Description

The Space

Give yourself a delightful, refreshing sojourn.

Situated on the banks of the beautiful, peaceful San Francisquito Creek and surrounded by majestic oak trees, Blue Heron Hollow's Guest Room is a nurturing oasis in the midst of Silicon Valley. Charming, quiet and minutes away from Stanford University, Menlo Park and Palo Alto, this spacious, light, high-ceilinged room has a private feel with its own entrance, bathroom, porch, internet access and parking place.

Very close to hiking and biking trails, freeways and train stations, this idyllic spot embodies the best of both country and city living. After enjoying the flight of the great blue heron, who regularly fishes in the creek, you can get to the world renowned Stanford campus, or the Stanford Shopping Center, (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN), Apple, (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN), etc. - not to mention an array of fabulous restaurants - in a less than fifteen minutes. Both the San Francisco and San Jose airports are one half hour by freeway. San Francisco in about a forty five minutes drive.

My intention is to make your stay easy and comfortable. Please don't hesitate to ask for anything you may need, including suggestions for great places to eat and visit while you are in town.

Thanks for considering my lovely home. This place is truly something special. The welcome mat is out, and I am looking forward to meeting you.

Guest Access

Guests will have access to the guest room with bath room, the back porch w/table and chairs, the front yard and the parking place in the driveway.

Interaction with Guests

The guest room is completely autonomous. Guests can come and go as they like. I am usually here and happy to chat, help with directions around town, etc., but provide no kitchen access. Good coffee houses are an easy five minutes away.

The Neighborhood

This is a very safe and friendly neighborhood. There are wonderful walking/running trails near by.

Getting Around

Sadly, there is no convenient public transit. It is best to rent a car. Parking is included and on the property.

I'm an Army brat, so my family moved a lot. By the time I left NYC for California, I was ready to stay put. I've lived here in my sweet, secluded cottage since 1986, and it is heaven! Now that I'm semi retired from a fulfilling career as a dancer, writer, teacher and counselor in private practice, I've turned my office into a lovely guest room.

I'd have to say it feels like the days of yester-year around here. Built long before the computer was imaginable, this shabby chic, circa 1925 cottage still has lots of ground around it - a pond in the back yard with steelhead trout, lots of birds, and all kinds of wild critters. If you didn't know Stanford University was right across the creek, you might think you were in the Santa Cruz mountains. Somehow the hustle and bustle of Silicon Valley hasn't effected us much. We get to be close and yet feel far away from it all. Home is definitely where the heart is, and I look forward to meeting you.
