural anthropologist, Eirik, who works magic in the kitchen.
Even though I love traveling, Oslo is still one of my favourite places to be. It's small enough for most things to be in walking distance, the cultural scene is extensive and the many, many restaurants offer a variety of kitchens from all over the world.
I mostly work nights, so I'm usually quite flexible during daytime. Unless I'm at work I'll be happy to meet you at the central bus/train station.
