Haiku is the neighborhood I grew up in. I love it! It is a small but growing community with still a lot of the old local families I know, and a lot of new neighbors moving in. We have a variety of restaurants from Japanese and Thai to American, Hawaiian,Vegetarian, Mexican, and local. There are 2 grocery stores, a post office, fitness center, massage and spa, hardware store, laundromat, doctor, thrift shop, video store, etc. We are the home of Haleakala Bike Company, where you can ride a bike down from Haleakala Crater back to Haiku. We also have our own zipline right up the road. Haiku is on the tropical side of the island, which means beautiful rainbows, flowers and plants, green grass, fruit trees, and cool tradewinds. It is 5 minutes away from beautiful beaches and surf spots, yet away from the tourist traps on Maui! Don't forget to hang with the 30+ turtles that swim to shore at sunset, 5 min. away! Twin Falls with its beautiful waterfalls and pools is less than 15 min. away, if you like to hike. The famous Jaws where surfers ride 30' waves is just 10 min. away! If you love to shop, Paia & Makawao towns are filled with interesting shops, art galleries, and restaurants, and just minutes away from Haiku. Come stay in Haiku, and be among the locals to experience the real Hawaii!!
There is a local bus transit a few minutes away from our home that will take you to every town on the island. However, we recommend you rent a car to save time, and to get to those places the bus does not go.
If you need anything, please knock on white door, or call our home number, (phone number hidden), anytime of day or night.

For a truly Hawaiian experience we HIGHLY RECOMMEND Bamboo Heaven!
We almost didn't book here because we are not religious people, we respect other peoples beliefs, and don't wish to have religion discussed.......BUT.....From the moment we drove our car under the covered car port we were WARMLY WELCOMED and PAMPERED the whole week!
Beyond our Expectations:
Beautiful, clean room stocked with an overabundance and variety of breakfast items (eggs, sausage, bagels, toast, jam, peanut butter, bagels, cream cheese, cereal, milk, juice, Kona Macadamian nut coffee, hot chocolate, assorted teas, oatmeal, waffles, syrup and fresh fruit daily in the nice kitchenette.
Tucked away in the walk-in closet are beach supplies(chairs, large beach bag, etc), ironing board and iron,a rack for drying clothes and many hangers for hanging up clothes.
In the stylish bathroom we found extra amounts of towels, large bottle of shower gel, shampoo, conditioner (not the cheap stuff) in the walk-in shower, shower cap, and even Pepto Bismal in the medicine cabinet.
Super comfortable Queen-size bed
Our stay was so relaxing that we found it hard to leave every morning to venture out and explore Maui, which from Bamboo Heaven is so easy as it it centrally located!
Every morning we were greeted by Janice and Dan's friendly dog Lani and cat Israel, as we leisurely enjoyed our breakfast on our private Lanai, looking out to the country fields and ocean.
We would like to say "Mahalo" to an always smiling Janice and Dan for the surprise Anniversary Banner, sparkling cider, chocolates, calendar, shell leis, and making us feel like family!
All a guest needs to do is ask and Janice and Dan we bend over backwards to accomodate ....we didn't have a laptop so when it came time to leave Janice let me use her computer and printer to do our flight check-in which we found out at the airport got us into a faster lineup.
P.S. Janice and Dan....I hope your future guests enjoy the boogie board we left as a gift to both of you for your gracious hospitality!
We stayed in the blue room at bamboo heaven bed-and-breakfast and loved it! It was very clean and well stocked with everything we needed for a fun and relaxing vacation, Including lots of good breakfast items to eat.
The hosts, Janice and Dan were very kind and hospitable and willing to help us with whatever we needed.
Iad an absolutely wonderful experience staying at Bambo Heaven! Jan and Dan were great hosts. When I mentioned I wanted to go to Jaws beach they would find out about how the waves were or how the weather might be effecting that adventure. I also mentioned I wanted to watch th sun rise at the volcano they both advised me as to how cold it was......Jan even got out a bag of warm clothes that I could borrow fot the adventure! (when I was up there people are jealous that I had hat gloves and scarf....all of which were provided by Jan!) Jan was very generous, bringing me food and fruit. (Which reminds me most of the fruit was from the garden ....which I thought was very magical!) Overall, they were wonderful hosts, the bed was very comfortable!, and the room was absolutely gorgeous! I couldn't ask for more pleasant place to stay!
Staying at Bamboo was very nice. the place is amazing and Janice did a fantastic job decoring it - it really is a bamboo haeven. Janice provide fruit from her garden and eggs, ..... so we could prepare breakfast and enjoy it on our own lanai. the location of the house is very good, it is only short drive from the airport, has a very good excess to the other part of the island but you can still feel the atmosphere of the rainforest around. if we come back to Maui, we would be very happy to stay here again.
Hi Eva and Martin!
Thank you sooo much for our first review!!! We really appreciate it! It was a joy to meet you and to learn about our different homelands, especially since you are from Slovakia, where our grandmother used to live! I enjoyed hearing your accents, and enjoyed sharing Maui with you! Thank you again for choosing Bamboo Heaven Maui as you "home" away from home!! We hope to meet you again soon in the near future!! Aloha and God bless you!
"Aunty" Janice (in Hawaii, anyone older is aunty or uncle!)
