About This Listing
Close to downtown and transit lines leading to the airport, Univ. Circle, + Ohio City, my house is a convenient place to call home base in Cleveland. It's two blocks from Gordon Square Arts District which contains shops, restaurants, and theaters.
Your room is inviting, with a queen bed, a large window, and a ceiling fan. The living room has two couches and you'll have access to the television which has local tv stations, Hulu +, and Netflix. There is one shared bathroom, as well as a washer and dryer that are available for your use. My sizable front porch is wonderful for enjoying a day or evening relaxing and people watching.
Guests have access to most of the house: the private bedroom, kitchen, living room, dining room, shared bathroom, and front and back porches.
Interaction with Guests
I interact as much or as little as you like.
Check in is set at 6pm, because most likely I will be off work by then and can meet you. Check out is at 2pm. These times aren't set in stone, so if they don't work for you, just let me know. I'm flexible.
I am two blocks from the heart of the Gordon Square Arts District featuring the Capitol Movie Theater and Cleveland Public Theater. This node contains several boutique shops, a wonderful coffee shop (Gypsy Bean), and a great array of restaurants: Frank's Falafel, Happy Dog, Latitude 41, Luxe (great patio!), Rincon Criollo (a delightful Cuban restaurant), Spice, Toast, and XYZ (American fare). Don't forget to get a fountain soda or ice cream from Sweet Moses.
The house is a 10-15 minute walk to Edgewater Park, on Lake Erie, which includes a beach, pier, and a bluff with amazing views of the lake and the city. I am about a 15 minute walk to W. 25th St. in Ohio City, where you'll find Great Lakes Brewery and the West Side Market, among other great Cleveland eateries and shops.
The house is a 10 minute walk from the RTA Rapid Redline Train W. 65th/Lorain Station which connects you to Ohio City, Downtown, University Circle, Lakewood, and Cleveland-Hopkins International Airport. Bus lines 26 and 45 each have stops a few blocks away. I'm a 2 mile walk, bike, or drive to downtown. The Tremont neighborhood is also nearby.
Other Things to Note
Nearby vegetarian friendly restaurants include the Flying Fig, Banana Blossom, Johnny Mangoes, Momocho, Ty Fun Thai Bistro, La Bodega, and Istanbul Grill.
I'm pretty laid back. I ask that you don't let the cat out (he will try!) Though I say "no smoking," that is only inside. There are two covered porches where you can smoke. I also ask that guests aren't loud after 12am, especially during week nights.
Even though we didn't meet Jim during our one night stay at his home, he made sure that we had everything to make us feel at home. The house was in a great neighborhood and very close to all things in the city. Jim is one of the best guides of a city we have met in our travels. His food recommendations were excellent. I would highly recommend you stay with Jim and explore Cleveland based on his recommendations when you visit.
Jim met me with tea/coffee available on arrival, and introduced me to his friendly car Sharman. He explained everything I needed to know about his lovely home and the tree lined neighborhood. It's a charming gentrifying area, close to the lake, and a short drive to downtown Cleveland, with lots of dining and coffee shop options close by. Street parking was easy and safe. Jim is often out, so if you need a quiet place to relax or work Jim's living room or kitchen table makes for the perfect space. definitely would stay here again. Jim is a smart, DTE and friendly guy.
Jim's place was spotless and the room was a great size. It's also quite close to the train and multiple bus lines so getting around was easy. Our schedules didn't align much over the few days but he was always very friendly and welcoming. I felt comfortable right away.
My wife and I only stayed at Jim's place for the night because we were just passing through. Jim has a great place in what seems like a neat area (didn't get the chance to explore, again only there for the night). Jim answers very promptly and is very helpful. Although we didn't get the chance to meet Jim face to face I have no doubt he would be great company. He was a wonderful host even though he wasn't there, that's how good Jim is. We visited the happy dog like a lot of people mentioned. It was my kind of place, very hipster but very neat. Good dogs. My wife fell in love with Jim's cat Sharmen who coincidently is a great host as well. If I'm ever back in Cleveland I would have no problem staying at Jim's again. Thanks Jim
Jim is such a gracious and kind person. For our first visit to Cleveland and not familiar with much of anything, Jim was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable with the area and even dropped my 7 yr old daughter and I off at the Cleveland Aquarium before we went to the ball game.
His home is very welcoming and filled with character, our room was very comfortable and spacious...and Sharmen!! such an amazing, well mannered and very friendly feline..
We had a super-great girls road-trip weekend with fantastic accommodation.
My daughter and I will definitely stay with Jim again!
Thanks again Jim, for an outstanding and memorable weekend!
Although we never met Jim in real life, he was a gracious host with a cozy home. He responded promptly to my inquiry and answered all of our questions about the area. We tried out a nice restaurant and watched the sunset at Lake Erie per his recommendations. The room we stayed in was very neat, similar to the rest of his home, and came fully supplied with towels. Sharmen, the cat, was a delight and very friendly. Overall, a really fantastic experience and I would definitely stay again if I was in the area.
Jim is helpful and welcoming, and his home is beautiful. Thanks, Jim!
