The moment you step in the house you will feel at home. Although it is in the heart of the City, you will sense the quietness and city life at the same time. To live here is a joy; an open kitchen, terrace, huge living room and great bedrooms.
The uniqueness of the house is the hight of the ceilings. In the summer you can enjoy the terrace outside with a lot of sunshine. In the wintertime there is a nice stove and of course there is central heating. The house has all the comfort for a short or longer visit. The most modern and fast high speed internet wifi and a connection to watch all TV channels on your laptop is available.
For cooking all facilities are there. It is an open kitchen so while you are cooking you can enjoy your company that sits at the big table. Within five minutes walking from the house there is a supermarket where you can buy anything to cook your meal!
The bedrooms downstairs are stylish. They all have a wooden 'parket' floor. The master bedroom (at the backside of the house) has a new king size two by two meters bed that sleeps wonder full. There is an empty closet available for all the clothes you bring. The second bedroom is at the front side of the house. It has a comfortable 'twijfelaar' bed that would also fit two persons to sleep in. The third bedroom is at the backside of the house and has a comfortable single bed. The bathroom is renovated with a high pressure shower and a very nice bath. There are two toilets in the house; upstairs and downstairs. Laundry and dry cleaning is available downstairs.
On request there are two bikes available to drive around in the city. There are plenty of restaurants and art shops on walking distance. Fitness is 5 minutes walking, Bikram Yoga 10 minutes walking. Bootcamp and running is possible in the beautiful Sonsbeek Park, 15 minutes walking from the house.
With a direct train (every half hour) you are in 60 minutes from the central station Arnhem in downtown Amsterdam. There is also a direct train that takes you in 70 minutes to Schiphol Airport.
Is a great house in a very quiet / quaint neighborhood in Arnhem. Pretty easy from the station (10 min walk), downtown, and pretty much anything in town. Would recommend it highly
Jan made us feel really welcome and we found the flat to be very comfortable and attractive. We especially enjoyed eating meals together around the large dining table and sitting on the balcony enjoying a drink in the evening. The area itself is really lovely. It's within walking distance of the centre of Arnhem but also has a great vibe in it's own right. There are a couple of good restaurants nearby (Look and the Blue Corner) and it was exactly what we needed in terms of comfort and practicality.
Jan is a host that I would recommend. He answered quickly and precisely all our questions and really made his best to address all our concerns. The house was exactly as described, full of charm, well situated, well-equiped, and in a perfect state. Arnheim is quite a very interesting city, quite different from the others we already visited in Holland. The streets and houses of the neighborhood have this special, unique atmosphere of the old cities which survived WW2. A really nice experience.
Host made us very welcome He was unable to meet us personally but telephoned before hand to explain everything. The house was very comfortable and perfect for us. The houses was near a park and plenty of bars and restaurants within easy walking distance.
If you're looking for a centrally located house in the city of Arnhem, don't hesitate to rent Jan's place. As an Arnhem native, I can recommend his house amply. Everything is close; the railway station, the city center with beautiful shopping, Sonsbeek park (one of the most beautiful parks in the Netherlands), bars, restaurants and nightlife.
The house is located in the beautifully restored Spijkerkwartier with lots of pre 2nd World War majestic houses. We stayed at Jan's place with our two daughters and had more than enough space for the four of us.
Parking can be a bit problematic but this is inherent to any city center nowadays. Never had to walk further than 2 blocks.
