Getting around

The property is about 15 minutes walking or 3 minutes by car/taxi from downtown Quepos. From there, you have a frequent bus service (every 15 minutes, 60 cents/ride) to the beach and National Park Manuel Antonio. The drive takes about 10 minutes, also by car (parking along the beach or at the entrance of the NP)

Closest airport is San Jose (SJO), with several options for transportation to Quepos:

SANSA AND NATURE AIR are the two local airlines, taking you to Quepos or back to San Jose, the flight is 25 minutes, the ticket cost $ 75.-/pax one way. Both airlines can be found in the web and tickets can be easy purchased online.

INTERBUS AND GRAYLINE: shuttle service with several pick up and drop off locations.

The other option is a van transportation, pick up at the airport upon your arrival and drop off at Casa Amapola. This way you can already enjoy your drive from the Central Valley to the Pacific Coast.

VAN TRANSPORTATION: door to door service (any time day or night)
Ask us for the current price.

You can, of course, also rent a vehicle and drive by yourself, but I can always see the guests arriving very exhausted. For your individual transportation then in Manuel Antonio, there are several rental car companies with similar cars and prices:

  • Beautiful place! We absolutely LOVED this place and were blown away when we walked in! The views are fantastic. The house is spacious and very comfortable. We only wished we could have stayed longer. We would definitely stay there again! Thomas was very friendly and accommodating. Not a single negative thing to say about the whole experience. Awesome value... would definitely recommend!!

  • Well organized, fun and resourceful host with the best local information. This was a great stay and the best way to visit Coast Rica. Thanks Thomas!

  • My friends and I stayed here for 5 days and we absolutely loved it. The view from the terrace was spectacular especially at sunset. Thomas was such a wonderful host he wasn't overbearing but he made it clear that if we had any questions at all he was happy to help. Even before we got Costa Rica Thomas took the time to communicate with me and tell me about sights and activities in the area. Also, we loved the little notebook he left for us which not only had contact information but brochures and descriptions for activities. The apartment was very clean and there's plenty of space. We were on a hillside so we felt like we had plenty of privacy but we could be in the center of town in less than 5 minutes and it's only about 20 minutes away from Manuel Antonio National Park so the location is excellent. If ever I go to Costa Rica again I will certainly stay here.

  • We had a great time al Casa Amapola and I recommend this spot for your (email hidden)omas was a very nice and helpful host.
The house is very confortable; bedrooms have AC, social areas are spacious and the kitchen is very well equipped. The house is conveniently located: near to the National Park and the beaches. Shops and restaurants are nearby; so I believe this house is a good value for your vacations. Just be aware that the garage is not too big. One car, fits Ok, but taking two cars may not be a good idea.

  • My girlfriend and I had a wonderful experience at the Villa. Thomas was more than accommodating and helped us with transportation from the Quepos airport. His assistant helped us with the tours we were interested in.

The place has two bedrooms with two king beds, so it will easily and comfortably fit two couples. The kitchen is modern and there are two working refrigerators.

The decor is a bit dated but the place is very clean and has great amenities...free wifi...air conditioning in the bedrooms...laundry can be done for you if requested for a reasonable fee.

The only difficulty we had is that we didn't have a car. The view is remarkable and there are great sunsets...but the property is high up on a steep hill. The walk is VERY challenging if you're looking to go up and down often. A car would also help to get you over to Manuel Antonio.

This property is IN QUEPOS but very close to MANUEL ANTONIO. A bus can get you there for $.50 if you don't have a car.

    Thanks, Thomas!

  • From our first moment of contact with Thomas, our experience with Casa Amapola was perfect. As we arrived in Quepos, Thomas met us in town and showed us the way to the Casa and, after 6 hours of driving, we were simply blown away by what we got when we arrived. Perched on a hill above Quepos, the Casa -- more like a Villa, really -- opens out onto the most expansive sunset views we have ever experienced. The house is large with high ceilings and a great lay out, the bedrooms are air conditioned and have good beds, and other amenities include a very well equipped kitchen, indoor and outdoor showers and a huge porch. Sunset is amazing, but early risers will also be amazed by the early-morning bird life in the garden. The vantage point of watching the birds from above is fantastic. We loved the house, but were equally impressed by Thomas, who had thought of everything from providing us a nice bowl of tropical fruit, to coffee and cream and sugar. He must have realized that once we arrived that afternoon, we would be in no hurry to hustle out the door the next morning! A+ -- and we're hard markers;)

About
Moved from Switzerland 15 years ago, just love it here! The people are "pura vida", life is so easy, the climate is very healthy! Very lucky to have purchased a big piece of property in the Playa Macha area, declared as green area, where I offer the Tree House and Villa Malinche. It's almost like the National Park, lot's of wildlife and very peaceful, surrounded by lush rain forest! My wife Lili is a licensed physic therapist, also with a great dedication for massage treatments, she can make you feel in heaven.... Don't miss an in-home treatment during your stay! We are happy to share this relaxed jungle feeling on our property with the people we meet through Airbnb. Just lay back in the hammocks, taste the famous coffee and watch the monkeys fly by...
