Established by two French expats, both named Pauline, this charming guesthouse is located 8 km from Kathmandu's chaotic city center. The guesthouse is a traditional Nepalese home fashioned from stone. The farm is home to donkeys, ponies and dogs.
There are four rooms in total; three in the main house (two upstairs and one downstairs) and the separate Bungalow. The rooms are cosy and homely furnished with bookshelves, antiques and local crafts.
The Bungalow sits below the main house and offers the most generous accommodation. It’s furnished with a double bed and sunken bathtub and has double doors opening onto a private patio with wonderful views.
Drinking water, mosquito nets and anti-mosquito plugs for summer are provided as well as hot water bottles during winter in addition to the wood burning stove. .
Meals can be enjoyed both outdoors and indoors. They are prepared using fresh local produce, much of which has been grown and harvested in Paulines Guesthouse's vegetable garden and the neighboring fields.
Rates include both room and diner + breakfast for 2.
Go for walks in the surrounding countryside and stop by the neighboring villages along the way.
There are a handful of colorful temples nearby, bring your binoculars and look at the birdlife at the same time.
