Small private furnished room in the heart of the historical Byward Market. Shared bathroom, spacious kitchen, balconies, and living room.
Partially renovated unit on second floor of older building. Feel free to use anything in the kitchen.
Short walk to National Gallery, Parliament Hill, Majors Hill Park, the Rideau Canal and locks. Numerous independent restos and cafes, as well as bars and boutiques. The University of Ottawa is about a 20 minute walk. The American Embassy is a only few blocks away, for those in town for bureaucracy purposes, but there is so much to do and see that it just may help to forget about the stress of deadlines and paperwork :)
Please note: There are cats in the apartment.
The parking situation: on the street 2 hours max Mon-Fri from 7 am to 7 pm (which means just moving it every couple of hours during the day). Unlimited street parking on weekends and holidays. Very reasonably-priced municipal indoor parking lot two blocks from here.
There is a major bus hub, six blocks away, at the Rideau Centre.
Casual and relaxed urban setting, home to plants and animals, books and music.
Internet, bathroom, living room, kitchen, outside deck.
I am happy to help you out before and/ or during your stay regarding advice and directions for local amenities and attractions.
The Lowertown/ Byward Market neighbourhood is one of the older residential areas in Ottawa. You will notice a mix of rented and owned, new homes, old homes, nicer homes and fixer-uppers. The demographic is varied here as well, which I especially appreciate.
Please confirm approximate arrival time with me within 24 hours. Thanks!
I traveled to Ottawa for a festival and it couldn't have been more perfect - location-wise, cost, convenience, friendliness. I was out often but when I was home, Carla was very easy to talk to and get along with. So were her cats even though I haven't spent much time with cats before. Outside of hearing them move about, the neighbourhood was very quiet overall and allowed for a good sleep.
There was a coffee shop just around the corner which was perfect for me to start my day as I headed out to the festival in a hurry each morning. I didn't use the kitchen much as I didn't have time to cook, but Carla was open to let me freely use the kitchen as I needed. I enjoyed my time in Ottawa and my stay here was definitely a part of it.
Ótimo bairro, tranquilo e com excelente comércio e restaurantes. Excelente anfitriã.
Fantastic experience without a hitch and would recommend to anyone. Room was clean, comfy and comfortable. The location is sublime, allowing you access to most of the best parts of Ottawa. Carla was very welcoming and pleasant throughout, even though I came back to the apartment late a couple times!
Carla is very welcoming and accommodating so that your stay is very pleasant. The room is clean and comfortable. The neighborhood is quiet and located a few miniutes walking from downtown Ottawa.
I was looking for a very affordable place to stay (2 nights) close to the Ottawa Congress Centre (55 Colonel By Drive). In booking with Carla, I achieved what I wanted.
Carla is a young, relaxed and kind person but this being said, the place looked scary to me when I first walked up the staircase to her first floor unit...looked like a drug house and the street, although located in downtown Ottawa, was run down.
Her apartment, augmented by the presence of a dog and two cats, did not appear to offer absolute guarantees of cleanness.
But if you are on a budget, who cares...
I had a great stay over at Carla's. She is very nice, friendly and helpful. Plus, it's a very convenient location, right in the market! Thanks Carla!
