  • The Downtown Staff made our stay in Las Palmas very comfortable & enjoyable. Iliana, Michaela and Ivan were very friendly and helpful.
The location –right in the very city center- was perfect. Just a three-minute walk from the San Telmo bus station which takes you around the city and the entire island. Our room (as seen in the picture) was nice and very clean. We even had our towels exchanged during our 6-day stay. The breakfast (incl. sweet pastries, fresh fruit, cereals, yoghurt, toast, butter, jam & Nutella, coffee, tea & juice) was much richer than we expected. We used the kitchen and found that everybody cleaned up after themselves so the common areas were always pleasantly clean. There are 4 common bathrooms, 3 with a shower. They were cleaned every day and a variety of shower gels and shampoos were available for everybody to use. Altogether - we loved staying at Downtown, happily recommend it to others and we're already planning to come back. :-) Barbara & Stephen

  • This is a wonderful choice for anyone who are planning to visit Gran Canaria. It's in the heart of the city, close to the main bus station (3 mins on foot), shops (both high street shops and boutiques), supermarket, and restaurants as well. The room has high ceiling, plus a balcony - it's such a luxury to enjoy a glass of beer under the afternoon sun. Though it's catagorised as a hostel, it is very cozy, featuring a large fully-functional kitchen, a dining room, a library, and four bathrooms (three of them are very big and comfortable). The building is itself in Canarian style - nice indeed - and the staffs are extremely friendly. It also offers a moderate breakfast, which is given in a serve-yourself, no-time-limit style. For what they ask for in terms of price, I believe that it is very hard to find any better deal than this. Highly recommended!!

  • We had a very pleasent stay at Downtown in Las Palmas! The breakfast was excellent, the room clean and big enough. Bathrooms were always clean and available. Downtown hostel is in the best part of the city and we got a good tip for dinner. When visiting Las Palmas, we will always come back!

  • I had never done this kind of travelling before and didn't know what to expect. It was amazing. The girls who are looking after the place are wonderful. It's cleaned regularly. It's placed in a convenient place in town. Easy to get buses and easy to wonder to the Old Town. Andreja is a Joy and after I found my feet I felt very much at home. I met some amazing people who I am missing very much and hope to return.

  • Lots of good things to say about this B&B/hostel, including very friendly and helpful staff, and fabulous location in the very attractive old town. Everything was very clean, including the common kitchen and common bathrooms. Room was pretty basic, but it was fun to look down on the street from the balcony. WIFI signal was excellent.

If staff offer to assist with car rental, I would advise against using this service, and rather head down to the airport to make your own arrangements, or use the web on your own. There was no financial advantage in having them do so (if anything, possibly more expensive because of airport drop-off fee which other companies do not charge), and it just chewed up a whole lot of time in waiting for (very late) pick-up, heading over to their office for the paper work, and then getting out of Las Palmas.

  • I had the room with the balcony so it was pretty great.

    December 2013
  • I was actually given the other double room, not the one with the balcony, but I had no complaints, great value for money, free breakfast and great shower!
