Great location
92% of recent guests gave the location a 5-star rating.
Restored farm house with fabulous views, comfortable spaces, wood and carpeted floors, front (sunset) and back(sunrise-coffee) porches, swing and benches outside with firepit. Just added solar and EV electric vehicle charging station. On a dead-end street, perfect for long walks. 40 minutes from Lexington or Flemingsburg Covered Bridge Tours, Cynthiana Walking Dead tours, Paris micro distillery and great restaurants, or Maysville on the Ohio River. Plenty of family friendly attractions nearby.

The space
Great space to unplug. Excellent for family reunions, weddings, or for getting away with friends. No streetlights out here, so the stars are bright, even with a bonfire going. Watch hummingbirds while sitting on the porch, cows behind the fence during the day, or fireflies at night. The crickets and three frogs get so loud it can almost drown out the conversation. You can sit on the porch and watch a storm come in or the lightning bugs at night. The sunset is different every night.

Where you’ll be

Carlisle, Kentucky, United States

The house is located on a winding dead-end country road with just (6) houses on it. You have my 1.1 acre lot and the asphalt public road to explore. Please don’t wander/explore beyond that. Its all private property. Great hiking at nearby Blue Licks Battlefield Resort State Park. Carlisle (the little town with a big heart) is just 15 minutes away with a grocery store, 2 drug stores, 2 liquor stores and 6 family owned restaurants or, take the short drive to Paris, Cynthiana, Flemingsburg, Mt Sterling or Maysville for exploring shops, galleries, bars (including a Bourbon bar) and restaurants. Lexington 45 minutes - an hour. Cincinnati and hour 30 minutes away.

I enjoy my adopted community of Carlisle (moved from Detroit, MI in 2013), worked 3 years as Economic Development Director to help this county of 7K revitalize it's quaint picturesque downtown/courthouse square. I love the old farm house I am restoring, and the peace and quiet of the 1.1 acres I own overlooking the rolling farm hills and trees. I travel to Cincinnati often for my "city" fix to visit my kids, grand babies and friends. Sometimes I’ll stay in my she shed/tiny house and teardrop RV when hosting. I love golf, travel, cooking, reading, flying, all kinds of music and spending time with friends. Mine has always been the "hang out" house where all are welcome and differences celebrated. Friends and family love visiting the farm and leave saying they've never slept better or been more relaxed. So much to do nearby but nothing better than sitting around the fire pit making some-mores at night or star gazing (no street lights!) Every day I walk down the dead end street, I see/discover something new.

During your stay

I work 3 days a week (Tuesday - Thursday/sometimes out of town) and visit my grand baby most weekends. I have an RV and "She Shed" on the property that I will sometimes be staying in when visitors are here. I will always be available via phone for help/suggestions. And, I have local contacts who are available for cleaning, assistance, or fix up help. All are listed on my welcome sign.
