Lovely house on the waterfront with great views and very comfortable accommodation.
We stayed at Raechels home for 3 nights and really enjoyed our stay. The house was exactly as described in a lovely quiet area with direct access to the water and views from the upper deck to Mt Maunganui.
Raechel and her husband are currently not living at the house so we had access to all rooms which made it very much seem like home.
On our final night Raechels mum & dad were staying and were very helpful in giving us some ideas on where to go on our travels.
My husband and I overall really enjoyed our stay at the waterfront at Matua. It was indeed very stunning, we were however disappointed at first when we arrived to find out that the bathroom to the bedroom we were supposed to stay in was having construction/remodeling and would continue to have workers in and out between 7am-5pm every day. Rachael explained the unfortunate circumstances of the delayed completion but said the work would be continuing. We felt uncomfortable having to leave the bedroom door open so workers can go in and out throughout day , especially while we were on vacation and would be awoken so early. Rachael and her husband did offer us another room after we expressed concerns. We really wouldn't have minded if we had been told prior to showing up, but we had no notice or updates that the room we were booked for would have a bathroom inside the room that would have workers trafficking through. We did end up getting up another separate room that was comfortable, and overall the hosts did what they could to make us feel better after. I do feel they overbooked for their current situation seeing as how they had 5 people, we were told when we showed up there would be 6 people altogether (3 couples) that all shared 1 shower bathroom, 1 other couple did mention they were using the laundry room sink to brush their teeth etc since the bathroom downstairs was having work done too. Just seemed a bit hectic due to all construction and for that many guests. Once again, a notification prior to showing up would have really been helpful, we felt very surprised to find all this out when showing up. Overall, we got to experience the beautiful beach scenery, make new friends, and really enjoy the company of everyone else that was staying there. My husband and I are very easy going and flexible people, we did enjoy the beautiful stay but were bummed at first with situation. It did however get better as our vacation continued, New Zealand is just beautiful and I am sure once the work is done at the waterfront stay that guests will be very pleased with the new additions and friendly hosts. Hosts were very friendly and kind, Rachael's husband was very knowledgable and funny!! We appreciated our time there once we got passed the chaos and bumps.
Raechel was welcoming and was happy to show us around the home. Prior to our visit she had given us some information on possible activities that we could do. The home is spacious and very comfortable.
Lovely situated house and accessibility to the water, town and the mount. Friendly hosts. Thank you
We happily stayed at Raechel and Greg’s Tauranga home on the north island in New Zealand March 17 to April 2, 2014. What a find! The pictures on the Airbnb website when we first booked looked good enough but still didn’t do it justice. The writeup is very accurate. Now (April 22, 2014) I see on the website that there are more pictures and these do a better job, especially to feature the sunsets - which we watched every evening from the upper deck. Fun to watch the kite-surfers from the breakfast table too! Inside was very clean and well equipped. We managed to get in a dinner visit with Raechel and Greg in Auckland before we left N.Z. You could not find nicer hosts - salts of the earth!

My husband Greg & I are from Auckland, NZ. We love all outdoor activities. We're close to the beach so love the short walk down to the beach for a swim or a walk along the coastline to the local shops, cafes and restaurants.
