Interaction with Guests
When home, Joe & I are available to interact as little or as much as guests desire.
We have a beautiful, private, relaxed & carefree home.
We enjoy fine wines and conversation; we retire at 10 pm.
We are located in the forested, tranquil San Geronimo Valley surrounded by rolling hills, douglas fir, oak and bay trees. There are excellent hiking trails, golf and restaurants within walking distance or short drive.
If you or your children have not seen the giant redwood trees, that truly is a must do. In this regard, our home is about 8 minutes from Samuel P Taylor State Park, where there are magnificent redwood trees, many right next to the Lagunitas Creek. This experience is highly similar to visiting Muir Woods but you do not need to park, take a bus and wait in long lines with a huge crowd of people. This park is a mystical place … children & adults can walk right into the hallowed out base of some giant redwood trees. Plan a picnic ... the kids love playing in the creek.
The many beaches near us offer adults and kids great joy!
The village of Stinson Beach, has a spectacular beach and the quaint town features good restaurants, art galleries, surf shop, etc.
Point Reyes National Seashore is about 15 minutes from our Lagunitas home. It was established to preserve and protect wilderness, natural ecosystems, and cultural resources along the diminishing undeveloped coastline of the western United States.
The Seashore is a sanctuary for myriad plant and animal species and for the human spirit—for discovery, inspiration, solitude, and recreation—and exists as a reminder of the human connection to the land.
Marine biologists have identified nearly a third of all known marine mammal species in the waters surrounding Point Reyes. Blue whales and humpback whales feed there during spring and summer months. Gray whales migrate past the shores twice a year on their round trip from Alaska to Baja.
The Point Reyes National Seashore Visitor Center on Bear Valley Road is a fantastic opportunity for children & adults. There is a natural history museum, maps of all the hiking trails, Miwok Indian cultural experiences AND, across the road, the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake Trail … it’s just a short hike, but very memorable.
On the way to Stinson Beach is the "Five Brooks Horseback Riding" facility.
Nearby Tomales Bay features “Blue Waters Kayaking”, a full service kayaking outfitter.
Local Restaurants & Deli:
Lagunitas Grocery & Deli is just at the bottom of our hill. It features home cooked deli items.
“Arti Restaurant", also just at the bottom of our hill, features Indian fare and gets RAVE reviews.
"Two Bird Cafe at the Valley Inn", about a mile away, is very fine American food.
The locals love it for casual breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is a charming outdoor dining deck. In season, they serve fresh oysters.
The town of Fairfax is about 15 minutes away ... LOTS of great live music, movie theater, restaurants, bakeries and coffee shops.
The village of Nicasio, about 10-15 minutes away, features the "Rancho Nicasio” restaurant, an old fashioned saloon type of building. Robert Redford hangs out there when he is visiting George Lucas down the road. The "Rancho" has lunches, dinners and music in the evenings ... on the weekends they host live lawn concerts with BBQ food ... makes for a GREAT day!
Lots of fresh, organic, local food, cheeses and organic markets ... no shortage of gluten free offerings.
There are glorious hiking trails right from our driveway ... do a search and all of them will pop up. We're also happy to give you ideas when you arrive.
Golden Gate Transit & West Marin Stagecoach bus services.
Other Things to Note
We serve guests complimentary wine.
Tea & coffee are available in the guest room.
There is a flat screen DVD player in the room; also
a mini refrigerator and hot water kettle.
We pride ourselves on the serenity that our home provides. Smoking of any kind is not allowed anywhere on the property. Also, no candles please because of fire danger.
Even though Geraldine wasn't there to greet us, her home and property is beautiful. We were met by Lindsey who lives on the property and given gate and room keys. The private room is inviting and bright. You feel as if you are sitting up amongst the treetops. It can be a little tricky navigating the road up to the house, but we never once encountered another car, just pedestrians. The neighborhood is wonderful and Fairfax is just a quick ride down the road if you need great restaurants and necessities. Thank you Geraldine for all of the information given beforehand, it was all as you had said.
The room is very nice - well kept, attractive and comfortable. The house is situated on top of a hill, and was a bit hard to find at first, but if you just keep going and follow the directions, you will get there. The gardens behind the house (right outside the door to the room) are beautiful and a great place to sit and relax. We did not meet Joe, but Geraldine was friendly and welcoming when we arrived, and had a bottle of wine waiting for us, as well as an electric kettle and various teas in the room.
Geraldine and Joe are wonderful hostesses! They are genuinely nice people and have great energy. My husband and I wanted to stay here because we liked what we saw; photos and reviews. When we arrived, we were impressed by the location, perched up on a mountain overlooking the dense evergreens. The landscape of the home is very charming and well kept with many beautiful flowers and plant life. The bedroom and bath was bigger than we had expected and it felt very private since we had our own entrance through the garden and up a stepping stone path. Star gazing is incredible here! Overall, my husband and I would highly recommend staying here to friends and family.
This was a very enchanting place to celebrate our 11th Wedding Anniversary. The hostess took good care of us, but also respected our privacy. We were even gifted with wine and chocolates awaiting us. You can tell that care is taken to detail here. Bed and sheets are a lovely landing. It was great to drive lazily down the road to ArtiCafe for amazing Indian food so close by ( we went twice ) privileged a 10% discount by hosts. We were delighted and surprised by the rose gardens, as we had imagined taking some memorabilia photos by roses but didn't know where that would be - and then there it was waiting for us ! Barely scratched the surface here, with a pool, hikes, hot tub and meditation spots undiscovered - but this means we must come back !
Especially with Point Reyes, Abbots Lagoon and the Bovine Bakery close enough for a day trip.
At breakfast the next day ( at Two Birds Cafe ) we overheard some bicyclists talking about the owls in the area. I put two and two together, that the "who" sound I had heard at night was indeed an owl ! Glad to know it wasn't my imagination.
We took some great photos here that we will cherish for years to come. I would recommend that nature lovers come for the beauty and magic.
Dearest Chris & Molly,
Thanks so very much for your kind, generous and highly detailed review. Cheryl had told us that you had a lovely visit but it's heartwarming to read your summary. There's nothing much we can do about the "whooing" night owls ... we don't like spraying for the occasional spider ... and the hot water system is a LONG story ... we wanted to go GREEN, invested a small fortune into a "on demand" system that has NEVER been suitable despite several visits from the engineering department of Takagi heaters. We're in despair ... after such a large investment redoing all of the gas lines (one of their excuses was that our 1/2" line was inadequate and we had to replumb with 3/4" line), the cost of the system itself, etc. But we might have to give in and get a conventional gas heater again. Thanks for mentioning it ... we need to know these things.
Do visit again ... would love to meet the two of you!
Warm regards and much gratitude,
Geraldine & Joe
Had a great one night stay - the forest and gardens are beautiful. The private rooms were just what we needed for an over night in the Point Reyes area. Highly recommend for a unique experience. Yes I did spend time on the putting greens which are a test to one's putting skills for sure.
This place was just perfect - the room was clean and location very private. The weather cooperated and made Lagunitas sunny and warm so with full access to their beautiful gardens and pool I ended up spending most of my weekend here and enjoying all of it. I left renewed.
The reservation was canceled 14 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.

My husband & I have lived in the same house in west Marin near San Francisco for 43 years; we were newspaper publishers, now retired. We have been building our one acre garden, fruit tree orchard, putting green, garden meditation room for 15 years and are now ready to share it all with guests. We like to travel, play golf, visit local wineries, read and entertain family and guests
