A fantastic location for a one bedroom flat in the heart of Covent Garden in central London.
Restaurants, shops, theatres, cinemas, clubs, bars and pubs, museums and art galleries are all a few minutes walk away. Covent Garden Piazza, Soho, Leicester Square and Shaftesbury Avenue are less than 5 minutes walk away and Oxford Street and Trafalgar Square probably take about 5 minutes.
The apartment is above Neal's Yard at the top of Neal Street. It is accessed from both Neal's Yard and Shorts Gardens up flights of stone steps and security doors at the top give access to an open air courtyard at first floor level. The hall leading to the flat is accessed directly from this courtyard.
The apartment has wooden floors and a sitting room with sofa, coffee table, dining table and four chairs. The small fitted kitchen is at one end of the room with fridge, hob and microwave (which can also be used as oven or grill). The fully tiled shower room is off the hall and there is also a washer/dryer in a cupboard in the hall. The bedroom is at the back of the flat overlooking the courtyard and is therefore very quiet with a double bed, plenty of storage space and a hair dryer in the drawer. I've just added an alarm clock (with no tick!) as requested by one of our guests.
New secure Wifi Internet is available in the flat and there is a television with dvd player in the living room.
The apartment is small but well designed and has everything you need as a base to explore central London and is ideal for two people.
The nearest tube stations are Covent Garden and Leicester Square.
The flat is off a private residential courtyard at first floor level. Please take care to be quiet when returning late at night as many of the occupants of the other flats will be asleep.
I'll run through everything about the flat when you arrive - and leave the list of explanations with a few do's and don'ts (just common sense really!) and our contact details in case you have any further questions.
Look forward to welcoming you to Covent Garden!
The location is very very good. It is in the center of London. There are Lots of shops, restaurants, bars etc surrounding, just a few steps by walk. M & S is very close to the apartment. And also It is very close to subway, Oxford street, regent street, bond street, British museum, national Gallery etc.
The room is not big, but it has everything you want, separated Kitchen, living room, bathroom and one bedroom. The room is comfort, clean and tidy like a home.
Gilly is very kind and nice. She prepared fruit, cookies, chocolate, juice to my son and milk and cereal for us. For the first day. Thanks so much for your help. And also she prepared some information to us for our visits.
I am so happy to have a wonderful experience in London. And we will stay again in the Gilly's apartment next trip in Lindon.
Thanks so much.
Gilly and Richard's apartment is fantastic, included everything required for our stay, and is extremely centra within busy Covent Garden. The apartment reflected the advertisement on airbnb.
Gilly was very welcoming when we arrived, meeting us with snacks and basic groceries to begin our stay. We were provided a very thorough run down on all we needed to know about the apartment when we arrived and had no issues for the duration of our stay.
We would highly recommend this apartment for a stay in London if you are after central accommodation in.
Gilly was a great host, all was ready and clean when I arrived. She walked me through all of the things one need to know and gave me an overview of the neighborhood. The place is quiet during the night and the bed is comfortable. Heating was working great, so you really feel like at home away from home. The best thing about the apartment is that it is so close to all that you need. Shopping, theaters, museums, pubs, restaurants, all is just 5min walk. I think I used my Oyster card only twice during six day stay.
Highly recommended! On my next trip to London I am looking forward to staying there again.
We arrived at the flat following Gilly’s excellent directions from the Covent Garden Tube station. After 17 hours of travel from the U.S., both the flat itself and Gilly’s warm and cheerful welcome to it were welcome sights indeed! Gilly provided us all we needed to know about the flat and the surrounding areas without overwhelming our jet-lagged brains with redundant or unnecessary information.
The short version of our review is easy: everything about the flat and its location are superb!
The flat was exactly the right size and had exactly the right amenities for our one-week stay. The second-story living room windows look down on the delightful hustle-bustle of Monmouth St. — and if you were willing to lean out the window and you had a good aim, the Seven Dials monument is literally a stone’s throw away.
