Other Things to Note
A light breakfast is provided at no extra charge. This includes: fairtrade tea or coffee (espresso and cappuccino available), cereals, juice and toast. Porridge is also available on request. A cooked breakfast could be supplied for a small additional charge. Our milk and butter is sourced from a small local organic dairy. We make our own bread, jams and marmalade.
We have two very well behaved dogs. Meg a Collie/Dalmatian cross and Echo a Border Collie. The dogs are not allowed upstairs or in the front room and are excluded from the dining area while people are eating.
None apart from no smoking!
We could discuss the possibility of guests bringing dogs but as we have two of our own this might be a problem.
Martin&Fran are excellent hosts! You feel at home and comfortable from the first minute on. And when you want to know latest news about (English) politics, society or rugby - you surely have in Martin a very interesting person to talk to.
The house is an easy 15-20min walk from the town center, where you'll find everything you need. We'd def go back - just to stay at this great place again!
This is 5* accommodation with 6* hosts !! We could not have asked for a better room, a nicer breakfast and more accommodating hosts. We shall return.
Very friendly and accommodating
Great breakfast with yummy organic fare
Second time and coming again next month
Martin and Fran were exceptional hosts whose generosity of spirit made us feel very welcome in their home. We truly appreciated their interest in our quest to trace our ancestral roots and the advice and information they shared, added to our experience. The bedroom-en-suite had everything in it to make it more than comfortable (loved the accessibility of tea and coffee in the room). And the view of the garden, especially now, in Spring, was lovely. The breakfasts were delicious! Our experience was perfect in every way. And having the dogs greet us at the door was like "coming home"! Definitely a stellar experience. Highly recommended.
Another great visit. the same high standards are maintained by the genial hosts, complemented by fresh home made bread.
Martin and Fran are always friendly and welcoming, and it was good to meet some of their extended family over Easter. I am always quickly provided with a key, so I can come and go as I please. I usually stay with Martin and Fran when I am going to a country music weekend nearby, which sometimes means returning late at night - Martin and Fran always leave a downstairs light on, and their two dogs often welcome me home (I think they are sometimes a little disappointed to see that I am not the person who walks them). The dogs are lovely - they are obviously very well trained, and they know exactly which parts of the house they are allowed in - never upstairs. Good breakfasts again, with fresh bread and coffees made by Martin. My room was as clean and comfortable as always. Kettle / coffee / tea are provided in the room, and I was invited to help myself to fresh milk from the kitchen. I am also invited to use the lounge, and watch the television if I wish, but my weekends are so full I never seem to have time to do so.
