About this listing
A fantastic location for a one bedroom flat in the heart of Covent Garden in central London.
Restaurants, shops, theatres, cinemas, clubs, bars and pubs, museums and art galleries are all a few minutes walk away. Covent Garden Piazza, Soho, Leicester Square and Shaftesbury Avenue are less than 5 minutes walk away and Oxford Street and Trafalgar Square probably take about 5 minutes.
The apartment is above Neal's Yard at the top of Neal Street. It is accessed from both Neal's Yard and Shorts Gardens up flights of stone steps and security doors at the top give access to an open air courtyard at first floor level. The hall leading to the flat is accessed directly from this courtyard.
The apartment has wooden floors and a sitting room with sofa, coffee table, dining table and four chairs. The small fitted kitchen is at one end of the room with fridge, hob and microwave (which can also be used as oven or grill). The fully tiled shower room is off the hall and there is also a washer/dryer in a cupboard in the hall. The bedroom is at the back of the flat overlooking the courtyard and is therefore very quiet with a double bed, plenty of storage space and a hair dryer in the drawer. I've just added an alarm clock (with no tick!) as requested by one of our guests.
New secure Wifi Internet is available in the flat and there is a television with dvd player in the living room.
The apartment is small but well designed and has everything you need as a base to explore central London and is ideal for two people.
The nearest tube stations are Covent Garden and Leicester Square.
The flat is off a private residential courtyard at first floor level. Please take care to be quiet when returning late at night as many of the occupants of the other flats will be asleep.
I'll run through everything about the flat when you arrive - and leave the list of explanations with a few do's and don'ts (just common sense really!) and our contact details in case you have any further questions.
Look forward to welcoming you to Covent Garden!
What a great place and host! Gilly was there to greet us, explained everything (including where to get a great cup of coffee!) The flat was cozy and had everything we needed, and the location was fantastic.
If we go back will definitely want to stay there again.
The apartment is all you are looking for. The location is amazing. It does not get more central. Gilly takes good care of the home and her guests. She is very frendly and accomodating. She answers every question very quickly. I have stayed in the apartment twice and I hope to return again. More than highly recommended.
A fantastic apartment in one of the best locations in London. Everything was spotlessly clean and lots of basic provisions were left to get us started. The bed was comfortable and the bedroom was very quiet, being at the back of the flat overlooking a private courtyard. The lounge was spacious enough for us not to feel hemmed in for our two weeks stay. The kitchen had everything we needed. The surrounding streets are full of fabulous cafes, restaurants and boutique shops, and the tube stations Covent Garden and Leicester Square were only 5 mins walk away, at the most. The apartment is only a short walk from lots of major attractions in London. Our host, Gilly, met us at the apartment when we arrived and she was so helpful with all sorts of information about the Covent Garden area, transport, etc. We'd definitely recommend this apartment to other travellers.
Gilly was very helpful sending me directions to the flat and accepting a change to my booking. Gilly also let me arrive at the flat earlier than originally planned. Gilly also left some food, juice and milk for me which was very helpful while I got myself orientated with London again. I would definitely recommend this flat to others it's in a great location especially if you are planning on seeing some shows.
A charming apartment in an ideal location, tucked into an inner courtyard within walking distance of most tourist attractions - a tranquil oasis. Seven Dials, now a lively area was steps distant: Neals Yard Dairy, a half block; the theater showing The Mousetrap, a block; Trafalgar Square and Chinatown ten minutes South; the British Museum, ten North.
Gilly could not have been more helpful. She answered our advance questions, was waiting for us upon our arrival per arrangement, patiently showed us how to utilize the flat, graciously left breakfast food, fruit, milk, tea, coffee… and even a bottle of bubbly.
The cozy flat had all the essentials including a full kitchen, washer/drier, hair dryer, vacuum, fan, and ample storage. Everything was scrupulously clean, in good working order displaying the owner’s care. The bed was comfortable.
The bedroom faced the courtyard, the living room, narrow Shorts Gardens.
We’d happily return for our next visit to London.
Gilly and Richard's apartment is wonderful. Set in the heart of Covent Garden it's a perfect place to stay when wanting a peaceful but central location to relax after a busy day in London. Would absolutely recommend this fantastic apartment for your London visit. Thank you Gilly and Richard!
About the Host, Gilly/Richard
Richard and I have owned the flat for about 28 years. We live near Northampton, about an hour's train ride from London. Richard used to use the flat as a base to see his clients who were all in London. He is a freelance photographer working on location (not studios) although now mostly retired. I have always done the admin for his business and also helped with planning and sometimes assisting on photographic shoots. We've got three adult children, two sons and a daughter. Our daughter, Lucy lived in the flat on her own for six months and absolutely loved it!
We love traveling and seeing family and friends. My brother has lived in Italy for over 30 years and we always enjoy seeing our family there. Although we don't live locally, we always like to welcome our guests so that we can show them the flat and everything they need to know. It's great to meet so many lovely people from so many different countries and the flat is in such a fantastic location that our guests love it too.
