Interaction with Guests
You will have the house to yourselves but we will be happy to offer any insight or recommendations you would like!
Old Village is one of the most picturesque neighborhood in the south. Beautiful moss draper oaks, flowers everywhere, lovely old homes, views of the Charleston Harbor and the fabulous Pitt Street pedestrian bridge that jets out into the inter coastal waterway. There is a great bike path over to Sullivan's Island Beach and many restaurants and shops near by.
There is public transportation but I would recommend a car or bike to get around.
Other Things to Note
Be sure to stop by the Pitt Street Pharmacy in the heart of Old Village for a step back in time at the soda fountain. My son says the root beer float is the best.
For a quiet or romantic evening with delicious food, we love the Old Post House Restaurant and tavern, a few door down from the Pharmacy on Pitt Street. It is located in a beautiful area for an evening stroll.
Please let us know if you would like other recommendations. We have an endless suppy!!!
This is a family neighborhood. Couples, families and laid back friends preferred. No loud music or wild parties please. We all get along nicely and would like to keep it that way.
Paula did definitely make us feel welcome with touches like the candles being lit when I arrived(she was there, too.) Her listing represented the house very well. It actually was better in person. The location was superb in a quiet neighborhood of Mt. Pleasant close to all shopping. The "Old Village" is a special place to see, too.
I could go on and on about how much we loved staying in Paula's house but what I really want to scream to the world is how gracious kind and sweet Paula was...
I was a little worried about getting all six of my kids settled when we arrived so late at night from Arlington, Virginia so late at night but the Paula's cute little house was a perfect place to land. To be perfectly honest (even though I read the reviews people had left about how awesome Paula's home is} I had very low expectations. I couldn't imagine someone allowing all six of my kids, my mom, my sister and our two dogs a place that was so beautifully furnished and quaint. Everything from the cozy comforters to huge backyard was perfect. We spent two days at the beach (we liked Suliivans Island the best) and two glorious days exploring downtown. We also jogged to Shem's Creek in the early morning and walked the docks at night to watch the sun go down...it was perfect. I will never forget our trip....ESPECIALLY because (by no fault of my own air-head prone self) I didn't realize I got the check out date wrong. We had left the house a little of a mess (teen girl messy) expecting to do a huge clean up job Thursday morning before we left. Having six kids I spend my life decluttering so I try to give myself a tiny bit of a break on vacation. We spent an awesome day walking through the markets and getting lost in beautiful alleys downtown. When we returned home we were shocked to see cars in the driveway. When I walked in Paula told me we were supposed to have checked out that morning at 10 am. The amazing thing was-she was so sweet about it. We packed up the rest of our stuff, got in the car and went on and on about what a wonderful human being Paula was. I'm sorry I didn't write my review right away (we went from South Carolina to Corolla NC to spend the rest of the week with my other sister and her family). Thank you Paula...we will never forget our trip or your kindness.
The host, Paula, was very friendly via text and messaging prior to and during my stay in her home. I do wish she'd let me know there would be someone in the house prior to my arrival; I thought I was in the wrong place at first. Other than that- not too many complaints about the house in general. It is an older home. It is in a location where you can walk to restaurants so that is nice.
Very satisfied with our stay. Paula was great and responded to questions promptly.
Uber is available for anyone concerned about being outside of downtown Charleston.
Very friendly place in Charleston and great location! We enjoyed living there during spring break!
We had a lovely time staying in Paula's home. The piano and the huge yard were a definite plus. Our small dog tagged along for the trip and quickly settled in. Very clean and pet-friendly setup. Paula was great about communicating in advance of and during our stay, and we appreciated staying in a place so close to downtown Charleston and Sullivan's Island. The house has a vintage-y, lived-in, cozy feel, which we were totally comfortable with, but it might not be the aesthetic that suits everyone. Best recommended for families.
We really enjoyed our stay in Paula's home. It was a great quiet place to come back to after a busy day of being a tourist. It was nicely decorated and great for a family adventure. Paula was a pleasure to rent from and we hope we can stay there again in the future.
I am a mom of 4 and grand mum of 3. I grew up in Nova Scotia, Canada and moved to the US to go to college more than a few years ago. I work in the travel industry as a tour coordinator and my absolute favorite thing to do is travel! The company I currently work for offers tours to Italy, Spain and Croatia and I am thrilled to be heading off to the Amalfi Coast this fall. Though I love traveling the world, Charleston is my favorite spot. I love sharing this beautiful town with visitors and will be happy to recommend wonderful activities and restaurants for your stay!
