About this listing
The 20th hole, 'so called' because it started life as a refuge for golfer's, is a fully self contained studio apt/annexe, that is NOT attached to the main house, it has it's own entrance, and is completely private. The apt is in the village of West Drayton, about 2 miles from Heathrow, 45mins LGW, 2mins BR Mainline station.
There are several quality restaurants close by, including, Chinese, Indian, and English, plus a proper British FISH'n'CHIP shop, there is a good supermarket on the corner of the street, a nearby park, with outdoor gym equipment, and a swimming pool a short bus ride away, also a short bus ride away is a lovely old style English pub, with no Telly, no Jukebox, no pool table, no one arm bandits, no wi-fi, just good conversation, good beer, and fantastic food, at very reasonable prices.
The apt boasts a very comfortable double bed, plus a couch for relaxing, watching TV, etc. All bed linen and towels provided.
Very quiet, secluded, clean accommodation, with fitted kitchen, shower room/toilet, and a nice garden.
It is only suitable for a single person, or couples sharing the bed, although a small child in a cot (not supplied) would not be a problem.
The nearby BR trains whisks you to Paddington station in 20mins, from where the various subway trains take you into the city in 10/15 minutes, and the Buses from the end of the street take you right into the Airport in less than 10mins, these same buses will take you anywhere else you want to go as well, or to the nearest tube station,"also in the airport" from where the city is your Oyster (card). NB, an Oyster card is a cheap way to travel around London on public transport, they can be purchased from most newspaper shops, and all railway stations, it costs £5 to buy, you put some credit on it, and it then reduces the transit fares by nearly half.
Transport for London no longer accept cash on the bus network, so you will need to purchase an Oyster card, or some other means of prepaying your bus journeys.
So there you have it folks, if you want a nice quite, private place, less than an hour from any part of one of the most exciting city's in the world, with more kinds of public transport than you could shake a stick at, including under ground trains, over ground trains, London red bus', green line bus', city bus, tram's, black cab's, mini cabs', motor bike cabs, rickshaws, bicycle hire, and even a cable car across the Thames, and still only 10mins from Heathrow, then the 20th hole is the place to be.
Just one thing folks, remember the world time zones when booking, because 8pm in your house might be 3am in mine, and Airbnb use text alerts, and I need my beauty sleep.
ALSO PLEASE NOTE!!!!!
Check in is from 2pm (1400hrs) and check out by midday (1200hrs) unless otherwise agreed.
Interaction with Guests
We do interact
There are no hard and fast rules, just common sense, IE; if wish to smoke, please step outside, if you go out for any length of time, please switch off all lights, and set the heating on the timer for when you return, if you cook a meal, we will expect you clean the utensils, cutlery, and the cooker, if you have an accident and break/damage something, please tell us, we won't execute you, and if we're not there when you check out, please switch off the heating, lights, and taps, lock the door and post the keys through the letterbox of the main house.
Also, try and not arrive "unless agreed" before the check in time of 2pm, because the last thing we want you to see is the previous guest's used bed linen and wet towels lying on the floor, and if you are leaving early in the morning, could you, if at all possible, carry suitcases until clear of the house, as the noise generated by the wheels can sometimes disturb our next door neighbour.
The flat is exactly the same as pictured, very nice, well equiped and clean. It was very comfortable with a beautiful garden. Seamus and Maggie were adorable hosts and welcoming. They made sure everything was alright during our stay. My friend and I really felt like home. It had everything we needed. Plus, the place is near many shops and the rail station. We definitely recommand this flat.
Thank you Seamus and Maggie !
It was once again a treat to stay with Seamus and Maggie. They really live the "thousand welcomes" philosophy. It was great to be able to do a load of washing so I could have clean clothes to travel home in. A and so nice staying in the cleaner air and quieter environment than in central London. Thanks again!
Didn't get to meet the host but he's very prompt. Every questions that you'll ask are already answered in the room, posted all over the places around this nice little studio!
Seamus and his wife greeted us when we arrived. Their cottage in the back is wonderful. Private, clean and has a kitchen and even washer. Super clean. Seamus gave us fantastic recommendations to take the bus to The Plough- a local outdoor pub. Their place is less then 10 minutes to Heathrow so a great place to stay when heading back.
Fantastic experience! I vacationed in central London for a few days, but wanted to spend my last night at a place close to Heathrow (really early flight the next morning). Seamus' flat was perfect. It's charming, quiet, and clean, and updated with everything you'd need. The location is in walking distance to all public transport, not just to Heathrow but also back to central London and elsewhere. Seamus even stopped by to say hi and make sure everything was okay. If you're looking to stay at a great-but-affordbale place near the airport, skip the hostels and overpriced hotels and stay here. 100% recommend.
Seamus was not around when we arrived because of our bad timing. But the instructions were very clear and it was like an adventure venturing through their little pathway into the garden to get to our house.
The place was clean and extremely well-equipped. We were only there for less than 12 hours.. but we had a great rest. Seamus was kind and came by to check whether we were doing fine! A pity we didn't have a proper chat. Would love to stay there again!
Seamus and Maggie are warm hosts. They are quick to help and even ordered a taxi for us for the next morning. The suite is exactly as pictured and very bright and clean. I highly recommend taking a cab there, especially if you are jet lagged and don't want to hassle with a bus. It's very convenient and easy to access London by public transport either through the airport or local train. We will definitely stay here again if we are back through London.
