Josef's B&B is a haven of tranquility in the Irish Countryside. Josef and Helga are delightfully friendly and kind hosts. They have a charming old house that has been renovated with love, and it exudes WELCOME! I had a great stay here and a wonderful tour of the garden not to mention the great breakfast Josef cooked for me. I was made to feel very special. They are a lovely couple and i hope to return one day for an extended stay. Best wishes for the future.
This was home away from home. Josef and Helga are the most considerate and convivial hosts and their house is full of charm, beautiful views over the countryside and lovely quirky details such as a sauna set at the end of the garden. The rooms are spacious and have gorgeous views, I love the wood ceilings and in the hallway, Helga's quilts that make the landing so cheerful. Josef is a fantastic cook and prepares as much as possible with fruit, vegetables from his garden. We joined them for an evening meal, for a tenner each and what a feast we enjoyed - best value in the county! I heartily recommend their BnB and look forward to going back there soon.
Everything was more than perfect! We arrive in the afternoon and we could enjoy the surroundings with them... Good time with them!. The hospitability, the bedrooms, the chats with them, the environment and... absolutely the breakfast!!! What a breakfast!!! Josef´s b&b is quite close to Gort so everything near it is very handy... Cliffs of Moher, Aillwee Cave, The Burren, Galway... The house is peaceful and calm (at night you could hear a needle been droppedand). It´s the perfect place to relax, to enjoy the calm and the house and the surroundings. For us it was great because we had been in big cities before arrived Josef´s b and b. Josef and his wife Helga are the perfect hostess. They will invite you to take some of their organic product of their greenhouse. They have a lovely dog (Toni) which was great with our two kids. It was great to learn about Ireland with them. Josef is very helpful with everything you ask him. They will give you every kind of directions where you want to go.
Even though the best option is to have a car, don´t hesitate to go by bike... Or from Gort there is a good line of buses as well.
The only think that I have to say is thank you.
By the way... ask them about their sauna.
What a gorgeous, friendly, and inspiring couple. Josef (and his wife Helga) and I shared some great conversations along with some of the best and freshest meals I have ever had while traveling. I cannot say enough about the beauty of the natural surroundings and the charm of the house. I recommend talking to them more about some of their amazing work and projects. Staying at the farmhouse was truly a dream, and I wish I could have stayed longer. You really just have to see it for yourself. Their warm hospitality is second to none, and I hope to come back again soon!
Really lovely welcoming from Josef and Margot and Tony the dog! Unfortunately just spent the one night but wish I could have stayed for longer. Perfect place for a peaceful getaway in its tucked away location a few kilometers from Gort town. Colourful and cosy house with thoughtfully cultivated outdoor surroundings. Cows, chickens, kittens, tony and observing a huge variety of plants and vegetables provide the perfect holiday entertainment. A sauna in the landscape has just been completed but I didn't get to use it, no problem with a bit of notice tho. Look forward to returning for a longer stay.
Josef's little organic farm is a great place to spend a night (or two, or three). It's a little off the beaten path (which I consider a good thing) but is an excellent place to launch a trip to The Burren (15 min. drive) or to Galway. Josef greeted me warmly and immediately offered me a much needed coffee, then showed me to a my very comfortable room.
Josef offers you the option of having dinner with him and Helga for a very reasonable price -by all means take him up on it. We had vegetables from his garden and raspberries just picked from the bushes outside the kitchen door. The farm - of which Josef is quite appropriately very proud - is lovely and peaceful. Highly recommended for both comfort and excellence of the whole experience.
It was my first time using airbnb & I was very lucky to have Josef as my first host. He is a pure gentleman. Very thorough (as you'd expect from a Swiss man), kind, genuinely interested and open in his welcome & communication. His farm is situated in a lovely location, in a fabulous house that Josef and his wife renovated. If you are lucky, you may encounter Tony Soprano the dog who is just another reason to love Josef's farm. My only regret is that I didn't stay longer.

About the Host, Josef
25 years ago my wife and myself emigrated from Switzerland to Ireland. At present I'm looking after a small organic farm with 2 suckler cows with calves and some hens and turkeys. We also have an extensive garden with a wide variety of vegetables and fruits.
When our two children decided to leave the nest, we thought we like to share our house with other people who are interested in nature, peace, quietness and really good food. We're always interested to learn to know new people, their thoughts, ideas and dreams.
