About this listing
In the Byron Bay Hinterland, 25 minutes from Byron Bay, wake up on top of a mountain to the sunrise & the extraordinary views over the valley & the great Pacific Ocean.
Drive up to the top of the mountain for 3.5kms in an all terrain vehicle . . . or walk. For a small fee you may be picked up. *the road up the mountain is rough & a 4 wheel drive & a good driver is necessary to reach the pinnacle*. Remember to bring some good walking shoes, mosquito repellant & a torch. This is wild mountain forest terrain that is surrounded by the inner Pocket Nature Reserve.
Experience a real jungle Safari 1/2 hour from Byron Bay. Wake up to the Golden Sunrise over the vast ocean perched on top of a Mountain, at the end of a valley in a secret giant forest overlooking the majestic Pacific; it is called "The Treehouse". The abode of peace & tranquility . . . .
Surrounded by a Rainforest Sanctuary & National Park, you have absolute privacy and one of the most extraordinary locations of the area. This is nature's bliss bomb! If pristine walks into old growth forest & wild beautiful nature or swimming in the waterfalls is your thing . . .this is it.
The Kyoto Hut is *work in progress*, SIMPLE, RUSTIC & BOHEMIAN in character & there is a very basic kitchen & definitely *not five star*. Sleeping situations are a fold out couch, a tiny little loft called 'the nook', or in front of the fire on soft furnishings. You will need your own sheets & you may be sharing this space but usually not. Please check if there is anyone else there. Showers & toilet are now available here. However, as the shower is an outdoor garden type built into a tree trunk, you may have a shower in the privacy of a bathroom at the main house if you are feeling a little shy.
Please note again that this accommodation is RUSTIC, SIMPLE & BOHEMIAN in nature, in a building that is unfinished.
THIS IS NOT 5 STAR accommodation.
It has been quite an achievement to build this over the last 3 years . . now focused on the garden - still plenty to do. Come and plant some herbs if you have a green thumb!
See you at the Treehouse!. An experience you'll never forget!
If wild beautiful walks on the mountain, to the waterfall or through old growth forest is your thing, then this is the place.
You'll have access to the garden shower & toilet In the house as need be.
Please bear in mind that the terrain is wild & this is NOT an urban environment. Walking trails are bush tracks & to all intents & purposes must be considered a 'primitive camp site'. Be prepared as you would as if you are going camping.
This is *basic*, *rustic*, cosy, but comfortable, cheap, boheme accommodation with a very chilled vibe . . . . . remember ladies the toilet & bathroom are in the main house!
If transport is required, a fee of $20 each way is charged to & from the valley below. It is $50 each way if transport is required to or from Byron Bay or airport . . .

Other Things to Note
Please note the facilities are rustic & simple in an unfinished building. Bring your food & comfort requirements, I suggest also an umbrella, a torch, & appropriate walking shoes not to mention some mosquito repellent.
Also be aware this is a Rainforest Jungle home built on top of a mountain in the middle of totally wild nature. You enter this wonderful natural reality AT YOUR OWN RISK. There are not concrete pathways with railings just natural bush tracks. Please be prepared with the appropriate attire, bring a torch, wet weather gear & make sure you are fit enough to negotiate this wild pristine natural environment.
There is free ADSL Wi Fi & no password is required. Please take shoes off inn the home as dust & dirt so we can keep it clean.
We were looking for something romantic and different, with bush and hills, as well as a degree of privacy. Robin gave us an upgrade to the 'Den' which proved to be exactly what we were after. The morning sunrise view is breathtaking, and can be fully appreciated from the bed. Open the large double window and the bush vista comes right into the room. With hills, walking tracks and plenty of bird life each day seemed to pass too quickly. The serenity of this location is difficult to describe, it is so special. A short walk down the track takes you to a beautiful little waterfall and swimming hole. It's place to just stand and soak up the energy of the forest; a place perfect for saying 'I love you' to the special person in your life.
The cooking facilities are rustic, however, they fit so perfectly with the experience, I couldn't imagine it being any other way.
Robin, the host, is a very accommodating and is particularly helpful in making the stay here an enjoyable experience.
A word of caution about the drive in, a 4 wheel drive is absolutely necessary if you want to drive it yourself, but free yourself of that worry (even if you have a 4X4) and have Robin pick you up and ferry you to your mountain hide away.
We absolutely loved it and plan to revisit again in the future. Thank you Robin for a sensational three days. Peter & Claudi
Ahh!! This place was amazing! Exactly what I was looking for. A friend and I stayed in the Den for 3 nights. If only we could have stayed longer. We had an amazing adventure. Robin and James were amazing hosts. We had so much fun. I can't wait to go back again. It was defiantly an unforgettable trip. The waterfall on the property is beautiful. Don't forget to pack hiking boots, gum boots and a torch. There is so much to explore on the property. And it's not too far from byron bay.
Robin was a lovely host who was always available if we needed help with directions etc. The treehouse Provided an absolutely breathtaking viewpoint for the sunrise which was a definite highlight. Him and his son were lovely enough to see us off with some fresh juice before our long drive back to Sydney which we appreciated! Definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for a different type of lodging experience.
My friend Sonia and I stayed at the treehouse for three nights and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. The accomodations were very comfortable and we immediately bonded with the visitors and permanent residents staying in the other houses that form this small, remote village in the woods. We went on hikes, swam in a waterfall, ate great food and had plenty of time to relax and enjoy the breathtaking scenery. I would go back anytime.
Merci!
Thank you for opening your wonderful home to me. The views and surrounding area were wonderful and just what I was looking for. The waterfall was a treat, clear and pure and I was the only person there! Thanks again Robin and peeps.
Thanks for the stay! Such a beautiful place! keep up the good work with all the new renovations
