Either I or my hostess will be available to assist with your check in/out . I may not be present for the duration your stay, however I am available by phone.
Port Antonio is unspoilt by the large scale tourism that is present in other towns. You will live in a regular neighborhood, and socialize with the locals. Walk to beach, Town and local shops.
There local taxis , buses. Just ask.
Other Things to Note
What you should expect? You should expect to see Jamaican on their way to work and school. Hear an occasional rooster heralding the morning. Life is simple and the people are friendly.
No smoking indoors. No smoking of illegal substances on property. No parties, No pets allowed. Please note there is road work/modification taking place in the town as result water is turned off at least one night weekly to facilitate the repairs. This is temporary and should not pose much of an inconvenience.
We stayed 4 nights in Bev's lovely cottage and really enjoyed it. The cottage itself was perfect, we had everything we needed (well equiped kitchen, washing machine, bathroom with shower, small garden, small terraceto enjoy the friendly neighbourhood, cell phone with local number [prepay] and WiFi).
The first day we arrived, Bev and Valerie welcomed us - they are both very lovely and so charming. They just helped us with everything we wanted to know.
We absolutely recommend to stay there to discover Port Antonio or simply to relax a few days!
My family and I were very satisfied with our stay here. It was right in town close to both grocery shopping and places to eat. This is significant if you're traveling with young children like mine. It also makes a difference when you have someone like Beverly making sure you're comfortable. She was just a phone call away and we thank her for that. Port Antonio and the surrounding areas of Portland are some of the most beautiful parts of the country. There are many things to do and places to see. We hope to be back next year.
Bev made us feel very welcome. She was great with communication, and her assistant Valerie met us when we arrived. The cottage was very clean, and we were pleasantly surprised to find WiFi and cable TV! The location is good in that you can walk to several places. The neighborhood feels a little iffy at first, but the neighbors are all very friendly. We unfortunately found Port Antonio to be a little bit run down, and on several occasions found something that had been mentioned in our guidebook closed, which was unfortunate. We were able to walk to a few places we really enjoyed though: Bikini Beach Bar, The Italian Job, and Anna Banana. We were a short drive away from some nice stuff too (we rented a car): Frenchman's Cove, Woody's, Blue Lagoon, and a GREAT hike through Grande Valley Tours. Thanks to Bev for providing us with such a nice home away from home (we enjoyed making breakfast at home and having pre-dinner happy hour on the front porch!) while we explored in and around Port Antonio!
First of I wanna say I had a warm welcome from miss B and miss Valerie they welcome me like a family I was so comfortable at my stay that i never was in need of anything it was no except action from home but miss Valerie was just 2 house's away if I was ever in need of anything . I was very comfortable with the area and neighbors are very friendly and nice I definitely staying there again...
No ride ? No problem all the main attraction are within 5 min walking distance you can't beat that
Ms B and the housekeeper Valerie were both there to greet me. I felt very welcomed and already part of the neighborhood. Ms B took me to the grocery store and pointed out a few shops and locations of interest along the way.
She even introduced me to the workers in the store as if I were family.
The housekeeper Valerie was there whenever I needed something from day one. She would appear instantly like magic with a smile.
The neighborhood is safe and friendly. I felt very comfortable asking for directions and where to buy things. This is an active neighborhood with children going to school, goats and roosters walking around, and night time dominoes but it was not so much to be of a disturbance to me. I enjoyed watching a real Jamaican community.
The Country Cottage looks exactly like the pictures. It is basically clean with a nice construction design and flowers, banana trees, and greenery in the front and back yard.
It was an enjoyable home away from home.
Thank you Ms B and Varlerie
The best host we met with air bnb. The cottage was clean and cozy, we had everything we need. Good place to eat around, a few minutes walking from the bus station in the center of the town. You can reach a lot of good spots around with taxis or buses. And the neighborhood is very welcoming.
Also Beverlee drove us to Kingston when we left. Thank you again, everything was perfect
Beverlee and Valerie welcomed us and were very friendly and helpful. The cottage is spacious, clean, and offers a great flavor of the local neighborhood. We loved having coffee on the porch and in the garden. It's centrally located so you can drive to all the great nearby beaches and sights. Beverlee cares about the travelers' experience and feedback to improve on things like noise and safety. We would definitely come back and recommend it to friends!
