Cynthia's bed is very
comfortable and the Internet is fast. I appreciated the use of the kitchen. Cynthia is friendly. I recommend a car since there is a long hill up to the house. The bathroom is in the house and the room is in a separate wing with a washer & dryer and sink as part of the room with a coffee maker.
Cynthia was a good host. The unit is in a great neighborhood. No complaints. Just be aware that its a detached unit with the bathroom in the main house.
Thank you so much for your stay, and the lovely review! Come back & visit us next time, Jean-Claude. :) ENGLISH TRANSLATION. Cynthia is a welcoming hostess and her house is very nice . The garden is beautiful with its orange , lemon and avocado her , you must taste the oranges from the garden. The room is a bit spartan but free access to the home and garden and there is always the shadow and sunlight make you feel quickly at home. The area is quite nice and I recommend the American diner "little beast" in Colorado. And thank you to my garden companion Jack helped me to acclimatize .
I really enjoyed my stay in Eagle Rock. Cynthia's spot is in a great/central location and also offers a chance to turn off the world and just read under the shade of the magnificent Avocado tree in the yard. The communications and logistics were accommodating and everything I needed was provided. I believe you too would enjoy a stay, and if you do, partake of the Oranges and Avocados as did I :-) I also enjoyed a walk through the friendly neighborhood and adjacent areas, and really fell in love with Cindy's restaurant just a short walk also. If you want some quite contemplate time to write and think and chill, then I recommend staying at Cynthia's place.
This place has all the essentials: it’s clean and quiet with a reasonably comfortable bed in a nice neighborhood. Although we did not meet her in person, the host communicated well and was easy to deal with. The patio and garden are lovely.
However calling it a guesthouse is a bit of an exaggeration. While the host has clearly tried to make it as comfortable as possible, the space is actually a converted laundry room with a decidedly sloping cement floor. The only bathroom is in the main house (although there is a laundry sink for tooth brushing), and there is no closet. There is a safety issue in that the deadbolt requires a key on both sides, which is a clear fire code violation. In fact the door does not even latch unless the deadbolt is locked. Having paid more than the price of a decent hotel, we were disappointed.
Dear Sharon, I'm so sorry we didn't get a chance to meet! Let me include the private 'positive' message you left for me. "Place was very clean. Patio and garden were lovely." It's interesting that you choose to leave the only positive comment out of your public response. Please see wikipedia's description of what a 'guest house' is below. My dwelling is exactly this! The photos in my ad show a potential guest EXACTLY what to expect. You can clearly see what the deco floor is made of, and the washer & dryer on display. Nothing is hidden from a prospective client. :) For future reference, AirBnB does not disclose exact locations for safety. I'm sure you can understand why. Wishing you safe & happy travels. -Cynthia
A guest house (also guesthouse) is a kind of lodging. In some parts of the world a guest house is similar to a hostel, bed and breakfast, or inn where in other parts of the world (such as for example the Caribbean), guest houses are a type of inexpensive hotel-like lodging. In still others, it is a private home which has been converted for the exclusive use of guestaccommodation. The owner usually lives in an entirely separate area within the property and the guest house may serve as a form of lodging business.
Although Cynthia was travelling and I did not get to meet her, she had some trusty standby greeters who were excellent at making me feel at home. I was a bit under the weather when I arrived and had tea and bedded down for a great night's sleep. I was rested and cozy in this small casita. I enjoyed a burdock oil and cayenne pepper shot with a large chaser of The Loleta (pinneapple, romaine, mint and chard) at Eagle Rock Juice Company, savory Pho at the trendy Lemongrass, Eagle Rock Italian Bakery for fig cookies and biscotti, and Colorado Wine Company for a 5 glass flight for $15. Plus I caught the Music Festival while I was visiting in town. The entire weekend was a joy. Cynthia's place is conveniently located, comfy and affordable. Numero Uno on my list when I travel back down Occidental way.... Jean
What a wonderful, kind lady you are! I'm so happy you had a chance to experience many of the great things Eagle Rock has to offer!! Even the fabulous ER Music festival. I'm very grateful for Joel and Nicole (my house managers), and so pleased you felt at home. Come back and visit us anytime!
Had a great stay here for 3 weeks while working in LA. Room is very well priced and comfortable. I would recommend this place as a home base if you are staying in LA for a while or just passing through. Hosts are nice and respect your privacy.
