The Space

Our private, garden apartment has its own entrance. It is a comfortable fit for three guests, it is two blocks from Prospect Park, close to many fine restaurants, great cafés and the best bagels in NYC. Downtown Manhattan is 25 minutes away. Brooklyn's finest cultural institutions are a short walk.

Close to F, G and R trains. Downtown Manhattan in 25 minutes. Nearby many fine restaurants and a 20 minute walk to Barclays Center, Brooklyn Academy of Music, Brooklyn Museum of Art, Brooklyn Botanical Garden and two blocks from Prospect Park.

All the art in the space is original, mostly made by the owners' friends. There is a queen-sized bed in the main bedroom, and there is a twin bed in a smaller room which is directly adjacent to the bathroom, so it should be noted that the guests in the main bedroom will walk by the twin bed on their way to the bathroom. The whole space is completely separate from the owners. There is access to a garden. We have a fridge, means to prepare coffee and tea and a microwave. Guests will have to take a vacation from routine cooking to explore the amazing food offerings of NYC.

The guests will have access to the private apartment by an entrance that is separate from the owners' entrance. The backyard is shared with the owners.

The owners will be upstairs in a separate apartment during the guest's stay. The owners are artists with 20+ years experience with the NY art world.

We have two cats but they will not be in the apartment space.

  • My girlfriend and I spent three days at Lisa's garden apartment in Park Slope. First off, I cannot imagine a better location in Park Slope, especially for the price: two blocks from the most major subway line that travels to the neighborhood; a few doors from 7th Avenue, the coolest street in the business district (which coincidentally is the street on which you'd be walking to and from the subway); and three blocks from Prospect Park. The apartment was roomy for two people (it could have housed at least one additional person) and clean--really no complaints there. And although Lisa was out of town during our stay, but she was easily reachable and took care of small needs/answered questions as they arose on a couple of occasions over the weekend and she had family members around to help if/when necessary. All in all, I'd have no trouble recommending this cozy 1.5BD in Park Slope to anyone wanting a clean and convenient place to stay in a great, great neighborhood and I would happily stay here again.

  • Our host, Lisa, was inviting and very accommodating. The location is wonderful and close to the subway, restaurants, cafes and Prospect Park. The accommodations, however, were unexpectedly more hostel-like than anticipated and advertised. Though the bed was comfortable, the mattress and pillows were old and very stained (underneath the sheets and pillowcases), which is not so pleasant. Things were a bit unkempt and dusty and as the bottom floor/garden/basement apartment, it is not really an ideal place to hang out in and relax. Overall, a good experience but overpriced for the quality of accommodations.

  • Great place to stay in Brooklyn! Lisa was a friendly host who provided us with great tips on things / places to check out during our stay. We really appreciated her suggestions as we got to explore different parts of NY, which we might not have done otherwise! Would definitely recommend her place! :)

  • Lisa and Byron were great hosts! Very friendly and helpful. Lisa was prompt in replying to emails and answered all my questions, including assisting with airport taxi information. The check in process was seamless. Lisa and Byron gave us great recommendations, including Brooklyn Bridge park, which visited 4 times during our trip. Highly recommend it! Beautiful sunset view of Manhattan. Also enjoyed the Bagel Hole and local coffee shops nearby.

The apartment was exactly as pictured. Coffee, tea, milk, fresh flowers and soft towels were a great welcome! It's an older building but everything was in working order. The shower was hot and had good pressure, no problems at all there. The bed was very comfortable and it was nice that fans were provided since it did get warm during our trip. Normal neighborhood sounds and some noise from upstairs but that's expected- we slept like babies and until 9 am most mornings!

After 5 days of being in the apartment, shopping at the corner market, taking the super convenient F train on 7th ave to the city and walking the neighborhood (including amazing Prospect Park), we felt like locals!

Just as described, it was the perfect, quiet, comfortable space to come home to after busy days venturing the city. Looking forward to a return trip one day.

  • Lisa's accommodations were perfect for our stay in New York! My husband and I were traveling with our daughter and my father and needed a place big enough for all of us to rest comfortably. We were lucky that Lisa had a last minute cancellation and was able to accommodate us. Park Slope was fantastic- quick access to the F train which was our life-line to the city and the local restaurants and markets were also great for late night snacks and milk runs. Lisa made our stay very comfortable and was a great resource for all of the local hot spots. Our daughter loved walking to Prospect Park and we loved running into Mayor de Blaisio!

  • Lisa was wonderful. Answered all of our questions even before booking. Once we arrived, check-in and out were very simple. Even if they were going to be away they made arrangements for us. We were able to arrive late and check-out early no problem. Bed was comfortable and bedding was clean. Not a place for someone looking to spend a lot of time in the apartment but was just what we needed as we were out and about the majority of the time. The description of the place is very accurate but if you have further questions about it I'm sure Lisa will be prompt in answering them. Neighborhood felt very safe as well.

  • This was our first airbnb experience and it could not have turned out better. The location was ideal - close to the subway, amenities, and all the Park Slope life and culture you could hope for. The apartment had more space than we even needed and check-in/check out were effortless. I would definitely recommend the space to others and would happily return to it myself.

  • My parents came to visit us in Brooklyn and stayed in Lisa's lovely home. It is a super conveniently located, sweet little apartment, with a yard access where two gorgeous, curious cats came to say, "Hello" every morning. Great place!
