Great little one bedroom apartment with everything in it! Kitchen to cook, good bed and Claro TV. Plus a rancho over the water to enjoy Saigon Bay Sunsets!
What else you can ask for!
Vista Selva is the smaller apartment which overlooks a beautiful tropical garden with orchids and many humming birds. Vista Selva has one bedroom with a full double bed and a bathroom with a hot water shower. In the living room there is a dining area and a sofa which converts to a comfortable bed. Occupants of Vista Selva have use of the back part of the dock with a roofed rancho with two hammocks.
The apartment has fully equipped kitchen with new appliances and all utensils and cookware needed for food preparation. The apartment has WiFi and satellite TV.
Bicycles are also available. Each Bicycle for $4 a day.
Jenny is a very warm hostess. She communicated specific directions for finding the place, since we were arriving in a rental car. The apartment was clean, and a woman came to replace our towels every day. This charming unit is the inland half of duplex that sits over the bay. You share access to an ample deck that includes tables for eating, hammocks for relaxing, and chairs for enjoying the sunset. All told, it is a very pleasant atmosphere. I would describe the neighborhood as authentic, with lots of people walking around and a handful of (expensive) local markets nearby. The town center is a bit further afield and requires either a bicycle or cab ride to reach. You can walk to a beach on the opposite shore easily enough, but you may want to explore other options on the island, depending on the sort of coastal activity you are seeking. In general, Bocas offers plenty of island culture, and Jon's Place is an excellent spot from which to absorb it all.
This rental was ok. The neighborhood wasn't as nice as we expected so we left early. It also turned out that the owner of the apartment was staying in the adjoining unit and was completing repairs int he apartment. As a result there was quite a bit of equipment on the deck behind the house and guite a bit of noise. The apartment itself was very tidy and clean. Jenny was nice, but not very helpful. When we arrived no one was at the reception desk and we had to wait over 30 minutes for someone to arrive. Once Jenny did arrive all she did was give us the keys and told us where the room was. While the apartment was clean, the gas for the stove had not been turned on and she provided no guidance. We wanted to rent bikes, but had no idea how or who to contact. This place is fine, but if you're looking for a relaxing vacation spot I wouldn't recommend it.
The place was cozy, cute and clean. Fit description well. Nice to be away from town a bit. Had a great stay!
Great listing! Jeny is an attentive and helpful host. We stayed in Jon's Place and had hammocks on the water and everything else we needed. It's about 20 mins walk to downtown or $2 by cab. Grocery store nearby makes it easy to stay in Saigoncita.
Our first night in Bocas we stayed at Jon's place.....which was perfect!! Although Jenny was not around when we first arrived, her staff was incredibly helpful and got us settled in quickly. The bikes were key!! They had definitely seen some better days but worked incredibly well for our 8-10 mile ride, on which we found the most beautiful beach we have ever been on. Another Panama trip is not in our near future, but for anyone else visiting Bocas we highly recommend staying at Jenny's cabanas.
Our last night in Bocas was perfect, and a good portion of that was because we had a wonderful place to stay!
