En suite room in West end of Darlington. At the time of posting we are one of only two Airbnb spaces in the town of Darlington.
We are happy to provide a key so that guests are able to come and go as they require during their stay.
Interaction with Guests
We are happy to spend time chatting with guests if this is what they would like. We have lived in the Darlington area for many years and provide advice about things to do.
A beautiful tree lined avenue in a lovely part of the town. Friendly neighbours and a strong community spirit.. We have a Street Party every June!
Two minute walk to Bus Stop on Coniscliffe Road for buses to the town centre. Main railway station about a 30 minute walk (or 15 minutes from the bus stop in the town centre)
Other Things to Note
A light breakfast is provided at no extra charge. This includes: fairtrade tea or coffee (espresso and cappuccino available), cereals, juice and toast. Porridge is also available on request. A cooked breakfast could be supplied for a small additional charge. Our milk and butter is sourced from a small local organic dairy. We make our own bread, jams and marmalade.
We have two very well behaved dogs. Meg a Collie/Dalmatian cross and Echo a Border Collie. The dogs are not allowed upstairs or in the front room and are excluded from the dining area while people are eating.
None apart from no smoking!
We could discuss the possibility of guests bringing dogs but as we have two of our own this might be a problem.
Another comfortable, homely stay with Martin and Fran. The room is a good sized double, with an en suite shower room. Lovely and clean. Constant hot water. Nice view over the garden. Martin was quick to respond to a slight problem with the curtains. He was also quick to help when I asked him if he would check my car aerial. Lovely freshly baked bread again at breakfast. I would always be happy to stay at Martin and Fran's. The house is in a good position for Darlington Centre - a nice steady walk - great for an early morning swim at the leisure centre.
A beautiful home. I was made to feel very welcome. I would definitely recommend.
Martin has to be one of the friendliest hosts we've experienced on AirBnB. The whole house is large and airy and our peaceful room had a splendid view of the garden. We were visiting Darlington for a funeral and, despite the sad circumstances, were glad to have a warm and welcoming house to return to. Oh and if you don't like dogs, don't be put off as they were both lovely and gentle.
Extremely pleasant and convenient, in terms of location, hospitality, comfort, welcome and hospitality. I agree with all previous positive comments. Martin was generous with his time to discuss the reason of my visit, and most helpful.
Also, I was particularly impressed by how well behaved the dogs are. I have no reserve in recommending this listing
Great welcome after a long train journey
The photo doesn't do it justice- mega shower room
Breakfast yummy- hot croissants and coffee
Really appreciated being fit in at a busy holiday time
I will be back
As a first time user of airbnb, we had a wonderful stay at this beautiful and cosy abode for a week in December. Martin and Fran, the hosts were very friendly and a delight, and so were the canine hosts.
We felt very welcomed. The room itself was large with a very comfy bed and an en suite shower. Adequate storage space available and they even had a tea/coffee facility in the room.
Breakfast seemed popular with previous gusts as well, and we can certainly see why. Table always laid out and we were spoilt with choices of cereal and juice/tea/coffee/soy...you name it they probably have it. Beats many breakfasts in lodges/inns these days.
Location wise, just a short 5-10 minutes stroll in to the town centre.
Overall, very well laid out and well thought of, highly recommended.
Martin is a self-employed research consultant working from his home in Darlington. He is married to Fran who teaches. Their two children are both studying at University. Martin and Fran love the outdoors and they are keen hill walkers. They have decide to donate 10% of their income from airbnb to a small international charity called Motivation which supports people with mobility disabilities around the world.
