At a short walk from central park, you will enjoy this finca-style house built in 1974 by an American writer in love with Guatemala.
We kept the house in its original style and furniture.
The part of the building situated by the street is from colonial era, with 80 cm-thick walls.
A first room is fitted with a king size bed (made of two single beds that can be separated if needed).
The second room is twice bigger and equipped with 3 single beds.
These rooms share a bathroom with hot tub and shower.
Another building hosts a laundry with washing machine and dryer, as well as a fridge, and an door leads directly to a large equipped kitchen with modern oven, dishwasher, microwave and all kind of accessories for cooking.
When you go out out the kitchen, you will enjoy the colonial pila (fountain) before arriving in the main two-storey building.
At the first floor, the comedor with view to the pool, then the living room with danish and guatemalan furniture, around a chimney, and in in between, a tropical wood stairs lead to the second floor.
When you are up the stairs, the guest room is on your right, and the master bedroom on your left, while right in front of you is the access to the terrace, with astonishing view to the church, Antigua roofs and volcanoes.
Both of the rooms are made of wood, with large bookcases facing the beds (queen size in the guest room and king size in the master bedroom).
A chimney reflecting in a mirror lets you enjoy the fire from your bed in the master bedroom.
Each room has its own toilets and shower.
When you go down again to the first floor, the door opens on the garden at the back of the house, with a piece of lawn surrounded by tropical lush, and a few acapulco chairs to relax.
On the western side of the main building, the space is filled by a 6.5 by 3.5 meters solar heated pool.
Our neighbours are very kind people, like most people in Antigua, so we ask our guests to behave respectfully with them, as well of course with the people who could have to work in the house, like the gardener or the housekeeper.
Please be careful not to make noise after 10 pm, especially in the pool.
The house should only be used by the people that are renting it, 9 persons allowed maximum, and consequently, parties are not allowed in the house, as well as meetings, excepted if previoulsly agreed with the owners.
Thanks for taking care of this place!
This house was absolutely breathtaking! The whole compound was beautiful, clean, fully stocked, and lush. The neighborhood was a perfect little pocket in the city. Philippe and Suzanne were very accommodating. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be coming back in the future to this very house.
Amazing house. We were in Guatemala for our wedding and we booked this house for some of our closest friends.
The house is beautiful and has nice and modern amenities without losing the old charm of Antigua houses. I personally loved the decoration all over the house. The ping-pong table was also a winner!
The walk from the park is a little long compared to other places in Antigua (around 15-20 min) but is really quiet when you get to the house.
I'd recommend staying in this house if you have a large group. It has everything you need for a long vacation and the kitchen is fully equipped, including dishwasher.
The house was very comfortable and spacious for our group of 7. It is tastefully and beautifully furnished and well maintained. We really enjoyed the pool - especially since we were traveling with a 10 year old. The location worked out very well. We walked into the center several times a day and only took a tuk tuk when we returned from grocery shopping. The church bells did not bother us at all! We found Suzanne helpful, cheerful, and accommodating. Thank you!
Phillppes home was hands down the best Airbnb home I've stayed in. I've traveled over the world in many different airbnbs and as a host myself, I can say that everything was set up perfectly for an enjoyable stay.
We had 9 guests and it was an extremely comfortable fit, the layout is spacious and the common areas were cozy but large enough for all of us to hang out. Fireplaces made a nice touch, as this time of year can get chilly at night. The pool was used once but other than that was still a beautiful touch. The beds are comfortable and the house(s) were spotless. The home literally has all the amenities you would need. As I sit in my home now writing this, I am already missing it- wishing we back there now! Highly recommend. The area is beautiful and convenient.
Although we didn't get a chance to meet Phillipe, we were greeted by his friend, Suzanne. She was extremely nice and very helpful with our drive back to Guatemala City.
Again, highly recommend. It was insanely gorgeous and enjoyable.
beautiful home in a beautiful town! will definitely stay at philippe's house next time I return. thank you so much!
Wonderful place! My friends and I stayed here for 3 nights and wished we would have stayed longer. It was a perfect place to chill out, cook our own food and even entertain. The ping ping table was a plus as well. The courtyard was full of plants and the whole open space reminded me of a villa in Italy. We've found the place to be very clean and bigger than it looked from the pictures.
Our stay at Phillipe's house couldn't have been more PERFECT. We had a group of 9 staying in the house and everyone was comfortable and slept well. The pictures don't do justice to how roomy, impeccable, and gorgeous the house is! You walk into an amazing courtyard with three separate living/ eating quarters. The two bedrooms in the main house (master bedrooms)offer windows in the bathroom that allows you privacy but also views of the scenery while showering - pure luxury!! We ate out plenty but also enjoyed cooking at the house. The kitchen is fully stocked with necessary gadgets, sturdy bags for shopping at the local markets and even offers a dishwasher!! The grounds are kept up by the owners friends and Suzanne even stopped by to make sure we had everything we needed. City center is in walking distance of the house and we all felt safe during our visit. Prior to booking, Phillipe was always patient with me as I gave him at least 3 lists of questions and confirmed that the house had everything we needed prior to our arrival, such as towels for all 9 of us!
If we travel to Guatemala again, we would DEFINITELY book this house again! Amazing villa, in a great location, for a good cost!
