About this listing
Two separate bedrooms each with double bed, a living room with a sofa bed, kitchen, bathroom. Next to Place Monge known for an excellent outdoor food market, and to rue Mouffetard, one of the first streets in Paris from roman period, the way to Rome.
Elegant apartment in a 1850's building, located on rue Monge, in the 5th. arrondissement, historical center of Paris.
3 min walking from two metro stations: Place Monge and Censier Daubenton. Two blocks away from rue Mouffetard, therefore very practical but far from it's noise.
On the first floor of the building, and not on the ground floor, (no lift, but only 16 steps to climb), it faces a quiet street.
Two separate bedrooms, one with a double bed, the other with a double sofa-bed. For real privacy and confort. Loads of wardrobe space. A window in each bedroom.
The living room has a sofa bed that can sleep another person if needed. The table serves 4/5 people confortably. This red table has a lever that makes it go down to coffe table height and up to dining table height.
The bathroom has a shower with 2 options: a big shower head or a small hand held shower. It also has a window.
The apartment is fully equipped, with microwave oven, vitroceramic cooktop, fridge, a washing/drying machine for your clothes, coffee machine, toaster, hairdryer, ironing stuff etc. High speed internet access is provided for your computers. The apartment is close to many activities by walking:
Place Monge (3 min) where you may enjoy a typical Parisian open air market held three times per week - wednesday, friday and sunday from 7h to 13h.
Jardin des Plantes (7min): The Jardin des Plantes is the main botanical garden in France, founded in 1626, as a medicinal herb garden for king Louis 13th. In 1640 it opened to the public. Great for jogging and taking the kids to see dinosaurs and other real life size pre-historic animals at the Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle.
Jardin du Luxembourg (15 min): a wonderful place, the most appreciated garden by parisians.
Rue Mouffetard (3 min): a charming medieval street , lively and full of restaurants and bars. It is also one of the best streets for buying fish - poissonerie, meat - boucherie, sweets - patisserie, bread - boulangerie, veggies and anything else you can desire in french gastronomy.
The Great Mosque of Paris (7min): a mosque which you can visit. It houses a fantastic Spa (hammam, sauna and massages) and a tea house with the typical thé à la menthe. Beautiful architecture.
You will also find a grocery shop situated just in front the entrance of the building and a bakery at the corner. Several others a block away in roughly any direction.
The neighborhood is lively and young, however, the windows of our apartment face a tiny street and will therefore provide you with all the quiet you may need. The apartment is situated on the first floor without a lift, with only 16 steps to climb.
By the way there are no cleaning fees at all, and no extra charges of any kind.
Minimum stay: 4 days.
The neighborhood is young, well educated, the fifth arrondissement has most of the good universities in Paris, inheritance from the Latin Quarter, when the students spoke Latin.
2 metro stations 1 block away, either Place Monge or Censier Daubenton. Also public buses, and a Auto'Libe for electric car rental right in front of the building.
In general the check-in is at 14h, and the check out at 11am. But if there is no guest the day before or after, we are flexible on the hours of arrival and departure.
You do have to advise me if you want a very late check-in (after 22h) as I live far away, so I have to agree to it before you book.
When you reserve, please communicate your incoming and departure flights so that we meet you at the right time. We check the adp (Aeroports de Paris) site to see if the plane is on time.
We loved the apartment and and the neighbourhood. The description and the pictures are an accurate depiction of what you get. Why stay in a hotel when you can have this! Our two teenage granddaughters loved their own room although they thought the bed less than comfortable. They wanted to bring the comforter home! We exercised our right to the best bed and it was great. The place is very quiet at night which even allowed us to leave the windows open, a real bonus in a big European city. The neighbourhood is just that, a real neighbourhood with great shopping, lots of restaurants and a friendly energy. We walked everywhere. Beatriz left good instructions and helpful books which we appreciated. I'd go back there in a minute!
Beatriz was waiting for us on arrival, she showed us how to use everything in the apartment and helped us get to know the neighborhood. She was available by phone though we did not need help. (Phone for door entry code when you arrive, then pass courtyard and up one flight of stairs, there are no numbers or sign except Beatriz surname.) The apartment was very good for 2 adults and 3 boys aged 13, 11 and 9, The shower was very good, also everything you need in the kitchen, washer/dryer and many tv channels and internet. We were very comfortable. The neighborhood is fantastic. Outside the door there is a taxi rank, bus line and metro stop, at least 2 supermarkets, pharmacy and many nice restaurants and cafes. We stayed 4 nights and toured many of the Paris attractions, coming and going from this apartment is very easy and fun. Thank you Beatriz! so very professional at welcoming visitors, very organized.
Ottimo rapporto qualita' prezzo.
Thanks Beatriz, for the warm welcome to your apartment. We had a great stay here, the location is close to lots of restaurants and the Metro. The amenities are adequate but the sofa bed could do with an upgrade.
Small but nice apartment. We stayed five adults without a problem. Bert small kitchen, which might be a problem if you want to cook your own food. Very nice area and close to Metro.
Compact apartment.with two bedrooms. Was very comfortable for our family of 4. Well located and well equipped . Easy access to many places by walking and metro is really close by. Nice part of town and grocery etc are really close . Our hostess was very nice and accommodating .
