Come stay in a secluded, custom-built, luxury log cabin nestled in the woods. Situated on five acres of private forested land in the heart of California’s historical Gold Country, Gold Creek Cabin is only a 2-hour drive from the San Francisco Bay Area and just over an hour from Sacramento. You’ll avoid the Tahoe commute traffic and feel so far away from it all. Gold Creek Cabin (3,500 foot elevation) is 38 miles (61 km.) downhill from Kirkwood Mountain Resort and just 16 miles (26 km.) uphill from Sutter Creek, one of the most popular and well-preserved Gold Rush towns, offering a variety of nice restaurants, antique stores, and unique shops.

Interaction with Guests
Guests will enjoy complete privacy during their stay. Situated on a forested five-acre site, you can't even see the homes of neighbors on the road.
Gold Creek Cabin is located in a subdivision of five-acre lots so the houses are very far apart and not usually visible due to the trees in the Sierra foothills. Volcano, with a population of only about 100 residents, is a small Gold Rush town with a lot of history.

What a beautiful cabin! It was the perfect setting for our multi-generational family reunion. The kids loved the pool table and board games, while the adults enjoyed the open floor plan and comfortable bedrooms. We had a slight problem with the water, but Doug was very prompt with his replies throughout the entire weekend. The detailed guidebook and driving directions also helped us to start off the vacation with a fun and eventful drive!
We had a wonderful time at Gold creek cabin. Doug was a great host - very prompt at answering questions, gave us great tips on what to do around and accomodative with our requests. The cabin was spacious, well maintained and equipped and nestled in a beautiful place. We had a great vacation.
The place is even better than it looks in the photos. It truly is luxury in the woods. The decor is beautiful, the amenities were awesome (especially the outdoor grill and fire pit..amazing!), and the surrounding area was beautiful. We spent the weekend with friends for my husband's birthday and we went wine tasting, caving, and explored the cute town of Sutter Creek. Dough was a wonderful host. He was always available and responded to questions ASAP. He supplied us with ample information about the surrounding area and made the trip really easy. I am a 100% satisfied customer.
Perfectly maintained spacious cabin. Super cozy. Doug left us a bottle of wine, which was a nice touch. Everything was very easy and well handled with Doug. Highly recommend.
Doug was an exceptional host. He went above and beyond, providing everything I needed to know about the cabin, the neighborhood and surrounding areas. The cabin is a little secluded but that's what I loved about it - such a beautiful drive to get there. Only about 20-30 minute drive to various wineries. Cabin was AMAZING - the photos don't even do it justice. Clean, everything provided, great appliances, comfortable - perfect for a family or group of friends looking to get away. Highly recommended!!!
Our stay in Volcano was great. The house is perfect for a larger group looking to get away and have complete privacy. Doug is a great host.
This place was so well-appointed. The Gribbel family has obviously gone out of their way to make this an extremely inviting and comfortable space. Their attention to detail was truly appreciated. It's really a lovely cabin with comfy space for 3-4 couples and a bunk space for singles or kids. We loved sitting on the deck on their Adirondack chairs, playing games around the coffee table and gazing at the stars at night. We had a lovely summer experience and now want to check it out in the winter!
We lived in the San Francisco Bay Area and love to spend quality time together as a family. Our favorite family trip was to a dude ranch in Montana where we stayed in an authentic log cabin. We truly felt like we were on vacation, escaping the stress of modern day life, and had much more fun than if we were staying in a hotel. With Gold Creek Cabin, we sought to recreate that atmosphere and provide a place where families (including dogs) could meet, relax, and enjoy all the wonderful things to do in the Gold Country. Doug has been a real estate consultant, providing insight to developers about resort properties. Kelli was an art major and is the truly creative one in the family. Together, we designed, built, furnished, and now manage Gold Creek Cabin. We love spending time with Lily and Hayden (our children), Harley (our black lab), and any friends who join us at the cabin.
