At a short walk from central park, you will enjoy this finca-style house built in 1974 by an American writer in love with Guatemala.
We kept the house in its original style and furniture.
The part of the building situated by the street is from colonial era, with 80 cm-thick walls.
A first room is fitted with a king size bed (made of two single beds that can be separated if needed).
The second room is twice bigger and equipped with 3 single beds.
These rooms share a bathroom with hot tub and shower.
Another building hosts a laundry with washing machine and dryer, as well as a fridge, and an door leads directly to a large equipped kitchen with modern oven, dishwasher, microwave and all kind of accessories for cooking.
When you go out out the kitchen, you will enjoy the colonial pila (fountain) before arriving in the main two-storey building.
At the first floor, the comedor with view to the pool, then the living room with danish and guatemalan furniture, around a chimney, and in in between, a tropical wood stairs lead to the second floor.
When you are up the stairs, the guest room is on your right, and the master bedroom on your left, while right in front of you is the access to the terrace, with astonishing view to the church, Antigua roofs and volcanoes.
Both of the rooms are made of wood, with large bookcases facing the beds (queen size in the guest room and king size in the master bedroom).
A chimney reflecting in a mirror lets you enjoy the fire from your bed in the master bedroom.
Each room has its own toilets and shower.
When you go down again to the first floor, the door opens on the garden at the back of the house, with a piece of lawn surrounded by tropical lush, and a few acapulco chairs to relax.
On the western side of the main building, the space is filled by a 6.5 by 3.5 meters solar heated pool.
Our stay at Phillipe's house couldn't have been more PERFECT. We had a group of 9 staying in the house and everyone was comfortable and slept well. The pictures don't do justice to how roomy, impeccable, and gorgeous the house is! You walk into an amazing courtyard with three separate living/ eating quarters. The two bedrooms in the main house (master bedrooms)offer windows in the bathroom that allows you privacy but also views of the scenery while showering - pure luxury!! We ate out plenty but also enjoyed cooking at the house. The kitchen is fully stocked with necessary gadgets, sturdy bags for shopping at the local markets and even offers a dishwasher!! The grounds are kept up by the owners friends and Suzanne even stopped by to make sure we had everything we needed. City center is in walking distance of the house and we all felt safe during our visit. Prior to booking, Phillipe was always patient with me as I gave him at least 3 lists of questions and confirmed that the house had everything we needed prior to our arrival, such as towels for all 9 of us!
If we travel to Guatemala again, we would DEFINITELY book this house again! Amazing villa, in a great location, for a good cost!
My husband and our friends traveled to Guatemala to celebrate my 30th birthday. We saw pictures and when we arrived at the house, we couldn't believed how amazing is the house! We loved every details of the house. The location and the neighborhood were so perfect! Especially we loved seeing the old church with its unique architect in front of the house. In addition, Suzanne who received us and welcomed us to the house was so friendly, reliable, and such great helper! We will rent this house again when we come back again and hope to meet Philippe too!!
This place has a cool, almost retro vibe. I recommend this place for the young and young at heart. The pool was great. It's on a quiet street, across from a beautiful old church. There are two great little parks within half a block.
Lovely home and beautiful city. I stayed there for 6 days and I would definitely recommend this home to any visitor.
Beautiful home- pics don't do the outdoor space justice! Very seamless stay and accommodations were perfect. Suzanne, the care taker, is a sweetheart and took care of any questions we had. Great location too!! Thanks Philippe!
Beautiful house! We had a great time. I really enjoyed the open space, terrace and gardens. Lots of space, beautiful decoration.
The house feels very big and very comfortable. The location is perfect too because it is not in the middle of the tourist area but just a few blocks away so its easy to go to all the restaurants/cafes but its in a quiet street and plaza.
If i go again to Antigua, I will try to rent the same house. Philippe was great and very easy to work with, as well as Suzanne.
