Description

The space

The house is only 15 minutes drive from Schiphol airport ( bus 199 stop Brink ,or train to Amsterdam South station and then metro 51, same stop as above ), or 25/30 minutes from Amsterdam Central Station ( metro 51 stop as above ), or 20/25 minutes from the very hearth of Amsterdam, i.e. Leidseplein/Vondelpark ( tram 5 and then metro 51, stop as above ).
Metro station and bus stop are at a walking distance, a shopping mall ( with a supermarket, butcher, grocer, baker, delicatessen, stationary, etc.) just opposite to the metro station.
Amsterdamsebos, where you can walk, ride horse, canoe is nearby. You can also walk along a canal nearby
The house is situated in a compound where traffic is minimal or non existent. Two or three playing grounds for children are in the compound. You can also enjoy a beautiful promenade along a small canal in a grove behind the house, and from there enjoy also a picturesque view of the Dutch countryside.
The Amstel river, and the Amsterdamsebos ( Woods ) wher you can walk, run, canoe or ride horse, are not far.
Not far also the South Station of Amsterdam, from where you can travel by train to Den Haag, Rotterdam, Haarlem, Alkmaar, Delft, Horn or any other place you like.

Guest access

The details of the house are the following:
- Ground floor: Entrance hall, small toilet with basin, living room with stereo and big flat TV, fully equipped kitchen
- Private garden ( 50 sq. meters ) with garden set, where you can have a pleasant sunbathing, or you can relax in the shadow of an electrical awning
- Private open parking space
- First floor: Master bedroom ( 16 sq. meters ) with king size double bed, built-in mirror wardrobe, cabinet; two small bedrooms( one 10 sq. meters and another one 8 sq. meters ) both with single bed ; bathroom with bathtube, shower, basin and toilet

The house is fully equipped with bed linen, quilts, blankets and bath-towels. The kitchen is also fully equipped, with dishes, cutlery, pots and pans, built-in appliances ( oven, gas stove, dish-washer ) and microwave, refrigerator, freezer, and coffe machines as well.

Interaction with guests

The house is completely at the disposal of the guests, since we do not live in it.

In the living room you will find maps both of Amsterdam and Amstelveen, and also museum maps.
I can suggest you to pay a visit at least to one of main attraction in Amsterdam:
• Anne Frank house
• Van Gogh museum
• Stedelijk museum ( modern art, recently completely renovated )
• Rijksmuseum ( Rembrandt, Vermeer, Potter – also completely renovated )
• The lively pleinen ( squares ) of Amsterdam: Leidseplein, Rembrandtplein, Damplein
• Waterloo flea market
• De Loieer antique market
• The Binnenhof
• The Schouwburg theater
• The Concertgebouw
• The Melkweg disco
• The Vondelpark, with picnic, skating, sporting places, restaurants, terraces
• A cruise through the “ grachten “ ( Herengracht, Prinsengracht, Keizergracht, Singel, etc. )
• The floating flower market
• The Royal Palace
• The picturesque Jordaan district
• The red light district ( not for the girls in the windows, however, but because in my opinion it is the oldest and most beautiful district in Amsterdam, from an architectural point of view ).

The neighborhood

Cozyness and no traffic
Playgrounds for children
The house is in a very quiet residential area, where traffic is minimal or not existent. Two or three playground for children are in the compound. You can also enjoy a beautiful promenade along a canal in a grove behind the house, and from there enjoy also a picturesque view of the Dutch countryside.
The Amstel river, and the Amsterdamsebos ( Woods ), where you can walk, run, canoe or ride horse, are not very far.
•Restaurants tips: In Amstelveen, we are sorry but we do not know if there are acceptable restaurants. In Amsterdam, a lot. If you like Italian cuisine, tr “ I Girasoli “ c/o NH Carlton Amsterdam in Vijzelstraat, 4 (tel. ) or “ d’Antica “ in Reguliersdwarsstraat, 8 ( tel. ).If you are “ gek op pizza “ ( mad for pizza ) you can enjoy a real italian pizza at “ Casa di Davide “ in Singel, 426 ( tel. ).
If you are fond of Japanese, the best in Amsterdam ( and a bit expensive ) is in our opinion “ Teppanyaki Nippon “ in Reguliersdwarsstraat, 18 ( tel. ).
Good restaurants for argentinian grilled steaks are the ones from the chai “ Gauchos “. You can find one almost everywhere in Amsterdam. One known to us is in Spuistraat, 3e ( tel. ). A good restaurant for grilled steaks, with a cozy atmosphere, is also “ Castell “ in Lijnbaansgracht, 253 ( tel. ). For those who like dutch and international cuisine with dutch atmosphere, please go to “ d’Vijff Vlieghen “ in Spuistraat, 294 ( tel. ) or to “ New Dorrius “, c/o Crowne Plaza hotel in Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal, 5 ( tel. ). Our experience with fish restaurants in Amsterdam is almost negligible. A very good one however is “ Lucius “ in Spuistraat, 247 ( tel. ).
•Shopping tips: Opposite to the metro station you find the shopping mall Middenhoven with supermarket, butcher, grocery, delicatessen, stationary, etc.
In the alleys of old Amsterdam you can enjoy a lot of small shops to satisfy almost all your wishes.
If you like antiquities, you should not miss the “ Antiekcentrum Amsterda ( previously De Looier ) in Elandsgracht, 109. For bric-a-brac, it is worth visiting the flea market in Waterlooplein.

Paolo's house was very warm and most importantly clean. Eveleena, the cleaning lady is very helpful and good in English which made it easier for us. The metro is about 7 mins walking from the house and the most convenient to move around from Amstelveen to Amsterdam which is a good 30 mins ride. The staircase in the house though is quite narrow so need to be careful moving up and down. We decided to take a taxi from the airport to Paolo's house jb Amstelveen which cost us about 51 euros. If you do not have too much luggage metro is very convenient. Overall a very good experience would love to come back again. Thank you Paolo for being on top of everything.

I was verry pleased about the location and all the confort that this house offers. Paolo did a great job by makeing sure we have everything we need to feel like home. The area is quiet and there is a direct bus and metro that takes you to airport or city center. Having a supermarket nearby is also a great asset. The communication with Paolo was excellent and pro active.

Response from Paolo:
Dear Dinu, as I always say to most of my guests, what I do with all guests is simply what any host should do for all his guests. However, thank you for your nice words and look forward to hosting you again in the future

Nice house in the Amsterdam suburbs, with great parking and transport connections and local shops. The house is well furnished, well equipped and spacious. We had a great stay.

Very nice home in a quite neighborhood. The location is ideal if you are looking for quietness. There is a small nice park just 5 minutes walk, and the entire area is surrounded by nice small canals. The house is just 4 minutes walk from the nearest tram (51) which will take you to the city center in 30 minutes. There is also a HUGE shopping center just 7 minutes by tram (in amstelveen centrum), so if you are looking to buy cloths or anything you don't really need to go to Amsterdam. Also, there is a small shopping mall next to the tram station where you can buy all the food you need. The host is very helpful, he replied to any question I had within minutes, thank you Paolo!! Also, there is private parking and a very nice garden. Internet is fast and reliable.

Response from Paolo:
Dear Maxim and friends, thank you for all your nice words on me and my property. However, I wish to stress that what I did is only what a good host should do for his guests. I trust that I'll be honoured again to have you as my guests
