We would definitely recommend Shelley's apartment, it is in fantastic location near to 2 subway lines for access to Mahattan. The apartment has everything needed to feel at home. Shelley was a lovely host and introduced herself to us in person and gave us a few ideas on local places to eat and things to do, if we were to visit New York again we would definitely look to stop here again.
Shelley's place in Flatbush is so cute! It was very spacious, comfortable, clean, and well-decorated. Shelley was a very kind and accommodating host; she lives in the building so any questions we had were quickly answered. She even shared some baked good with us! We would definitely stay here again on our next trip to Brooklyn.
We had a great time in Shelleys cozy appartement. The flat is so beautiful with nice details and decoration. Shelley is a great host and we felt very welcome all the time.
Manhattan is easy to reach by train.
Thanks a lot, great city, great appartement, Perfect holidays!!!
This was our first experience with Airbnb, and Shelley made it a great one! Cozy is a perfect description for this apartment. There were many little touches that helped us feel welcome right away.
The kitchen was equipped with plenty of supplies, including basic pantry staples and spices. We saved a lot of money by cooking our own meals. And there was a nice variety of teas to sample.
The bathroom was stocked with toiletries and soft towels. The shower was hot and had perfect water pressure.
The bedroom was a super-quiet and comfortable sanctuary. We appreciated that after a day of walking around the busy city.
Best of all was our host, Shelley. She was very friendly and accommodating. When we booked the room, she provided us with a guide to the apartment, as well as her personal recommendations for local food and activities. And she has imbued the apartment with design details that showcase her unique style of both Brooklyn and Caribbean influences.
It's a short walk to the subway and bus lines, and we were able to get all over the city from there. However, there was plenty to do nearby. We spent a couple of days just exploring Brooklyn.
We would definitely recommend staying with Shelley. We hope to visit the city, and Shelley's cozy apartment, again soon!
We really enjoyed our stay at Shelley's garden flat. The bed was comfy, the shower pressure was great and the place was spotless. We arrived late but Shelley had popped the keys in a lockbox and given us the code ahead of our flight, so it was really easy to access.
The apartment is less than a 5-minute walk from Newkirk Av on the 2 and 5 line, or from Cortelyou Road on Q and B. It's then about 15-20 mins to Atlantic Av in Brooklyn or about 45 mins to central Manhattan.
We didn't really get a chance to spend much time in the immediate area as it was our first time in NYC and we spent most of our time in Manhattan. But Shelley has some great knowledge of Brooklyn and is great for helping with recommendations!
Get a taxi from the airport as it takes less than 30 minutes (off peak) and only costs about $8 more than the train, which takes over an hour at best! We didn't follow this advice when we arrived and massively regretted it!

Cool, artsy Caribbean chic with global/European style. I founded a local film and art festival and love my neighborhood, Flatbush/Brooklyn - I was born, raised and now am a property owner here! I love design, food and gardening. Oh! and I'm a media executive that is now doing her own thing which is great. Look forward to meeting you.
