Stay in the cosy R22 - 1 of 3 bedrooms for rent in this comfortable 1920s house. Our street is well kept with historic, vintage houses, but our neighborhood is on the rebound, and still looks rough in some spots. Personally I love it, with its history, people and stories and consider it "the real Detroit" and "ground zero" for Detroit history since the 60s. Great value and location - only 2.5 - 5 miles from Midtown, Wayne State, Henry Ford Hospital... 3 buses walking distance.

This was my second time staying at one of J's properties. My stay was exceptional once again and I will continue to book with her when I make plans in Detroit. The value is outstanding — a very cozy space, affordable price (I just graduated college), plus thoughtful touches like …

The house is very convenient and very well located for me as I was driving. I did not use public transportation so don't know if the location works for that but for driving it was great. Very easy to park, low traffic, easy to get to Downtown and other places. What I liked the m…

I absolutely loved the space and thoroughly enjoyed my stay there but it’s definitely in the hood. J does a wonderful job telling you exactly what to expect. Just Don’t hang out or go outside at night time. Outside of that, it’s perfect for the price. I stayed there for a film fe…

Letia thanks so much for staying with us! Also this nhood has improved a LOT over the past 15 years and even over the past 3 years i have seen a significant improvement. Many locals don't realize how much better it has gotten throughout this time. Since it's so well situated to highways and downtown/midtown, it's attractive to investors looking to scoop up empty houses.

I'll be frank. Decent place. The location is pretty bad. I took about 15 cabs to and fro from the location and all the drivers told me the area was too bad and to take care. Maybe most of the Detroit is like this but the localities warned me of the area. I'd recommend you to stay…

Hi Srujan. Thanks a lot for staying with us. This location is exactly as i warned you it would be in the prebooking messages so nothing should have been a surprise. It also has a far worse reputation than it deserves. It has improved drastically over the past 10-15 years - and even in the past 3 years, i have seen a significant transformation. It has a lot of room for improvement, but as far as Detroit is concerned, if you want a more "normal" experience, as in - comparable to other US cities - then you have to stay downtown, midtown, woodbridge, indian village or one of the suburbs. But people cannot come to Detroit and expect it to be like their hometown when the fact is that there is a 35% poverty rate throughout the entire city and approximately half of the houses and buildings are still empty even with landbank sales and demolitions in full force. I have spent many months staying in the same house you stayed in, walking those blocks and getting to know the neighbors and i can say that if you don't go walking around at night, it's a very pleasant experience overall, a very cheap price and very well located to downtown/midtown and highways.

J is great! She responds quickly and informatively and everything is easy and laid out for you. J’s neighborhood may look rough but it has some true charm and the neighbors were kind and accepting. Detroit is a special place for those that are unafraid to see a darker side of soc…

Thank you Luke! Yup. You got it. Also it's important to remember that what happened in Detroit could happen in many places in the US. And actually on a smaller scale is happening in parts of Flint, Baltimore, Chicago, New Orleans, Gary (Indiana), Jackson (Mississippi), Toledo (Ohio), Montgomery (Alabama, St. Petersburg (Florida), Saginaw (Michigan) - and maybe more. Cheers!
