  • This was my first time using AirBnB and I was delighted with my experience. Martin and Fran made me feel very welcome. I could come and go at any time and felt a sense of freedom as well as privacy with it. It was the perfect balance between staying in a place with spirit and soul, having a chance to relax, talk to people but also a feeling of home. They are a lovely couple, very friendly and kind and I was impressed that they support other people's ventures. They are interested in and open to people and invested in community. They make donations to a charity from a portion of the AirBnB fees. The breakfast on offer was better than any hotel breakfast. I love my coffee and am fussy about it..and for coffee connoisseurs..you'd do well to stay here ..as Martin even ground beans to make up my coffee with a very snazzy looking coffee machine. The milk is from an organic local dairy which they support, and there were numerous other details which I loved. They put alot of effort and care are into what they are doing. Their dogs are affectionate, friendly and adorable. The room was pleasant, appealing, relaxing, and spotlessly clean with a lovely view and it was nice and quiet. The bed was comfy and the wet room very luxurious. The leafy, tree-lined street was attractive with a sense of community and friendly neighbours. I was impressed with the beautiful mosaic tile house number beside the front door made by creative Fran. Also good parking and a feeling of a 'safe' area. Real value and worth for a reasonable price! Don't you just love the Internet? Thanks very much to you both, I hope I might return again!

  • The room was clean and comfortable with a lovely view over the garden - a spacious en suite with a nice powerful shower, constant hot water, and underfloor heating. The house is on a very attractive tree-lined street, approximately a 15 minute walk into the centre of Darlington. Martin and his family made me very welcome and invited me to make myself at home in their kitchen and front room. Breakfast included delicious fresh bread made by Martin - lovely ! Free wi-fi was available throughout the house, and Martin helped out with a problem I had with my ipad.

  • I couldn't of had a warmer and more hospitable stay. Martin so very kindly picked me up from the station and went out of his way to take me to the place I was going, slightly outside of town. Both Martin and his Wife Fran made me feel ever so welcome and comfortable in their beautiful home. They are both very interesting individuals with great conversation if you so wish. They provided a wide choice of breakfast options including amazing homemade bread and marmalade. If your in the area I couldn't recommend them more . Big Thank you and appreciation to them both :)))

  • We stayed with Martin and Fran for only 1 night. They were all extremely welcoming and nice.
The house is quite large and the private room and bathroom is quite spacious, clean and new renovated. The family has 2 very well behaved dogs l. We had everything we could possibly need, including towels and breakfast and very much enjoyed meeting everyone. We are looking forward to staying here again

  • Staying at Martin's place was a pure delight! The house is gorgeous, the room looks just as pretty as it does on the photo, the bathroom includes everything you need, but above all, it's Martin and his wife Fran that made my short stay truly unforgettable! They are the sweetest people I've ever met abroad, very friendly and warm, always ready to help. They are also highly intelligent interlocutors, always interested to learn something new and willing to talk about it.
A few hours after my arrival I already felt at home in Darlington, all thanks to Martin and Fran. If I ever get the chance to pass nearby, I will definitely try to stay at their beautiful house once again.

    10 out of 10.

  • I had a lovely time at Martin and Fran's house. It is in a very pleasant part of Darlington, about 20 minutes walk or so from the town centre. The room I stayed in was beautiful and spotlessly clean (as was the whole house) and had a very spacious and smart en suite shower room. Delicious home made jams, very friendy dogs, and Martin was always on hand to help out with anything I needed. Highly recommended

  • Martin and Fran were a pleasure to meet and went out of their way to make me feel at home in their home. I would heartily recommend them to anyone, as it was lovely meeting and staying with them.

  • I stopped with Martin and Fran in December 2013 and I could not have chosen a better place, I would have no hesitation booking it again or recommending it to others.

The house was modern and in a lovely estate 15 mins walk from Darlington town centre.

The room was a good size, spotlessly clean with modern decor and a comfortable double bed. The room also had a private ensuite with shower and toilet and underfloor heating!

A very pleasant breakfast was included in the price, I particularly enjoyed the home made bread!

The hospitally of the hosts was above and beyond what you could expect, they could not have been more friendly or helpful. The hosts do have a couple of dogs who remain downstairs and are also very friendly and well behaved.
