The cottage, though small, was an unbelievably comfortable and in such a beautiful setting! Barb and Dick masterfully provided the exact essentials that were needed for our quick family get away. We enjoyed sitting in the yard, walking to the water and borrowing the kayaks. We saw slugs, butterflies, sand dollars and more in the natural surroundings. We really were able to enjoy the stay with our 2-year old. We loved the experience and hope to come back.

My family and I had a truly wonderful time at Dick and Barbara’s house. It was exactly what you’d want in a little cottage, and exactly what you’d expect! Cute books lining every table, beautiful picture books focused on Washington and the Puget Sound area. Umbrellas in case it rains, and a lot of other little touches better to be saved than spoiled in a review! My ONLY note to make on the review is that you should be in decent physical shape if you want to get to and from the waterfront, it’s a fairly steep climb there and back, and definitely not something you’d want to do once it gets dark, although there are some brilliantly placed flashlights! Sorry, that’s another spoiler! When you do get down to the water, however, who cares about the effort! In the water my daughters found a ton of interesting sea life, including a jellyfish that looked to be an egg. Even in the middle of summer, the berg was relatively quiet and hitting the water around 10/11 in the morning mid week meant we had full purview of the water. My girls were able to kayak around quite a ways with no one else there, and the water is so beautiful. If you go and don’t at least get out once, you’ve missed out on a very fantastic adventure. You can also get down to the water via the state park which is maybe a 5 minute walk away. It’s sill a bit steep to get down to the water on foot, but driving takes just another few minutes, although the Tolmie Parking lot is quite small, and you might not find a spot to park! The kitchenette is small, but fully stocked and capable for small mess. It’s also a strong reminder of how much I miss the speed of gas stoves! The fridge is adequate and the little freezer packs quite a punch, kept my ice cream nice and frozen until I was ready for it. Lastly, don’t be like me and expect to be able to hook anything HDMI in, this is true cabin living, there is a TV and DVD player, but it’s not going to make you want to snuggle up and watch Star Wars, but this place isn’t meant to be that, and never purports to be anything different. So if you want a relaxing few days, you would do well with considering this little slice of peace and quiet that, even being remote, is about 10 minutes from most notable stores, and even a Panera! Thanks Dick and Barb for being such great hosts!

This spot is beyond virtual description. It is a real jewel! The landscaping is pristine. The views are magnificent. The bed is very comfortable. Barbara and Dick are friendly, warm, helpful and very well-organized. And the personal touch of a welcoming breakfast made this a very memorable place fro the 2 of us to stay.

Welcome to Puget View! We live in the log house that shares the property with the cottage and Brittany's Bayside Bungalow, also listed on this site. (We're Brittany's parents :) We love this special, beautiful place and look forward to sharing it with you. We've hosted many wonderful guests over the years, but are new to Airbnb.

Barb's happy when she's expressing her inner artist. Dick, an OSU forester, will help you identify any tree you have a question about. Together, our interests are outdoor-adventure oriented---whether it's bicycling across the country, summiting a NW peak, Kili, or Fuji. Over the last two years we've done a lot of walking/long distance hiking in Great Britain, Europe, Africa, Nepal, Asia. Recuperating now from 250 miles on the Pacific Crest Trail/John Muir Trail in High Sierras---and home to stay. Yay! We look forward to meeting you and providing a beautiful, inspiring place for you to enjoy.
