This two story, two bedroom houseboat couldn't be more fun...watch dock life go by from the cozy breakfast nook, explore the bay from two kayaks that come with the house, hop on the ferry to San Francisco, or drive to the wine country in 30 minutes!
At high tide, enjoy the soft rocking of a boat while having all the amenities of a real home! Spend early morning hours watching dock life come to life with a gorgeous background of Mt. Tam from the cozy breakfast nook. Keep the front and back doors open to let the warm breeze flow through the home. In the evenings, invite friends over for a BBQ on the dock and sit outside at the wood table to be a part of the view!
The houseboat comes with a large tabby cat named Marcus who needs to be fed twice a day and is grateful to have his litter cleaned regularly.
Guests will be able to use two private kayaks to explore the Bay in addition to all the amenities that come with the house: washer/dryer, bathtub/shower, wireless internet, and a large flat screen TV (but bring your computer to hook up because I don't have cable).
Interaction with Guests
I am nearly always available to answer any questions you may have. And if I am not nearby, my mom lives on a houseboat close by. I do like to know that you have arrived safely so please expect me to check in at the beginning.
Truly awesome hikes surround this area...in five minutes you can be at three different trail heads that will take you into the Marin Headlands with views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the entire Bay.
In 30 minutes, you can be in the stunning wine country. I'm happy to recommend some of my favorites!
Walk less than a mile to many fine restaurants featuring the best seafood the area has to offer - Fish, the Seahorse (with live music and salsa dancing), Le Garage - in addition to Thai, Indian and Mexican food.
Mollie Stone's market is a 10 minute walk or 2 minute drive.
Buses into San Francisco are 2 minutes away or in 10 minutes you can be at the Sausalito Ferry into San Francisco. You can bring your bike or rent bikes nearby for amazing rides throughout the North Bay. Rent a car and head into the wine country in under an hour!
Please let me know that you have arrived safely!
Accurate description and delightful retreat. We enjoyed staying on the floating home, used the kayaks daily (be aware access to kayaks requires some degree of agility!) , walking to restaurants and a slightly longer stroll into town.
We appreciated that Nicole provided all essentials (especially with our late arrival - nice not to have to run out for milk and tea!)
Nicole's houseboat was a wonderful experience! My mum, sisters, and I spent the long Christmas weekend on the boat, and we all loved it. Marcus that cat was a delight, and we loved just hanging out experiencing being on the water for a few days. A great mini-break location!
Our stay at the 2 BR houseboat in Sausalito was just perfect. It was clean and comfortable, and Nicole went out of her way to leave us with essentials in the fridg and bathroom. We loved looking at her artwork and books, and while the weather was chilly, there were heaters in both bedrooms and in the living room. It's a lovely and interesting place to walk around, close to San Francisco by car or by ferry, and a great launching place for trips up to Napa and further north. Marcus the enormous orange cat was a great addition. Definitely lord of the mansion, very friendly and funny. Would recommend this for anyone visiting the Bay Area.
I am local and booked this for friends staying over Thanksgiving.
They LOVED it. Thanks Nicole for making this magical little haven available to some of my favorite people in the world--it was truly perfect.
Nicole's houseboat was wonderful! Just as described and a great, memorable location for a break. It's an easy base for trips into San Francisco, Sausalito, Marin and more while providing a peaceful backwater vibe that makes it very relaxing.
Nicole was also able to get the property ready for us to stay on very short notice, and although she was traveling, she made sure to check in with us when we arrived and throughout our stay.
The instructions for the houseboat were much appreciated - everything was very straightforward (I do wish we had read and remembered the notes about the location of the spare key - but that was our fault not Nicole's)!
The neighbors were nice and Marcus, the cat, was an added bonus - he's very friendly and easy to look after.
Nicole's houseboat was really delightful. It's set in a very peaceful place, so it's great to come back to after a busy day of seeing the sights. Our son and his friend kayaked every day and loved it.
Nicole left food in the fridge and a generous note for us to help ourselves. It had that my home is your home feel. Also my cat is your cat! Temporarily. Marcus was a great bonus for us.
I'd highly recommend this host, although we never met Nicole,as she was away, she responded promptly to all our questions and was very helpful.
Staying in Nicole's houseboat was a unique experience, and we would have liked to stay longer. A quiet place for us to start our trip around California and to get some good nights' sleep when getting used to the time difference from Europe. The houseboat had good space for our family and it was nice to sit on the front and back patios with view of the life on the dock. Neighbors on the dock were friendly and open for a chat, kids were playing on the dock Sunday afternoon, all very idyllic. Communication with Nicole was easy and she replied quickly both before and during our stay. Location was perfect with local restaurants within walking distance and short drives to various attractions. The place was perfectly cleaned, but guests should be aware that a cat also lives there (this is already shown in the photos, but the cat jumping on the tables and on our stuff is the only reason not to give five stars for cleanliness :-)). Marcus the cat was nice and friendly and a part of our good experience here. All in all we can highly recommend Nicole's houseboat.
Bay Area girl who loves where she lives! I take full advantage of the mountain bike trails a few minutes from my house, the kayaks on my back dock and the quick trip into SF for all the hole-in-the-wall restaurants, dance and music I need!