Yet despite the nearly 24/7 loud, intense, and exciting activity of the area, the flat itself feels remarkably private. You close the double windows and it’s silent. You walk out the front door and you're in a private courtyard. Even the public Neal’s Yard, into which you can emerge from the courtyard feels as if it’s kind of “yours” — as if it’s kind of an extension of the flat itself.
The location — well, Central London doesn't get more central than Seven Dials and believe me, you feel that way. Although you can hop on the Tube or on any of a number of busses from within easy walking distance, you can also just, well, walk, in minutes, to any number of can't-be-missed areas — theatres, Covent Garden, Soho, Piccadilly, Chinatown, Trafalgar Square, Westminster Abby, and several Thames bridges, just to name a few. There’s a supermarket (Tesco) within a couple of very-enjoyable-to-stroll blocks, and there are shops, restaurants, coffee shops, and pubs galore, packed cheek-by-jowl, radiating in all directions. Within the same building shared by the flat are a good pub (The Crown) and an excellent restaurant (Souk Medina). A hundred feet away is an excellent coffee shop (Monmouth Coffee).
So all in all, we loved it. We do have one minor suggestion: the Leicester Square tube stop is almost as close to the flat as is the Covent Garden stop (1,080 feet versus 950 feet), so if you want to avoid the crowded Covent-Garden lifts that are pretty much mandatory for getting from the tracks to the street, we’d recommend using the Leicester Square stop instead.
We’re home, we miss Covent Garden, and we’re already planning a return trip.
What a fantastic apartment! Everything was perfect about it...clean, comfortable and SO convenient. It was exactly as pictured on the website. You went out the door and restaurants, shops, theaters, a food market, etc. were right there. I was able to walk to all the major sights and only took the Underground twice, to and from Heathrow airport.
Gilly met me as planned. She was warm and personal. I liked that she verbally reviewed all the necessary information and also left written notes. She also (very graciously) left breakfast items, cookies, wine, fresh fruit, and general house supplies.
This was my first airbnb apartment, but...based on this terrific experience...not my last. And I do plan to return to Gilly and Richard's lovely apartment next year!
We had a fantastic stay at Gilly and Richards apartment. What an incredible location, you're walking distance to everything you could want to see. The nearest underground station is only 2 minutes away and 7 dials court is so pretty, we were lucky enough to see it all dressed up for Christmas. Gilly was waiting for us when we arrived and was really thorough and helpful, she made sure our wifi was all set up before she left and even organised some soy milk especially for us. The bed is comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked. We would definitely stay again in this fantastic apartment.
It was wonderful to return to Gilly and Richard's apartment in Covent Gardens (first visit in Nov 2012). Gilly was there to greet us and ran through some tips and hints to ensure our stay ran smoothly. Then we had the pleasure of enjoying this clean, neat and quiet apartment for the next 8 nights. The location is superb, amenities complete, and it was always nice to come home to after what turned out to be very full schedules each day. An added bonus for us was the direct line to Heathrow for our return to Australia. Cannot recommend this apartment and host enough. Thank you Gilly...let's hope there is another return visit for us.
Richard and I have owned the flat for about 28 years. We live near Northampton, about an hour's train ride from London. Richard used to use the flat as a base to see his clients who were all in London. He is a freelance photographer working on location (not studios) although now mostly retired. I have always done the admin for his business and also helped with planning and sometimes assisting on photographic shoots. We've got three adult children, two sons and a daughter. Our daughter, Lucy lived in the flat on her own for six months and absolutely loved it!
We love traveling and seeing family and friends. My brother has lived in Italy for over 30 years and we always enjoy seeing our family there. Although we don't live locally, we always like to welcome our guests so that we can show them the flat and everything they need to know. It's great to meet so many lovely people from so many different countries and the flat is in such a fantastic location that our guests love it too.
